I factory reset my desktop computer this morning, and it falls to me to the Windows XP Media Edition.

Now, I can't upgrade to Vista or Windows 7 or get support from Microsoft without having to pay for it since Windows XP is in a 'extended support phase' or some *. Help, please! Without Windows 7 that I can't even install my Microsoft Office 2013. I spent all day trying to figure this out and I'm desperate. Does anyone have an idea what I can try? I am at a loss!

"Finally, it does not give me the choice and just do it through my automatic updates"

Vista was never released an automatic update of Windows.

Meadow Vista release and for a short time after, there was a 'special' offer whereby if you bought XP you will receive a free upgrade to Vista.

That was offered by manufacturers of computers on their XP preinstalled and Microsoft on purchases at retail XP too much memory.

And you had to contact them about this.

If we do not know how you got Vista to be able to help you, except how to replace the software.

See you soon.

Shockwave Flash should not do that. However, if you want to delete it go to programs and features in Control Panel. Click once on Adobe Shockwave Player and click on uninstall in the menu at the top. All successful going great until I tried to turn my computer on this morning the screen BLACK nothing. The error message says that it computer was shut down improperly and now it will not load.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

The manufacturer was required to provide a way to reinstall Windows.

If it is not a set of disks with the computer, there will be a hidden restore partition (do not be confused with the system restore), you would use to return the computer to the State of the OOBE (Out of Box Experience).

Usually, just by pressing F11 continuously during the computer startup to display a boot menu offering the option you need.

    Hello

Would you please ask the same questions more then once in these Forums.

What you're doing is confusing in these Forums, as nobody else knows what advice are envisaged for you in other responses.

Other questions, it seems you have an HP computer.

Here is the information of HP for Vista from recovery to factory settings:

"Recover Windows Vista operating system using HP Recovery"

Restore the PC to its original state with the recovery discs

If the PC cannot access the Windows desktop, and the Recovery Manager cannot be started by selecting the f11 at startup key, you can use either the recovery disc custom that you created, or you can order a recovery CD to replace HP, to boot the PC and restore the hard drive to its original operating state.
NOTE: perform the recovery process by using the custom recovery disk you created can take less than an hour, whilst using the replacement disks ordered directly from HP can take four to six hours and includes several reboots.
If the HP Recovery Disk Manager can access the hard drive, it will attempt to repair the recovery partition. If successful, a prompt to continue execution of the recovery using the Recovery Disk Manager.
Use the recovery discs to restore the PC by following the steps below.
    1. Insert the recovery disc into the optical disc drive and start the computer.
If the computer is running, insert the reinstallation disc and immediately click on Start and select restart to force the computer to boot from the recovery disc.
    2. When prompted, Press any key to boot from the CD or DVD, press any key on the keyboard.
    3. Leave the recovery disk boot and load the files required, while the Microsoft loading screen appears. It may take several minutes to load the required files.
    4. When the HP Recovery Manager window appears, click Advanced options , System Recovery , and then click Next to open the Recovery Manager.
    5. etc.

If you are having problems using the HP recovery process, you will need to contact HP, because this is Recovery process HP, not Microsoft.

I recently did a factory reset on my computer and saved all my files on a flash drive when I load them onto my computer, they look all as internet files explore instead of dreamweaver files, please, help?

They probably had the IE icon because Windows automatically associate with IE html files.

It is of no consequence for your work in Dreamweaver, but you can change this association if you wish.

Go to control panel > default of programs > set Associations.

Yes, a system recovery will certainly increase the system performance.  You must make a backup of your personal data before you start.  I do a system restore at least once a year.  I love the feel of a computer without glitches.

  • I went to play a DVD on my computer this evening and received this msg: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

    DVD decoder not installed?

I went to play a DVD on my computer this evening and received this msg: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
A few weeks ago, I played DVD on my computer. I would like to know what is happening. Any ideas/suggestions?

I tried to play one of the same DVDs I played before... same message.  Nothing to my knowledge has been removed from my computer and I'm the only one with access... "very confused.

    Thanks if anyone can help.

Yes, and if you install the utility on your system, you'll see all decoders.

The utility will also tell you if a decoder is compatible or not.

Using Media Player version 10 or 11?

the utility tells me I have no decoder... the only thing I can think is that if I actually deleted it... I rarely remove anything because I do not add a lot... but it is possible a few weeks ago, I have to get rid of some things (I'm quite cautious because I'm not an expert).   It is the Media Player version 11, I was trying to use... but I rebooted now 10 to see if there was something to update related that mess.

because I used the VLC Player successfully, I have not yet tried Windows Media Player (since WMP reloading and load the codec pack)

So great to have the entry of a person who knows what he's doing.  Thanks again. I will try the Windows Media Player later and see if I have his use of return.

    Have a great day!
