I can't live without asmlib under Linux?
Platform: RHEL 5 (64-bit)Version of the grid: 11.2.0.3
I've only worked in Solaris and AIX before. I've done several facilities of RAC Solaris/Aix. Our company has decided to move some of our CARS to Linux implementations due to the costs.
Google and OTN, I think you need create a 'ASM disks"by labeling the LUNS by using a binary file called asmlib.
Finally, it will look like this
select path from v$asm_disk
PATH
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ORCL:DISK1
ORCL:DISK2
ORCL:DISK3
ORCL:DISK4
.
.
Under Linux, can't I deal directly with the LUNS as we do in Solaris. That is to say. In solaris, when we create starts, we can specify the LUN names directly as/dev/rdsk/c4ikdzs3
/dev/rdsk/c4ikdzs4
Similarly, Linux is there a way I can specify the LUN as below directly when creating starts?/dev/disk1
/dev/disk2
Yes, you can live without asmlib. asmlib is examined on RHEL 5, but not planned for 6, so it's something to consider:
https://blogs.Oracle.com/Wim/entry/asmlib
udev is available and gives you more control.
$ man udev
UDEV(7) udev UDEV(7)
NAME
udev - dynamic device management
DESCRIPTION
udev provides a dynamic device directory containing only the files for actually present devices. It creates or removes device
node files in the /dev directory, or it renames network interfaces.
Good luck.

Sprity...spirty,
This sounds like it could also be a permissions problem. I'm guessing that when you copy-n-Paste the form on the LINUX Server, you did what Windows Explorer. When they are copied to the server LINUX file will be created with the default privileges defined on the file. I recommend that you connect to the LINUX Server and check the permissions on the file. If your file permissions do not match the permissions of the text.fmb (or other files .fmb you have there) I suggest that you change the permissions so that they match.I hope this helps.

You can run CS5 without Java under Lion?
I know that you need Java to install CS5 initially, but apps in CS5 can be used without Java? It's a few features (AdobeConnect) that require Java or everythng mudra stop without it?
With all the holes in security in Java, is would be nice to uninstall.

LabVIEW application developed on windows can be installed under linux?
Hi all
I use suite developer LabVIEW 2009 on windows 7 PC. I was wondering if the application created with labview on PC can be deployed on the linux platform? If not, is it possible to develop the LabVIEW application on windows to deploy on linux platform?
I was also wondering if computers single-board as Beagleboard, Raspberry Pi are loaded with linux, labview application can be deployed on these computers?
(in simpler words, I wonder, with existing suite of Labview 2009 developer on windows, can I develop a data acquisition application and deploy it on single-board computers that have linux installed on them.)
Thank you!

To create an exe on a Linux platform, you need LabVIEW for Linux with its application builder. You can open the source on the Linux machine.

Satellite A300 - 1 5 ACPI is not supported under Linux
I have laptop Toshiba A300 - 1 5. When I run Windows absolutely everything works fine.
But when I boot Linux (I tested the two 8.10 of Ubuntu and Fedora 10), Fn keys does not work.
Neither is bluetooth, which is a USB hidden and disabled by default.I noticed that pilots * toshiba.ko* and * toshiba_acpi.ko* cannot be loaded.
I tried to load them, but both * dmesg * and said */var/log.messages*: * {color: #000080} not a cell phone supported. {color} *.
I also tried to use * toshset, toshutil, fnfx *, but they all need * / dev/toshiba * and * / proc/acpi/toshiba * or * / proc/toshiba * exist.
And it is impossible to load them, because the cell phone is not supported.I have two questions:
1 Toshiba plans to cooperate with suppliers of Linux in order to fix this bug.
I have visited many Linux forums and many people's complaint they have keys functional unfunctioning under Linux.
So, I think that if the product is thrown on the market, it must be supported, is it not?2. How can I temporarily fix this bug to get the missing functionality before the next version of Ubuntu or Fedora? Can someone advice any solution.
(Well, please don't say: leave Linux and use Windows.) I want to use Linux, not Windows. "And I want a job in the same way).If you want additional information about a bug, I will provide.

How to start the services of informatica 8.6.1 under Linux
Hello Experts,
I installed the services of Informatica 8.6.1 under Linux, I want to start the services, can someone help me here with the path and the command I should use to start the services.
Thank you
Ahmed.
Ahmed,
This is not the right place to ask questions of Informatica. in any case the answer to your question is mentioned below.
In the UNIX box, navigate to the directory where Informatica is installed. If the profile is configured properly and the environment variables are defined, you can use $INFA_HOME.
CD $INFA_HOME/Server/tomcat/bin
In this directory, locate the infaservice.sh script.
Type Start infaservice.sh and press ENTER.
It will take a few minutes and all services must be facing up and running including the repository services.
Thank you!
