LMS 3.0.1 to 3.1 upgrade

I did upgrade local LMS 3.0.1 to 3.1 on a server stand-alone windows server several times yesterday. Although the Wizard completed successfully without warnings or errors, always we java errors when I launched Services in the Campus of the topology Manager.

I intend to do a fresh install of LMS 3.1 scratch stand-alone Windows 2003 server today. Is it possible to transfer all the data from my 3.0.1 existing version 3.1 after installing the new version? Can I use the same database backup and restore process documented in the LMS 3.0 deployment guide?

Thank you.

Yes, you can use the backup/restore to remote upgrade procedure to migrate your data from 3.0.1 to 3.1. Basically, you take your backup, uninstall LMS 3.0, install 3.1, then restore the backup.

    Hello

UT seems to relate everything correctly except for the names of the user.

It works perfectly under LMS 2.6 a. but after a upgrade Rocky LMS 2.6 to 3.0, has decided to install 3.0 from scratch and now seems just a casual user name.

vmpsadmin debugging is on. See attach.

Restart the UTILITY processes on the server and generate events of utility customers who may not appear. Their user names should now appear in UT. To restart the UTILITY:

    pdterm UTILITY

    pdexec UTILITY

If this does not work, set the new utlite.log and a new complete utility console log.

Edit: oh and if possible, capture a trace to sniff the client UDP traffic when it sends its utility package. It can be corrupted in some way.

  • Can I have two versions of firefox - latest and the 3.6 older, that I can use only with Blackboard?

My new Firefox 8 is fine. But I use the Blackboard LMS online, which has not yet been upgraded for Firefox. I was told that Blackboard works very well with firefox 3.6. Therefore, I want to know if I can get two versions of firefox on my Windows 7 laptop. Or can I only have one version at a time.

Yes - you can either use a portable version of Firefox 3.6, or you can run two profiles. If you're looking for on how to run 2 profiles there are instructions there.

    Hello

I am using Captivate for a few years to write mainly for software demonstrations.

Currently, I'm trying to combine my demo with my LMS institutes; Blackboard, we do just the upgrade from 8 to 9.

The problem I encounter is that the downloaded Scorm packages will not play/open. The loading sequence is successful but when I click the link it opens a new window (scorm player) but nothing loads.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • LMS 3.2

    Hi guys,.

I installed Ciscoworks LMS with common services; RME and CM but forget the Device Fault Manager software platform. Do you know how can I add it? Thank you.

    Kind regards.

    Oscar

I'm sure that you can pretty much add a DFM. On Solaris, for example, simply re - run "setup.sh", and then choose the following at the prompt:

    (2) custom installation. For advanced users.
    Select the components to install.
Enter Admin, comments, identity account of the system, the passwords for the database for the new facility.
    Keep for upgrade and relocation.

Then choose the appropriate option for: DFM (# 9 below) when you are prompted, add it to your existing installation of LMS:

    (1) Common Services 3.3
    (2) portal 1.2 LMS
    (3) CiscoWorks Assistant 1.2
    (4) CiscoView 6.1.9
    (5) integration utility 1.9
    (6) resource Manager Essentials 4.3
    (7) the Director of the campus 5.2
    (8) the Fault Manager HPOV-Netview 3.2 device adapters
    (9) device Fault Manager 3.2
    (10) internetwork Performance Monitor 4.2
    (11) all the foregoing
    -Applications module.
    (12) and use monitor 1.2

  • First management LAN CiscoWorks LMS or Cisco? Help

In my business, we look adds a network management solution:

Some time ago, we installed CiscoWorks LMS 3.2, but we decided to install on the other more modern solution, what is the solution which recommend me?

    Requeriments:

1 000 devices from cisco management.

    Regularly perform massive configurations.

Constant monitoring of the network infrastructure.

    Backups of configuration.

    We have two solutions:

-Update the current CiscoWorks to LMS 4.x version

-buy the "First Cisco LAN Management" Solution

    What solution that recommend me?

    Thank you for your attention.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Jeffersson,

The current product packaging is a bit confusing. Cisco is rebranding all of their management under the aegis of the first Cisco solutions. All prime products have a common appearance and take advantage of some approaches architectural.  From LMS 3.2 on 4.x will put you in the first territory of Cisco.

