I bought Vista Ultimate professional to upgrade the installed Vista. The 'Upgrade' feature is disabled in my professional (full) Vista Ultimate package. Why?
Why can't go from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate?
I have a laptop double boot configured with Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional.
I bought Vista Ultimate professional to upgrade the installed Vista. The 'Upgrade' feature is disabled in my professional (full) Vista Ultimate package. Why?
Update requires the same Service Pack level. For example, if your current Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 or SP2 installed, you will need to uninstall the Service Pack to be able to use the Windows Vista Ultimate Edition disc, you have that has no Service Pack integrated.

I want to install Windows 7 Professional. I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he told me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and Ultimate. Why not professional? Or is this correct?
You can still install Windows 7 Pro, but it requires a custom installation. This will remove all your programs (you will need to reinstall them), but you can save your files and settings to external storage before doing so.
If you want to make a place in the upgrade you will need Home Premium or Ultimate.

I wonder why the limitation of the upgrade to Windows 7, but the ability to upgrade to Ultimate from Vista Home. Is it simply to get people to pay more for the programs as Ultimate contains the same features as the professional, or am I misunderstood features of the upgrade to Ultimate?
Because Windows 7 Professional and Windows Vista Home Basic do not share the same basic architecture with respect to features.
Windows Vista Home Basic doesn't have many main basic Windows 7 Home Edition network such as Domain Join, backup features, other features such as group policy and network encryption.
If you want to upgrade to Windows 7 while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications, you will need to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.
Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

bought Vista Ultimate and had to restore the computer to factory
I need to be able to load ultimate on the same machine but have no software disc.
* original title - I bought Vista Ultimate and had to reset the computer to factory vista and I did via down load. Is it possible to recover the Ultimate. I bought three different times, and I have my license info. *
HelloI would ask you to contact the Microsoft customer service to get the installation disk. After installation, you can use the same license key that you purchased to activate Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. Or you can also contact the website from which you downloaded the Windows vista ultimate.
See the article below for more information.

I bought a "Windows Vista SP1 Upgrade disc" Wal-Mart and on the accident. I thought it was a full version, but turned out to be upgraded. How can I install this drive to upgrade on my computer if I do not already have an existing operating system?
You need a disk FULL/license to do a clean install, not an upgrade license.
Take it back to Wal-Mart and see if you can exchange it.
See you soon. Mick Murphy - Microsoft partner

I just bought a version of lightroom upgrade 6 (mac, upgrade from lightroom 4) and began the process of installation, but when I entered the serial number of the previous version, I got the message "the serial number you entered is not valid. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact customer service. The number I entered is correct - I checked against the original package and on the products of my adobe account page, and I get the error message even if I try to enter the serial number of the version of lightroom 3 I had before. I am at a loss to understand what I can do: I paid for this product, but I can't install it. The only thing I can think is that the lightroom 4A was purchased from an old computer, but it has migrated successfully to my current imac, as surely, it should work.
Problem is resolved now - it's due to my misunderstanding of what was required, and enter the serial number of the previous version (as an upgrade) instead of the serial number of the version I had to buy). My apologies for my mistake and thank you for your time.

When my DVD drive would not work, I bought an external. I get the same message when I go into properties. Pilots have been disabled.
Hello
Check with the manufacturer of the system, their online documentation and drivers, diagnostics, and
Ask problems known in their forums. You may also check those similar
resources on the site of the manufacturer of the actual device (for the original drive).=================================================================
It is not surprising that the same issue affects the old and the new drive.
This problem may be caused by the presence of too many CD/DVD programs competing for resources,
especially by these programs that run at startup.Even if the error is not Code 22 check these:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
