  Thank you very much for your answers. As you suggest, I went to the help/updates and found that 3 points were scored update, Manager, 13 Photoshop and first elements 13 elements. On a hunch, instead uncheck one of them, I thought I'd see what would happen to let update all 3. It took a while, but, long story short, stopped the happy Vangogh and everything seems fine.   You can install it on as many machines as you want.  You are limited to be able to have only two machines activated at any given time.  You can sign in and out at the need to activate different machines.  If you try to connect to a third machine, while two other machines are already concluded then you will be asked if you wish to have the two disconnected to allow one to be signed again.

  Normally, the recovery on a system partition is accessible by using a F key at the start of the initial system. For the corresponding key or combination of keys, see the documentation for your system or online from the manufacturer support.

  If you need a recovery media, you will need to contact the manufacturer for such. Do not use a retail disk as often, they do not contain the necessary drivers for the owner builder systems.

  I've only logged on as administrator.

  Even logged on as administrator, you have not all privileges unless you raise them. This is done to prevent malware to take control of your computer when logged in as an administrator.

  What do you mean by that?

  There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

  There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

  You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

  They should do this for a small fee.

  To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

  And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.
