> > I do not see my external hard drive on the IDE?

Hello, I bought a PC cable USB to IDE/SATA Converter and I connect an internal hard drive IDE 2.5 "laptop to my USB port. In my view, that it is connected under the icon to the right of "Remove hardware" as a USB mass storage device. And in the Device Manager, I see no problem with the same USB mass storage device. But in my computer I do not see the hard drive at all? How I see the hard drive so I can get some data from it. This also happens when I connect an IDE 3.5 internal hard drive "office at the USB port. Somehow he do not appear in my computer.
But the most funny thing is if I connect a CD-ROM IDE drive it works fine. What is going on? Any help is appreciated.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP3.
The usb cabe is 13796 APC BUSBX0017 and I bought it on Amazon at this link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OORMVQ/ref=s9_simz_gw_s0_p23_t2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0BPFY6K3871PMBVJ8S50&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

I found the problem. You can only connect directly to the motherboard USB port - it does not work on an extension USB hub or a USB PCI card. And you need to connect somehow to the LAST stage connecting the female USB end to the motherboard to the USB port.

  • Not asked to external hard drive since the update password to 10.11.2

I have a Seagate external drive attached to my Mac to run the time machine. Until I updated to El Capitan 10.11.2 I enter the password I put in place to access the drive when I booted up the mac. However since the update, I have more to do. I'd rather have the extra security having to enter the password so how can I configure my Mac to go back to that?

In Keychain Access (login keychain), look for an entry for the external hard drive. Remove the entry if you find.

  • Backup Win XP does not recognize my external hard drive

Windows XP Backup Wizard does not recognize my external hard drive and does not list it as an option for storing backups.  I suspect a registry problem because the backup wizard previously recognized this drive and saved on it several times before I was running ARO 2012 for cleaning the registry errors.  I can always open the player in windows Explorer and see the files it contains, but Explorer Windows XP now lists the drive as an "expansion disc" instead of a 'removable disk '.  When I right click in windows Explorer and open 'properties' for this drive, it shows it as a 'local disk' instead of a 'removable disk '.  The drive is ok when I click the button 'Remove hardware safely', and it reports "safe to remove hardware" after I click on "USB storage device - Drive (J :). ».  Help!

Who did.  Thank you!  Now... I used Aero2012 to clean up the errors in my registry that's because my computer is desperately slow, especially when you start (8-10 minutes) and also with internet explore (move cursor to previous typos when you compose a new e-mail message).  Is there a safe way for me to speed up my computer?

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my external hard drive, Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK

I have an HP Presario laptop running Windows Vista and it does not recognize my external hard drive, or my flash drives.

I have an external hard drive Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK.  It worked fine on my desktop, which works on XP.  I plug it to my computer laptop and nothing.

When I plugged it in the first place, he says that he needed to download the drivers.  I clicked 'ok' to automatically download drivers and a few seconds later, he said that it successfully completed the driver download/install.

I look under the drives in my computer and he's not here.

I went to start, right click computer, left you click on Manage and double-clique then under storage disk management.  All I see are C drive and recovery disc (D).  No other drives displayed.

I exitted who and set up the Control Panel, double click on Device Manager.  He said in the other topic peripheral USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge.  I don't know whether or not it is my external hard drive.  It indicates the Type of device: Other Devices and under device status it says: "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).  This operation requires an interactive window station.  To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

He asks if I want to reinstall the drivers, so I clicked that.  He couldn't find them / install them.

Still, I don't know if USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge is still linked to my external hard drive.

Help, please.  The same thing happens when I try to plug a flash/USB.

    Try this:

In the right click 'USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge' Device Manager under the other devices section, click unsintall or press the delete key. Reset with the connected hard drive it must be reinstalled, but under the USB controllers. Make sure the device works on the other computer cable can also go to bad.b

  • Backup and restore does not recognize my external HARD drive.

Is that possible reinstall or repair?