In the 'first' products are (among others) "Cisco first Infrastructure" (also known as PI - 1.2 is the current version) and "Cisco first LMS" (4.2.3 is current). Preferred Infrastructure (1.0) began in the successor to management wireless Cisco (NCS) product and had been adding features on the way to bring it up to parity with LMS functionality to wired infrastructure. He isn't quite there right now (current comparison here) that existing customers of LMS are usually advised to stick with the latest version of the LMS for now.

Still with me? Good. If the extra twist is that 4.2 LMS is "included" with licenses of FT 1.2 - see the link guide below. So, if you want LMS 4.x, you order indeed 1.2 FT with licenses "Cycle of life" according to the number of devices you manage. (There also is 'respect' and 'insurance' adding these new features of the respective licenses. Compliance is available from LMS 4.2 in the CAAM.  Insurance is almost a FT 1.2 functionality only.)

So my recommendation to you would be to upgrade to version 1.2 of PI and to install and to use the LMS 4.2 (4.2.3 and put patched up-to-date with all the packaging of the products). If you have a VMware configuration, deployment option flexible device (file eggs) is the easier implementation,.

You may find it useful to explain this point of view of Cisco the following two links:

    Functional reference LMS

Don't worry not-all this will not be on the test.

  • Editing/Updating directly > is it possible on windows LMS machine?

I have LMS 3.0.1 and I think that the most recent is 3.2? How I've upgrading or u

update directly on the same server with minimum donwtime?

It will affect the configuration, or is it possible to replace them with new versions? I know I modules CS, IPM, DFM, RME etc...  How will they work with upgrade? My DCR is autonomous and at the moment my LMS is woring smooth and I have no problem with CS or RME...

    need advice of experts...?

This document will guide you through the upgrade of LMS 3.0.1 to 3.2.  Yes, you can do an upgrade on the local server, but it will bring the downtime.  That time could be a whole day depending on the amount of data that must be migrated.

  • HTML5 does not not within player Oracle LMS

I use Adobe Captivate 8.1 to develop sensitive (HTML5) courses and publication on Oracle EBS LMS 12.1.

I can see the course at IE11 browser without problem (with verified compatibility view).

But when running courses in the LMS (Oracle LMS) drive I get the following error:

"The content you are trying to view is not supported in the current Mode of Internet Explorer Document. Change the Document Mode on Internet Explorer 9 standards and try to view the content again. To change the Document Mode, press F12, click on Document Mode:, and then select Internet Explorer 9 standards. "

Verified settings compatibility mode is the default for all users of our IT, and we cannot change it.

I tried all modes of document of F12. did not help.

I tried to add the following to the index_SCORM.html header (first line meta), but that didn't work either:

    < meta http-equiv = "X-UA-Compatible" content = "IE = EDGE" / >

This line supposed to override the default setting of the browser to display compatible and let the browser act like IE11 (later).

but I guess that since OLM player is a frame based player it does not allow the substitution.

Can anyone help?  I need of course HTML5 on OLM.

After a tedious search and Discovery mission, I found the following solutions:

    1. do not user the player PROTEUS to run the course, use rather a popup window that directs the user to another window where HTML5 is supported. Here, the obstacle is to keep track with the LMS.

2 - upgrade your OLM Oracle 12.2.4 which supports HTML5.

  • Former quiz published in Cap 9 HTML 5 will not play on LMS

Store us our content and update of our Captivate 8 projects in Captivate (9.0.2.421) 9.  When I publish a quiz 9 Cap that was made in the PAC 8 to HTML5 and putting it on our LMS, it never loads.  If I publish in Flash, it does not load.  If I publish a lesson that was made to Cap 9, which took in the Cap 8 and that does not include a quiz has received, in HTML5, it works. I know this might be a problem of the LMS, but I would check here to see what you all know.

You can't escape a theme, EACH Captivate project is based on a theme. Maybe this article will clarify:

    What's in a theme - a model? -Captivate Blog

Even with the latest patch for CP9, I saw several threads to complain about upgrade problems, most were due to the use of a model and not well understand the importance of the themes. All the quiz slides are based on quiz master slides, and these slides masters changed the CP9.

  • Course does not load in LMS

We have a number of courses, we have created in Captivate 5.5 until we could proceed to 6.  It seems that most of these courses have had some sort of problem with loading and recovery.  They will begin to charge the player and just hang on 'Loading '. I read somewhere that resume data 5.5 did not play always nice with the LMS while we hoped to republish these courses in 6.

