  • Fast previews when importing

    Friends,

Is there a way to build small previews when importing that load very quickly, so I can pass by images and rate, while imports takes place?  I am trying to build previews smart and I move the image in the image, I'll usually get the "loading" label which can last a second or two.  I know that sounds short but it seems long when completed the steps and I have to slow down or missing a picture, as I have the breath beyond risk.

    Thank you!

    Steve

You can select the size of the preview that is returned to import:

For the standard, you can choose the size in the catalog settings:

If you use Standard, I suggest to select a value that is less than the resolution of your screen.

  • Wrong width for the imported graphics to frame 9

Anyone else had problems with Framemaker detecting the wrong width when you import graphics?  For example, when I import a jpg of a button which must be 21 x 21 pixels, Framemaker displays the 24 PX width and height than 21px.  This translates into a broken graph.  If I adjust the dimensions of the chart in FrameMaker for the right size, then print the PDF, the right border of the image is disabled.

I tried to capture the graph a variety of different ways, and I still feel the same results.  I can import the graphic into Captivate or Word and the sizing is correct.  Any ideas?  Thank you!

I use FrameMaker version 9.0p237 as part of the Technical Communication Suite 2.

I just tested this with a sample file dimensions 21 x 21, and you are perfectly right. FM9 live upwards the size (and default dpi resolution) for PNG and GIF files. I also tried BMP and TIF equivalents and they were ok. FM8 does not have this problem, it seems that Adobe has played with filters PNG and GIF a little (maybe to get rid of all the extra colors coming).

For an import JPG or PNG to a 21 x 21 to 96 DPI, FM9 seems to think it is 24 x 21-110dpi. FM8 is good.

    For a GIF of the same import, FM9 think it's 22 x 21-75dpi. FM8 had right.

Also, what is strange, is that if the dimensions are both even, for example 20 x 20 to 96 DPI, then FM9 gets it right of JPG, PNG and GIF. However, if the * first * dimension is odd, for example 21 x 20 it he gets hurt again as before, but if the second dimesion is odd, for example 20 x 21, it just gets it. VERY STRANGE!

    This is certainly a BUG.

I suggest that you should use BMP or TIF for now OR try increasing your 1-pixel icons to make them the same size, for example 22 x 22.

I also recommend that you do not use JPG for the latter, but the GIF or PNG, because you can produce unwanted artifacts in the JPG because of used lossy compression.

  • How to select the photos I want to import in the import Windows 7 Wizard, and how to change their name to a group of the name custom when importing?

Has features missing from Windows XP in Windows 7?

I'm doing a simple import of photos using the option 'Import pictures and videos using Windows' native Autoplay.

In Windows XP, I could choose what images to import and give them all the basic name custom during the import process, with each photo added later with a "001", "002" etc using the scanner and Camera Wizard.  It is very convenient because it could have been hundreds of photos on some of my cards from a long period of shots, I could run the tool more than once for different groups of photos that I would choose Import, and the pictures would be get named sequentially and stored in their files you want immediately.  I imported thousands of photos in this way.

This new tool for Windows 7 allows me to add tags to all of the photos on the cards and devices and name photos after their date, or on the label, or other combinations of that... but why doesn't this new tool in Windows 7 suppose I want to import every single photo on the card device / I just connect and more that I want them all to have the same tag assigned to them?  It's stupid and useless - there, makes only has pictures of a theme on their card at any time that they connect to import their photos and always wants to import everything each time?

To illustrate this point, let's look at my current situation.  I'm just on vacation in Europe and took pictures to more than one place, I visited, of course and now I would like to mark photos with the location of the names individually... or even more, I would like to actually name photos when importing with the name of the place in the picture.  Scanner and digital camera Assistant & would do that, no problem - you just had to run the tool once for each different group name, then select the appropriate images to import with the same group name.  It has been easy.  This type of naming is far superior to the addition of tags to images named simple-list or date-wise because you can tell what the image file in your library that you want to open just by going to (or get) the group name.  Want to see pictures of St. Peter's Basilica?  If you named the photos with that (added with 001, 002 etc), then simply browse to that name in your folder of photos «The Italy, holiday 2010»  Without trying to find photos Tags into the sea by the name of "IMG20100324005" - soup and no program Photo Gallery Windows Live Photos or necessary Picasa.

