I can't install Sony Vegas 10 my computer tells me that the error code 1601.

I tried to install Sony Vegas 10 recently, but an error saying Windows error: 1601. I think it has something to do with the installer.

Currently, I run a 32 bit with Windows Vista OS.
I looked at a few others who say update my Installer, but I can't not all updates for Vista 64-bit or say that my software is not correct to update.
Any help?
EDIT: I recently discovered that I can't find my Windows Installer, which means it might be damaged or even uninstalled, if that's the case then how can I re - install? I tried to fix that did not work.
-Sam

You can try the following to help in problems of Windows Installer:

Method 1: check if the Windows Installer service is set to Disable

  1. Click Start, type services.msc in the start search box and press on enter.
  2. In the list of Services (Local) , right-click Windows Installer, and then click Properties.
  3. If the drop-down list Startup type is set to the value off, select the Manual option in the drop-down list Startup type .
  4. Click Start under the service status section, and then click OK.

Method 2: Reregister windows install

  1. Click Start, open the Run dialog box (windows key + R)
  2. Type msiexec.exe /unreg and then click ok.
  3. If you receive a confirmation message, click OK again.
  4. Click Start, open the Run dialog box (windows key + R)
  5. Type msiexec/regserver , and then click on ok.
  6. If you receive a confirmation message, click OK again.
  7. Try to install the application and see if the problem persists.
  8. If you still have the error then try the next method.

Method 3

Download the latest version of windows installed and install it on your computer.

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you can not install .net Framework 4.0 whereby you are unable to install the Kaspersky Internet Security software and I'll be happy to answer your query. Let me ask you;

    • How you try to install .net Framework 4.0?
    • Are you can install other updates?
    • What is the exact error message that you receive when installing .net Framework 4.0?
    • Is there any previous Internet Security installed on the computer software?

There could be several reasons for not being able to install any program or update including any third-party software conflict, corruption of Windows Installer, Windows updates the corruptions of components etc. Please, try the following methods and check.

Method 1: If you try to install .net Framework through updates, try using the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix the problem. He makes sure your computer is connected to the Internet and checks to see if your network card and Windows Update services are running properly.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 3: You can reset the Windows Update components and check the status.

To automatically reset the Windows Components update, run the fixit in the article below. If the Fixit does not work, you can try the manual steps and check.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

Method 4: Fix the .NET Framework

Download the Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool to repair the following versions of the .NET Framework, and then reinstall the update of the .NET Framework.

Method 5: Uninstall and reinstall the .NET Framework

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Discover the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool User Guide.
    2. Download the .NET Framework cleanup tool.
    3. When you are prompted, click Open, and then click retrieve now.
    4. In which you extracted the files, double-click cleanup_tool.exe.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, provide the password, and then click continue.
  • In the Do you want to run the .NET Framework Setup Cleanup Utility? message, click Yes.
  • Click Yes to accept the license agreement.
  • In the window cleaning product , click the list, select .NET Framework - all Versionsand then click clean up now.
Note the cleaning tool does not remove the .NET Framework 2.0 in Windows Vista or later versions of Windows because the .NET Framework is installed as a component of the operating system.
  • After the .NET Framework is removed, restart the computer.
  • Download and install the following components:
  • The .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (this will also install the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and the .NET Framework 3.0 SP2)

  • Restart the computer.
  • Visit Windows Update again, and then review and install the updates.
  • Try to reinstall the update of the .NET Framework.
  • Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Hello

Here's what I recommend you do:

    1. disable UAC (do this if you are using Vista or Windows 7, otherwise, go to step # 2). Comes down

restrictions - turn it off completely.
2 restart your computer for the change to take effect.
3 re - download the update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB982331) from the link below:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7f89a734-cda4-4abb-9a10-f6dfe560e8d0&displaylang=en
    4. install. It should work fine.
    5. If it still does not work, try to open all or part of your MS Office applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel, etc.).
    6. follow steps 3-4.
    7. If it still does not work, follow step # 3 again. After you download it, try unplugging your computer from

Internet (unplug the internet cable or turn off the modem). Then, try to install the downloaded file

(KB982331). It should work this time.

Do the same for all the updates that come with KB982331, IF ANY.
    Let me know your results.

  • Can manage Windows XP Home Edition of Windows 8? Get the error codes for the security updates (0 x 643). ALL through Microsoft Tech INFECTED with the virus and Trojans tried. I need help BADLY. Thank you.

I tried every thing blessed with technology microsoft... always hanging in limbo here.  Tired of doing constant comprehensive analyses, etc. in order to remove the constant threats.  Apparently my McAfee can't stay with her either.  Need help with the download/repair these seeds as soon as possible.  Thanks to all those who wish to help me - it would be that popular, for sure!

    The question makes no sense.

"Can manage Windows XP Home Edition of Windows 8?"

Two problems: there is no Windows 8 and even if there were, Windows XP Home Edition would not not 'manage '.  ;-)

I drop McAfee for a few different freeware products.  Or better yet I'd get two products 'cost' (~ 25 and 60 dollars) and install them and use them in the future - but WHEN you are trying to clean up.

You seem like you maybe sincerely - at a time when a format/install of Windows XP/patching/installation of applications/patch/restore backups of your data is the best course of action.

However, if you are willing to work - maybe we can at least get things cleaned up to a certain point where you can get a good backup before doing this (otherwise avoid doing all together.)

In the order shown, do not jump (no matter what you do, what you have done in the past, etc.) ...

First of all - download, install, operate and put to update and then run a full system scan with the following two (one at a time, reboot in-between):

After you perform a full scan with one then the other and remove anything they have all two are completely, you can uninstall these products, if you wish.  This initiative will allow to check there is no malware floating around your system which could cause problems.  If you ask - no, Norton probably does not protect you from what these applications can find.

Download and run the MSRT tool manually:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
(Ignore the details and download the tool to download and save to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

    Reset.

Download/install the latest program Windows installation (for your operating system):
    (Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe )
(Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

    and...

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237
... and save it to the root of your C:\ drive. After you register on the root of the C:\ drive, follow these steps:

Close all Internet Explorer Windows and other applications.

    AutoScan--> RUN and type:
    %SystemDrive%\windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe /WUFORCE
    --> Click OK.

(If asked, select 'Run'). --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...

    Reset.

Now try usig the Fixit (Yes - try to use it again) to reset your Windows Components Update (you'll do the aggressive version, not the other):
How to reset the Windows Update components?

    Reset.

    CHKDSK
How to scan your disks for errors* will take time and a reboot.

    Defragment
How to defragment your hard drives* will take time

    Reset.

Now, open Internet Explorer, visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and do a CUSTOM search for updates.  Install any critical/high-priority ones and - for now - to ignore all those in option (always do this for material updates optional here.)

Restart if necessary and continue to visit this web page until you have not yet updated to high priority.

Now - if your problem is with the facilities of the .NET Framework...  You can end up with something like:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx
to uninstall a few versions of the .NET Framework, then you can try to install again - but you should not do this until the machine is supposed to be cleaned.

It is possible that you have corrupted cache files; You can try to delete the cache folder and check if that helps. You can also temporarily disable your firewall and check if all of the parameters of the firewall is a cause. Better support for the effort, I'd say uninstall you the current Windows live Messenger and install the latest version (http://download.live.com/messenger)