    Hello daniloalvesmaciel,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

First of all, I could check and see if the hard drive is listed on the Windows 7 Compatibility Center. Clickhere for a link to the Compatibility Center. If it's on the Compatibility Center, then check out the web site of the manufacturer for updates or drivers.

Then check if you see the external hard drive in the Device Manager.
    To check these options:

    1. click on the Start button to display the Start Menu , then selectControl Panel .
    2. the Control Panel window opens.
Now click system and security from this window.
    3 Scrollfor Device Manager.
    4. click on the Device Manager.
    5. to view material click on any category and the associated list of installed hardware. For example. Click on hard drives.
Right click on the external hard drive. You can see the different options likeUpdate driver software, disable, uninstall and properties etc.
    6. click on Properties to display the details of the hardware. Click theDriver tab , to view the details of device driver.
    7. then on the software update driver to check and see if you have the latest drivers.

Then check again and see if you can save on the external hard drive.

If this is not the case, try to map a drive to the external drive. Can you back up now.

Please respond and take stock of your problem.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • Windows is not to find external hard drives, etc.

Something screwed my PC Windows 7 big time.  It does not recognize one of the four external hard drives USB.  (He did recognize a USB flash drive).  I inserted the original installation CD Windows Home Premium 64 bit.  It does not recognize either.

I reconnected the hard drive to a USB port and open devices and printers.  The disk was shown, but had the icon of the troubleshooter.  I ran the store.  Firstly, he said that the problem had been solved and that the device was working properly.  When I right click the drive icon, I finally got an error message stating that the driver has not been installed successfully.  (Odddly, the icon of the printer has been replaced by a generic icon, if the printer is working.)

I don't know if I have a problem Windows or hardware.

I know I could run the system restore.  I could use Dariks Boot and Nuke to wipe the drive and start again.

    Can someone advise me?

    Hello

Your CD-ROM or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us

Unplug all devices – speakers, printer, etc...

Now plug the drive hard - is it recognized?

Step 1: Try to run Automated Troubleshooting Services and check out what he has to say.
    Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/hardware_device_problems

Step 2: You can also check in the device if Manager disk external drive is listed.

    a. connect the external hard drive to the computer.
    b. to open Device Manager, type devmgmt.msc in the search box start and press ENTER.
    c. check if the external drive is listed.
    d. in Device Manager, expand the hard drive listed in the list of devices.
    e. If the hard disk is listed, right click on it > click Properties.
    (f) in general, under control of device for the message status. After back if there is no error message.
Step 3: Check to see if the external drive is getting detected in disk management.

If the hard drive recognized in disk management and if there is no drive letter assigned, I suggest that you right-click on the drive and assign a drive letter and check to see if it helps:
Step 4: Since external hard drive is detected earlier, I suggest that you try to perform system restore.
    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

Step 5: Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:

    a. clickStart, click run, type sysdm.cpl in theOpen box and then click OK.

    b. click on thehardware tab.

    c. click theDevice Manager button.

    d. expandBus USB controllers.

    e. right click on each device under theBus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

    f. restart the computer and reinstall the USB controllers. Restarting the computer should automatically install the drivers.

    g. plug in the removable USB storage device and perform a test to ensure that the problem is solved.

Step 6: Install the windows updates and check.

  • computer will not install an external hard drive.

my computer does not recognize my external hard drive enclosure. I went to fry and the internal hard drive and the speaker works. I brought my computer to a friend's House and he read it to his house. It turns out that I had to put the jumpers on CSEL. When I got home and tried to plug it in, it won't read it again. I tried to troubleshoot it and he said that my mass storage device has a problem with the drivers. the thing is, he worked at the House of my friend with my computer. I do not understand and it makes me crazy. the only difference is that the reader reads to my friend's House and won't be at the mine.

    Hi danny,

Did you use the same cables in your home that have been used in your friends?

The physical location being the only variable might mean that a wire or cable is loose.

The reader must be reinstalled in the hard disc enclosure.

I recommend that you check for loose connections.