This new program in Windows 7 for the import of images does not appear to be able to handle the very handy feature of its predecessor Windows XP.  It's very frustrating to have opted for the version of Windows newer and supposed to be 'better' but find several programs that have been very useful for XP have valuable features removed or are no longer present at all (like how Windows 7 is no longer a Clipboard Viewer - that has great idea that is?).

So is it possible to recover the image import feature I apparently lost by 'redevelopment' of Windows Windows 7?  I could of course go and buy an image import and edition program (Smart Photo Import very nice for the price, a quick search I just do), but as this feature was native in Windows XP it is still stupid to have to buy a 3rd party simply program now because Microsoft does not understand the idea of keeping popular features in their software and seems rather "he dumb down.

Any help to select the pictures I want to import and naming them when importing with a custom group name using the import wizard would be greatly appreciated... + 10 GB of photos and videos of this trip is sitting & waiting for a solution!

    Hi Chris,

It seems to be a problem in your catalog. Just to test it please try to choose a different source location and also to pass to the method to import different (copy) to move and copy again to see if it works. Otherwise you should check with a new catalog to find out if the question is specifically in the catalog application it self.

I did a HD video with my camera and need to change it, but when I import it into Adobe Premiere elements 13 quality decreases. How to maintain the optimal video quality when importing it?

    Arthurs

What version of Premiere Elements and on what operating system works - it?

What is the brand/model/parameters of the camera that records video? What is the file extension that is associated with the file? What is the bit rate of the file that is imported?

Is the decline in quality import and when you watch the video in the Edit area monitor? Or do you see loss of video quality when you view this Timeline content export? When you view the video in edit box monitor, you're looking at timeline rendered or unreturned content? No coloured line, orange line or a green line on the content of the timeline?

  • LR 4 and 4.1 can't create new folder manually when importing photos

    Windows 64, i7, 12 GB of RAM

I don't seem able to create a new folder manually when importing photos.  It still works fine on the same PC with LR3.6.  Anyone else seeing this?  Thank you.

    nonewfolder.jpg

Yes, I'm on Win7. I can get the result that you specify.  I right click on the folder name in LR and then choose "Create a new folder."  This shows the dialog box windows.  If I then right-click in the right pane and select new > folder, I get a new folder empty in the right pane and can type the name, then select this folder.  If, instead of click with the right button in the right pane, I try to type the name of the new folder in the bottom of the dialog box where it says "file:" then I get this error message. That's what I mean by saying that the process has changed slightly in the LR4.

  • Problem with the back up when import

If I understand correctly, when I choose to send a second backup copy during the stage imort LR3 sends a copy of the parameters and not a copy of the image itself, a separate backup should be so the image. I understand that correctly? This system applies to all files or just for the Raw files?

The reason for these questions is because when I imported an image images recently the image backup file content and not the text. This problem occurred when I was attmepting to merge all my pictures and images in a single catalog. There may be files were worked on in LR2, some on LR3, some may have been worked in LR2 and then set up-to-date for LR3, I can't remember which.

One of the factors that can affect the problem is that I chose the preference to incorporate the settings jpeg and Tiff files. Would be - it then cause jpeg files to save as image rather than in text format?   If so that would mean that he only then would be required to make a separate backup of jpeg files?

Please help as I have to many problems of compiling a master catalog!

    Lol you do not understand.

The second copy made when importing is a second copy of the image file, whether raw or jpeg. This second image is probably best thought of as a temporary backup until your imported photos make your regular backup rotation. This is consistent with the practice of always have at least two copies of your images, and it allows you to reformat your card.

To save your changes, it is necessary to back up your catalog. The option of Lightroom to save it by leaving allows the backup take place once the catalog was closed in a known good state.

There are a lot of good tutorial material available on the web. It is a good starting point.