My question is this: Going to republish a queue of 5.5 to 6 correctly fix/update resume data, or are we fundamentally no luck with these courses?

Our complete situation is a little more complicated, but a clear answer to this would help us to get a piece of the puzzle and eliminate a variable.  We have reissued a 5.5 to 6, succeeded him, and he still seems to weigh on the loading screen. But the strange thing is, it works perfectly well with other networks.  We are not affected by any filter/firewall issue between our servers and the LMS, so I can't understand what makes Captivate courses especially hang on OUR network.

    UGH.

Captivate 6 drivers totally new SCORM introduced from the same company that makes the LMS SCORM cloud online, which is apparently the most compatible SCORM LMS on the planet.

Because these SCORM drivers were introduced, we were see much less reported LMS integration issues in this Forum of Adobe Captivate.  So I highly recommend that you upgrade to the Captivate, but I would say that you are upgrading to Cp7 now rather Cp6 and you will get the subscription type and that in the future all your licenses will use the software later.  Try to get the good integration with LMS is a moving target.

Another thing I would say is that you make sure that there is no caching of content Captivate of the course is on your network.  It is possible that your problem could be related to old copies of course always being served by Proxy servers.  One way to test is to publish the same course with a completely different name and see if it suffers from the same problem.

  • How can I tell the LMS what variables I want him?

Hi, I'm working on the development of an online course and I am obliged to put it to a locally-developed LMS which I don't have access and control to.

What I know now, is that:

    1. This LMS cannot accept that data is passed a SCORM singlep packed;

    2. a single SCORM packed can pass two variables to this LMS: total score and pass/fail;

However, the customer wants to track the performance of learners as much as possible, which means that they want more data than just the final score

    and success/failure.

Can someone explain to me how do I specify what are the variables to pass to the LMS? Even I understand that I still am not able to get this to work, since I have no access control / in the implementation of the LMS, I want to understand the mechanism and to be able to explain why I can't get there to my supervisor.

    Thanks for all the inputs.

Data are compatible SCORM LMS interaction via JavaScript variable transfer "mechanism".  SCORM uses a JavaScript API standard LMS compatible all supposed to understand and interpret correctly.  (I use the words "supposed" because reality tends to be that they all interpret the standard a little differently).

If it is a "locally-developed LMS" then all bets are off.  In theory you should be able to transfer some of the information, but with a land roll-your-own system at the other end, you have no way of knowing how he will handle this information.

You need to talk to the guy who built or currently leads this LMS, I hope that someone with expertise and technical knowledge.  Encourage them to tell you how much of the standard SCORM is actually taken in charge.  Only then you know if you can use some more advanced features of Captivate to transmit information more significant (e.g. data interaction as partition/success/failure).

If your current LMS is really only able to accept a couple of values and desires of the customer more of this, handball, the question again to them.  They will have to upgrade their LMS or revise their requirements.

  • No service after upgrade the server to 5.2 on El Capitan

I have a web server that was doing very well until I left the 5.2 update suggested to install OS X Server. I can't get to broadcast web pages. Screen sharing works always and nothing has changed on the routers, etc.

I restarted the server after the update and restarted the server itself several times but keep getting connection via a browser failures.

I did the upgrade even on other servers as well as the upgrade of Sierra. This server is running El Capitan, and is the only one that gave me problems. 5.2 server is not compatible with El Capitan?

    Some additional info:

I can connect to the server through ftp and other services; just no web service.

Port tests show that port 80 is not blocked

Using the IP address I can get to the window of the home server.

    Accessibility means no services available

Websites is on and I can't find anything that is not defined in law or is different than before the update.

  • I've never done a Time Machine backup and I have upgraded to iOS Sierra. Help!

I'm a fool. After owning my Macbook for 5 years, I failed to make a single Time Machine backup. I just saved my essential to an external hard drive. I have upgraded to iOS Sierra. Big mistake. I want to go back to iOS Capitan, but it does not seem possible. Now, my external hard drive is wiped clean (things are dark). What are my options? If I'm stuck with Sierra?

If you have downloaded El Capitan, it should always be available in your purchases. Now, you will need to make a backup to backup your personal files.
