I can't launch an old CD-ROM game

An hour ago, I tried to install an old CD-ROM game called you don't know Jack Volume 3 running on my computer, a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7.  When I tried to open D:\SETUP. EXE, I received a message stating that the file was not compatible with my computer.  He even asked me to check for 32 or 64-bit and then ask to the manufacturer.

I used the resolution of compatibility issues to restore it to several older operating systems on which it was working before.  But there was no response when I tried to run the program anyway.  The only cure is to use Virtual XP or whatever they call, but I'm afraid that this will change my computer in ways I don't want to see.

I would have contacted games Sierra, who made the CD, but the game is more than ten years and the product is no longer supported.  Does that mean that there is nothing I can do?

Also, my computer is 64-bit.

I ran a couple of Virtual Machines under Windows 7 64 bit and can assure you they have never posed no problem to the host operating system, they are just different programs as far as the host is concerned.

This warranty covers the gambit set of VMS in the 'Home' versions if you want to have a look.  Of course you will need a licensed copy of XP to install and run in any of them (except XP Mode).