  • Objects like bitmaps when importing vector files

    Hello

I am a beginner with ID CS5. I am going through a bunch of tutorials, and there is one thing that I can't solve.

When I import the contents of the vector files (Illustrator CS5 file with vector objects - strokes) in InDesign.

imported object looks like low resolution bitmap. What I am doing wrong? Y at - it an option I should enable or disable

for imported objects in vector format?

Thanks in advance for the answers,

    Best regards

    MI

Well Yes! Try the view-> display-> high quality Performace. InDesign / previews low resolution when you are in Standard view. (And ID tend to run a lot faster when it is not rendered print hi-res images, then you are probably better off working in Standard mode, unless you have a monster of a desktop machine, or unless your job requires that you see the image high resolution while you do other tasks in ID.)

  • How to remove invisible reference to the imported graphic?

I recently moved a book in a new folder, now when I open my accompanying document, framework asks for the location of an imported graphic, that it does not. As far as I know, I deleted this graph imported for a long time. I don't see a paragraph mark for this on the page the list of references gives for this. It is not visible on the body or template pages. No gray rectangle anywhere.

How can I find and delete this invisible reference?

When I click on ignore the missing graphic box, he asked again the next time I open the document. When I open the document in Notepad, I see the name of the chart he needs. Can I just remove this name using Notepad? (Suspect who would be too good to be true).

Thanks for any help on yet another problem of Frame not covered in the documentation.

John, I think if I were you I would recreate the terms of coverage. It shouldn't take too long-

    • Create a new file of FM.
    • Save the new file as "coverNew.fm" (or other)
    • With only these two files open on the FM band and the new file as the 'active' file, make file > import > Formats. Don't forget that the ' import to ' at the top of the dialog box specifies the old file. Import all formats. Save the new file.
    • If you have a text on the old file, click the cursor anywhere in the text and do Ctl + a to select all the text in the stream.
    • In the new file, click the cursor in the empty text frame and do Ctl + v to paste. Save the new file.
    • For the new graphic, draw a graphic image on the page where you want to be placed.
    • In the old file, select the chart by clicking on it - don't forget to click just above, don't do Ctl + a or you might get inadvertently old graphics too. Do Ctrl + c to copy.
    • In the new file, select the empty graphic block, you just create and do Ctl + v to paste. Save the new file.
    • Then, when you have your new file with all the transferred content, close the old file. Make file save as to name the new file the same name as the old file.

Let us know how you go.

  • LR 2.4 now changes the file names with the suffix - 2 when importing

    On Vista...

was perfectly ok, but suddenly it adds now suffix-2 to all files when importing... and this can be seen in the Explorer to do!

    Do not change parameter.

Have checked all the settings / options that I can find, but can't find what does it... the damned that is annoying when importing of large amounts of files (a couple).

    Any suggestions please?

I'll try all of the suggestions, even if I already did... Thank you very much.

In catalog settings, file management you can set sequence number of import, you can set it to start at 2.

In the import dialog itself that you have a wide choice of naming conventions in the drop-down list of file naming, if value Filename or custom - order of the name it will apply the sequence as shown in the catalog settings.

  • Import graphics in Keynote

I'm creating a presentation for a customer in Keynote.

They have a very specific color palette, I've used throughout the document.

I created elements in the document that I applied the color palette in without incident.

    Everything is good so far.

Unfortunately, every time I import the graphic into the document, the colors (of imported graphics) are everywhere.

I'm generating content in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, both using RGB color spaces.

I did some research and I understand that it's something to do with the monitor profile and that all imported in Keynote is converted.

I've updated the profiles selected within each program in Adobe RGB (1998) profile in the display panel, but it does not seem to make a difference.

Has anyone encountered this problem themselves?

    I'm doing something wrong?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

With Keynote, use generic RGB in System Preferences > monitors > color

If the graphics are created specifically for the speech, imaging requests can also be set to generic RGB.

Generic RGB is the color profile used in the screen and video from Apple applications, which includes the Keynote.

Adobe RGB is designed for photographic images that will be printed on paper.
