The reintroduced filter oil painting is not available
I just downloaded the latest version of PS cc 2015. I saw online that the oil filter was reintroduced with this update, but it is grayed out when I go into the menu drop-down aesthetic. I tried to make the image 8 and 16-bit, changed the photo to a smart object, so the filter oil paint is always grey. Is it because I have the plan of Lightroom/Photoshop that I can't use the filter?
Thank you
Jim
Thanks for the information system.
Update your graphics card drivers and
Go to the Photoshop preferences > performance > advanced settings > "Use OpenCL" is checked

IM using Mac OS 10.11.5 with a nvidia GeForce GT 120 512 MB (w/last pilot); When you try to use the filter "oil painting" Ps CC, it is always grey. I see that I must use 64-bit, but don't see any reference to it, or any another bit depth, for that matter, anywhere in my system.

Photoshop "Use OpenCL" gray and also grey filter oil painting
I try to get the PS CC oil filter to be accessible, but it is grayed out.
So far I tried to move the RGB/8 bit image. The other piece of advice was to go in Edition > Preferences > performance > Advanced Options and check "Use OpenCL." That is also disabled. Advice on accessibility that were to download the most recent driver, then restart the system, then the Psalm I made, but "Use OpenCL" remains gray.
I use 250 GeForce, update driver 341.92. Does anyone have this combo with the accessible oil filter? Or "Use OpenCL" accessible?
Thanks for any ideas on either the option of checking "Use OpenCL" or another idea to be able to access the oil paint filter.
Unfortunately, you are right that the oil painting should OpenCL to check. I just had a quick glance and 341.92 does not seem to be the most up to the version date of the driver for your card, even if I had to guess your operating system and if 32 or 64-bit system. It seems highly unlikely that there is never an another update driver for such an old card, so your options are limited. You can replace the video card, but that could be problematic. You must be sure that your motherboard would support a particular card, and after the hassles and expenses, you have no guarantee that oil painting then works.
So probably your best option would be to install CS6 from the application manager, which was the original version of the oil painting, and switch between CC and CS6 when you need to use the oil paint. There are many other modules and extensions that would work in CS6. Trevor Morris Dmonzon tools, for example. It was one of my real favorite.
