I can recover Outlook express working drafts of my old windows XP?

Currently, I changed from windows XP to Windows 7.  They removed the XP, now, is it possible for me to get from outlook express which was my emails from the project folder, everything I had in it?       My wife had a short video of his mother talking to his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And much more inportant in the project folder.    I didn't that I drop everything I had and I was not told that I let go it.  I hope you can help.  Best regards, Wallyval

If they formatted the hard drive and installed Win7, Outlook Express doesn't even exist anymore.

You should always respond to the original thread so that we know what you're talking about.

    1. What have you done so far?
    2. OE closed when you tried to remove the dbx file?
If you are unable to delete the file, use a new identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

This is my first posting. Don't know how much has appeared in the "title". Computer died. Past from Windows XP to Vista. Lost Outlook Express mail folders. Not in Windows Mail. (Got 3 months of e-mail entering the transfer.) I can't the old Outlook Express files?

Have I lost the files of Outlook Express completely or is there a way that I can import them in the same way that e-mail came? My old computer died (power source grilled or something like that). I still have it, but no way to turn it on.

If you can access the old hard drive PC you can get the data of Outlook Express store.  See this: http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx or this: http://www.insideoe.com/backup/ Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

  • I now have a hidden admin account on my second windows. Can I use it to connect to my old windows

    original title: passwor

I have two windows installed on my laptop. Both are windows vista. I could not log on to the windows of the first, because it does not accept my password, even if my password is correct. Then I installed windows again, but did not remove the old windows.

My question is: I now have a hidden admin account on my second windows.

Can I use it to connect to my old windows. The old windows is stored in a separate file. I'm the only Admin and the only user.

    Hello

You will not be able to use the old profile, but the hidden administrator account is activated, you may be able to access files and folders in this account that you have not deleted the profile.

    Hope this information is useful.

Outlook Express is a desktop client and all mail clients remove the messages from the server if it is a POP3 account and unless you select the option leave a copy of messages on the server that has been put at your disposal. What is a POP3 account?

If it is a POP3 account, you're probably SOL, but before you give up, try this tool. You can find messages, and it's not free, so no harm to try.

  • Outlook Express works in Vista compatibility mode in another way?

    Hello

Can I get Outlook Express to run in 32-bit Vista Business SP1 somehow?

I checked the forums (positions) and the Windows Compatibility Center (who says OE is not compatible, but only mentions Win 7 and 8 and there is no alternative) but I received no answer.  Most of the motions deal with forward messages from OE to new forms of e-mail programs.
In a software engineering job MS comes to wane answer:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-hardware/Windows-Live-Mail-versus-Outlook-Express-in-Vista/4aa286c7-C16F-4f07-86f1-785e48ceb42e

I am faced with a dilemma.  My laptop has come back for repairs and a new drive because HARD has been adjusted requires a new installation of the OS.  By default, it starts in Vista Business SP1, but it also comes with the downgrade to XP Pro.  When I first bought the machine, a little more than 3 years ago, I opted for the downgrade.

I have dealt with an earlier version of file not compatible with Vista and versions later (by converting documents to PDF format) and I tested Lotus 1-2-3 and millennial Organizer in Win 7 and 8, in which they work.  On this basis, I suppose they will work in Vista.

Now my major obstacle to go to Vista's OE.  I still have to test if my "marked as unread" and red flag messages will export successfully (without losing their 'flags') to MS Outlook or, preferably Thunderbird, but in the meantime I am facing decide to go with Vista or take the road to downgrade to Vista.

I know in Win 7, it is a VM mode or compatibility, but is there something in the Vista Business?

    Thanks much for any help.

There is a hack to use Vista Windows Mail in Win7. There is no download or hack to get OE to work under Vista.

Vista Windows Mail is almost identical to the OE. You cannot use who?

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

I don't see what Windows 8 build must do with OE on a XP machie. Have you tried to download?

Is outlook express 6.0 compatible with windows 7?

N ° OE does not work on any XP system and has been in production since June 2006. You choose your e-mail with Win7 client because it does not include a default program.

If you want to stay with a MS Mail client, Windows Live Mail is the successor to OE and about as close as you can get.
