  Well, I just thought about it. I started in safe mode and uninstalled Norton and safety package provided with Norton from Comcast. It was the solution.   • Pay Sony for media recovery
  • A base Windows installation followed by installing specific Sony drivers and software from their Web site.

  Your principled stand against Sony charges for media recovery is, in my opinion, wrong. As I already said twice...

  My serious recommendation is to accept a fee of Sony for the recovery media. It will make life much simpler for you.
