I always unaloocated of space on the C: drive after restore

I expanded my C drive partiton to 2 TB. I'm still unallocated 750gig. How to combine? There is no pop-up window to allow to expand more.

The original drive (1 TB) is going to be re-formatted once the new C: drive is configured correctly.
Original always drive begin partiton and recovery of files and windows and data.

What should I do to recover my files?

    Hello

If you have reinstalled the computer using the default value of the plant. Then its likely that the files were copied to the sense that they are not recoverable. Here's a guide on the way in which the files are stored and how you 'can' be able to recover anything.

  • File exchange and space on the C drive

This is going to be a long post, but I don't want to miss any detail that could help someone help me.

Let me start by saying that I am extremely new to VMWare and virtual machines in general.  I built a few small machines, but I wasn't quite sure what I was doing and just followed the instructions that I was given.

My manager is currently outside but in his absence, I was responsible for creating a few new machines.  I couldn't understand why I had always set the size of the benefit is less than the total available on the data store size until I read on the pagefile.  I understand now that a swap file will seize the same amount of space as the amount of RAM that you specify for the machine, unless you reserve memory.

The problem I have is that I was told to put in place a disk of 40 GB with 32 GB of RAM.  As the Windows operating system I install occupies about 10 GB, it is are not enough space to fill it.  To resolve this problem, I have increased the size of the data on the amount of RAM store.  So to have a 40GB C: drive, but allow for 32 GB of RAM, I put the size of the data store ~ 72GB and 40 GB provisioned.  The machine has started and installed the operating system and I thought things were fine until I checked the size of the C: drive after installation and it told me there was only 1 GB or more of space.  I was expecting it to be about 30 GB.  I rebooted the machine to update some independent settings and when the machine came back I had 22 GB, 40 GB free on my C: drive.  It's still less than what I expected, but I don't know what exactly happened to release 21GB.

Here's the process I use to create this virtual machine.  If someone could take some time to look into this and let me know what I am missing I would really, really appreciate it.

1.) create a virtual drive of 74 GB on the SAN and introduce him to the ESXI host

2.) log in to the host with vSphere Client

    3.) configuration-> Add-> storage

    (a.) disk/LUN

    (b) VMFS-5

    (c.) maximum available space

    4.) new virtual machine...

    (b) storage: 74 GB datastore, I created

    (c.) VM Version: 5

    (d.) guest operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)

    e.) CPUs: 4 taken virtual

    f.) memory: 32 GB

    g.) network: VMNetwork

h.) to create a floppy: = 40 GB, zero thickness stocked lazy virtual disk size

This will start the machine and I will install the OS, but as I said, when he finished there's hardly any space left on the C drive.  I don't know there's something brutally obvious that I'm missing here, but I appreciate any help.

In this spirit, the vm swap stored in space not configured as I initially thought?

Sorry for the confusion. Yes you are right, it is certainly also swap file of the virtual machine that is on the VMFS data store. In my first post, I was referring only to the pagefile on the guest, because I realized that the guest operating system installation was your major issue.

  • Find unused space on the hard drive of the Satellite A40.

This space is about 7 GB, and seems to be unused.
Can I create a partion second on this space or perhaps used by special services of Windows XP Home edition?

(found this space after the installation of third-party backup/restore program)

    Hello

Well, if you have a free space on the HARD drive if you want, you can create a two or three partitions. New partitions can have different sizes. In this case, I propose to use the magic of Partitions. This tool is very nice and easy to use and has many useful features.
    Try it.

  • move my C: drive program files to my D: drive to free up space on the C: drive.

I'm trying to move some of my files from my C: drive program to my D: drive to free up space on the C: drive. I still want to access via desktop shortcuts to open programs I want to spend. Is there an easy way to do it without uninstall or reinstall each program?

You can not do the way you want.

You will need to delete D: and then extend C: into the now unallocated space where D: is.

You can't take a piece of D: and nail it on C:; you need to remove D:

Save all data on drive D:

Follow the instructions below on how to do it:

  • Any way to increase the amount of space on the local drive C:?

Hey guys - here's my question - I got new Mac just now with VMware Fusion preinstalled and had not paid much attention to the amount of free space on drive c until today when I finally got the time to actually need to install a few Windows programs and ran into a problem - it pops up a window telling me that it was out of disk space on the C drive. At first I thought that ' no way - has nothing here but Vista and Office ' but of course I got after verifying the capacity of 20 GB and 1 GB of free space.

My main HD on my Mac is a 300 Gig with barely 50 gigs used total - disc so I have plenty of space to use, I'm not sure why this has been set up this way to begin with. Is it all the same to expand this or is this set to the score that the guy who sold me the mac put in place (I'm basically screwed and all files on my Mac and everything what will be lost if I want to enlarge the c: one size usable?)

Hello Bbible. Please see the next thread for all your replies on increase/reduction of the size of your HARD drive. What for his evidence, you can do either without losing your data.

