Mozilla Thunderbird 31.3.0 update seems to have corrupted the program. I tried to use restore points, but it did not work. I tried to uninstall, but after the authorities approved, the wizard does not start. I have administrator rights and can uninstall other programs. Would appreciate any help to solve this problem. • Since installing open Office 4.0 I can't open .doc files on the fly, used to work before.

I've recently upgraded to Open Office 4.0. Now can't open Thunderbird .doc attachments. Can I download the disk and open in Open Office Writer with food office or Windows Explorer in the usual way. I checked the tools/options/attachments and it is set to Open Office Writer. I think that's not relevant, but when I had Open Office 3.0, I've had writer defined as a separate program, but now I use just the master front-end server.

Works OK with .pdf or .jpg files.

just remove the entry from the windows of the spare part and then try and open a doc file. The entry will be recreated using your answers.

I'm guessing that the existing Writer is not the correct writer.

  • [Linux] How can I see if there are new messages without opening Thunderbird?

    Hi people

I am working on Linux Fedora (20) and wonder if there is a way to see if I have new emails without opening Thunderbird again. I usually minimizes Thunderbird and when a new message arrives, I get a notification from the office, which is great. But - if I am away from my computer for a minute, and an email arrives, I will often not see until the following is available in.

On mac, the thunderbird icon would get one of these badges + 1. Is there a way to do this? For example, to have the title of this change of window pane Thunderbird "Inbox - Mozilla game...". «to "consult [2] - moz...» ' - or just leave the notification until I have the click.

    Thanks for the tips.

    See you soon

To my knowledge, Thunderbird does not provide these features by default. You can use the Add-on Firetray achieve the same, however.

  • How do you delete an account without opening Thunderbird?

I'm having a problem where whenever I open Thunderbird (38) it freezes. I am convinced that the problem lies with my Comcast email account, I created a new profile and that you have NOT configured the account from Comcast and Thunderbird worked without problem.

This problem occurs on 2 different PC from Windows using different versions of Windows (8.1 year 10)

How can I remove the account from Comcast without opening Thunderbird?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I solved this is another way - although I "lost" my emails from Comcast.

I contacted Comcast and they had apparently changed the ports and it was enough to mess things up for me.

I got the new server incoming and outgoing of them info.

Created a new profile and set it to my personal email. Once inside, I created the account of Comcast.

I think that they also shifted a pop to an imap - or at least that's what I've done with.

The ports for those who have this problem - 993 IMAP and 587 (different from the default).

Other than that, it would be always useful to know how to enter the account settings without opening Thunderbird.

  • When I open Thunderbird it shows download 1 of 27 messages, but only downloads one 1 and stops, I then mark as spam and delete it from the junk e-mail folder

When I open Thunderbird it shows download 1 of 27 messages, but only downloads one 1 and does not download the other 26. I mark as spam and delete it from the junk e-mail folder. I press the button to get the Messages and the same thing happens again with the same message that was deleted before downloads and other 26 messages fail to download. How can I get rid of this email and download the rest of my emails?

What is a POP account? Please confirm.

  • How can I get Thunderbird to switch to a new tab immediately as I can with Firefox?

Everytime I open a new tab in Thunderbird, no matter how I do it (menu, double click, etc), it opens the content in a new tab, but keeps the focus on the current tab. How can I get Thunderbird to move immediately to a new tab when I opened a? It is quite annoying to have to mouse to the list of the tab and click the new each time. It's SO easy to set up in Firefox, but seems to be completely absent in Thunderbird. Weird.

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

  • I would like to request my password when I first open Thunderbird.

My hard drive crashed and I lost my address book and archives, etc. When I reinstalled Thunderbird on a new hard drive, I entered my password. Now when I open Thunderbird, he doesn't want my password as it did on my old hard drive. I just want to change the setting, so I did not enter a password when opening Thunderbird. How it is my question.

Second question-2-3 months before the hard drive crash I did a copy and paste of this hard disk backup. Can I used to find my address book and lost archives?

    RE: password
You must select the option for Thunderbird to remember passwords when creating the account.

    You can delete stored passwords:
Tools > Options > Security > passwords tab
    or
Menu icon > Options > Options > Security > passwords tab

    • Click "Saved passwords"
    • Click "Show passwords"]
    • Choose passwords of the mailbox and smtp for e-mail account.
    • Click 'delete '.
    • Click "close".
    • Click OK to save the changes.
    • Close Thunderbird
    • Wait for the background process to finish
    • Restart Thunderbird.

    He should ask password.

  • Lightning Calendar does not appear when I open Thunderbird. There are several error messages.

When I open Thunderbird lightning calendar does not appear. There is nothing in the menus that allow to open the calendar. There was a fairly long list of warning on the console for error messages, but nothing seemed specific to the calendar.

  • When I open Thunderbird, instead of the folder Inbox etc, it shows an open email immediately. If I close that e-mail, another opens after him.

When I open thunderbird, it goes momentarily past display Inbox etc., directly to the opening of an email. When I close this e-mail, he opens another. And so on. Is there a setting that causes this? Or is this a bug? I can't go back to the screen where I can go to Inbox, sent, drafts, or trash. Why? I looked everywhere and cannot find a setting which solves this problem. What could bring it and what can I do about it?
    Please, I beg you!

Looks like you had several messages open during your last closed Thunderbird. Thunderbird opens just as you closed. Make it a habit to close the messages after they are read.

Right click on one of the message tabs opened at the top of the screen and choose close other tabs. Then use the x in the last tab to close it.