Original title: need for disk space

Here are the official specifications of Toshiba for your PC...

    http://support.Toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?ContentId=638405&isFromTOCLink=false

All interface PATA (IDE) connectors are a standard 40 pin.

I know that there is no restriction on the mixture of ATA drives with different speed capabilities and no restrictions on what cable you use, whether 40 wire or 80 strand (but still 40 pins).

Faster drives will only work at the speed of the slowest car on any cable and 80 strand cables are needed to make ATA66 or higher drives run at their native speed.

In addition, no player can work faster than the motherboard chipset permits, in your case ATA66.

My provider of trade has still some disks 3.5 '' PATA in stock, but these are becoming harder and harder to find. Indeed, it is possible that production has ceased and that suppliers are just exhausted stocks.

I can certainly say that, when repairs this technology were more frequent, I never had problems with discs theoretically faster on the same cable as slower drives, nor by using faster on 40 cable strands discs. In fact, of many penny pinching manufacturers (some of them major) regularly used for the optical drive and hard drive on the same cable as the motherboard has two connectors, resulting in a decrease in performance on the disk hard (although most of the people would not have noticed the difference). Sometimes, the cable would be 40 strand (understandable if you are penny pinching) and sometimes the cable would be 80 strand (laughable if you are penny pinching because they are [were] more expensive).

Pass your question about vacant below the sound card. Unless your text confused me, this space is for expansion cards no disk drives. Space that you reference is probably to the back of the PC. Hard drives are normally located toward the front of the dedicated PC "berries". Unfortunately, I could find no photo on the Toshiba site, and still less those internal.

  • System Restore error: "the changes to the G: drive after this point cannot be reversed, because the drive has been either excluded from monitoring system restore or has been disabled or deleted.»

I had some problems with my computer recently I knew could be solved with the system restore.  Then I went into system restore and went to a restore point that was a few weeks back.  After I clicked on it and pressing the ok button, the following message appeared: "the changes made to the G: drive after this point cannot be reversed, because the drive has been either excluded from monitoring system restore or has been disabled or deleted.»  I let it continue and do the restore.  My computer has rebooted and came up with an error in system restore that says restore failed.  It's the same thing with other restore points.  I don't know why I get this error because I not made any changes to this hard drive except for copy of a document word on him.  I thought that the System Restore monitors removable disks.  Anyone know what is happening here and how I can get the restoration of the system to operate without the mistakes to come?

I have Norton.  Disable the Tamper Protection works.  I also noticed that since the G: drive was a portable hard drive, System Restore wanted to exercise oversight.  He wants to monitor all hard drives.  Turn on external and portable hard disks prevents tracking system restore changes to the readers.  I don't think anyone would have the system restore review external drives anyway.  It is not necessary.

  • Create the REDO Logs after restoration of RMAN

    Version 11.2
    Platform: Solaris 10

We restore the cold RMAN backup to a new server. It's a basic restore RMAN where DB name remains the same.

I understand that RMAN backup online redo logs, and for good reason.

We have restored our datafiles successfully. The control file still has the old entries so the query below shows old information about recovery logs

-Display of the configuration of the log file the old control file data
SYS > select * from v$logfile;         ------------> The below output shows the result of the source server

        GROUP# STATUS  TYPE    MEMBER                              IS_
    ---------- ------- ------- ----------------------------------- ---
             1         ONLINE  /DATAM/DB/oradata/slmps/redo1.log      NO
             2         ONLINE  /DATAM/DB/oradata/slmps/redo2.log      NO
             3         ONLINE  /DATAM/DB/oradata/slmps/redo3.log      NO
I have to use ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE command as below to update the control file.
    alter database rename file '/DATAM/DB/oradata/slmps/redo1.log' to '/data/oradata/slmps/slmps_log01.dbf' ;
    alter database rename file '/DATAM/DB/oradata/slmps/redo2.log' to '/data/oradata/slmps/slmps_log02.dbf' ;
    alter database rename file '/DATAM/DB/oradata/slmps/redo3.log' to '/data/oradata/slmps/slmps_log03.dbf' ;
Currently, in the new server, at the level of the BONE there is no physical file above to
    /data/oradata/slmps
I need to create physically redo new logs using the command or the command ALTER DATABASE RENAME above key create a physical file at the level of the BONE?

    Salvation in spiral,

Surely, RMAN will search for redo logs when RECOVER is issued.

When you issue the command RECOVER after restore, RMAN does not check online redo logs. During RECOVERY, RMAN will try to apply the archivelogs or incremental L1 if it has been saved on the source server. RMAN Backup restorations online redo logs or never.

Here OP tries to restore the backup from the cold to a new server. In this case the RECOVER command is not necessary. The example of the Oracle doc you mentioned should do a restore, recovery of a backup hot. In this case, during the RESTORATION, RMAN will try to apply archivelogs or L1 of the incremental backups.

In both cases (cold backup restore or restore, recover from Hot Backup), it is the

    alter database open resetlogs

command that will create the online redo log, so it is absent in the location specified by the control file. Because it is a restoration to a new server, recovery logs is missing because it has not been restored (because it has not been saved)
