I forgot my wireless security exp

I forgot my exp security key for my wireless router

Hello

Check with the router manufacturer support, their books online and ask in their forums (if any).
Most have excellent online help. Reset the router and write down the password and paste
on the bottom of the router or in another safe place.

I hope this helps.

  • modem router WAG120N wireless security configuration

I use modem router wag120n but is confused abt how to set up wireless security of it is. Security Wireless Configuration recommended in tutorial given here is very different from what is given in my page of configuration routrs.

I don't know how to manage the key renewal option. If I leave as 3600 seconds does that mean that I have to enter my device a new key wireless connected to the router after every 1 hour?

Well well with firmware linksys/cisco security gateway wireless configuration seems even that is mentioned in the link provided: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=7b0d8344c5524f75a8d5b... . But if in case it looks different let it me know what exactly what you see in the configuration page.

Group key renewal determines how many times your group exchange key. The renewal time should not be too short or too long. The default is 3600 seconds.

You don't have to deal with the renewal of key. It happens automatically. Customers do not lose connectivity, just the key for the changes of the connection. You won't notice. The longer the interval longer guarantee the link (in theory) as a striker who wants to break the encryption key has less time and less data to work on...

But once again: it does not affect customers wireless connected. It's all past automatically just as it happens when the connection is established in the first place.

I can get wireless if the router is not secure, but cannot configure wpa and wireless security.  Instructions followed on linksys tutorial but still connect wirelessly if I select wpa security.   In addition, I can't find a way to change the ssid, the pages of router do not match documentation.  The version of my router is v1.  Is this obsolete, I know that there is a v2.  Any help will be appreciated.

  • Impossible to adjust the parameters of wireless security

I recently changed my OS XP to Win7. I have been make setting up things and installed what appears to be a much more recent version of Linksys Advisor than what I had. I had to change my wireless security settings, but ran into a problem. I have my login and my password, I get no error when entering that. When I go to finalize a change, I get the error message:

    'Device update error ".

This method or operation is not implemented.

so, what's the problem here? I don't have too download a reprint of the Linksys Advisor?

    My router is a WRT54GS

I tried to run the Advisor in XP compatibility mode. Not good.

If the software does not work on Win7, maybe you can try manual mode of the router configuration. Here is the procedure.

  • WRT610N v2 distribute IPs when wireless security is enabled

I got my wrt610n v2 for several months and it has worked very well.  But today, something happened.  When I could not get an IP address on the wireless, I reset it.  That did not help.  So, I have connected from a wired computer and spent several hours debugging.  What I've discovered, is that when wireless security is enabled the DHCP wireless no longer works (ALL the wireless security).  If I turn off security, the instant connection of all wireless computers.  Turn it back on, all clients will try to connect, but get no IP address.  (Yes, the security settings on clients are correct).  I do not use the 5 GHz, only the 2.4 for B/G.  Here are some things I've tried:

    1. reset to factory settings.  No change.

    2 reinstalling firmware.  No change.

    3. all types of wireless security.  They do the same thing.  Once activated, no more IPs get handed out.

    4. different SSID. No effect.

    5. remove all wireless network PC and their implementation from scratch.  The problem is not with the customers.  All machines (more my phone) have the same problem.

    6. different wireless channels.

    Other notes:

-The router is properly broadcast the SSID when activated.

-It passes both the type of security.  My laptop win7 will correctly identify the type of security and request the appropriate key/expression/whatever whenever security is enabled.

-J' had the same SSID and WPA phrase for years and used for several months with this router with no problems.  So I know that security is properly configured on all my machines.

Any ideas?  Right now I have a non-secure network set in place and it works fine.

Just thought I'd give an update.  A new router hooked up and got the same behavior.  So that it reduces... should be environmental.  Later I thought about it.  A neighbour had stolen my SSID but not broadcast it so I couldn't see it.  All my devices were getting confused.  Choose a new SSID and bam, fixed everything.   I was not even using a default SSID.  I'm guessing they were putting it router for the first time and just picked up something they had seen before.

EDIT > I tried different SSID as solution before (see the original post), but that has not worked.  I think that I also need a different channel.

I downloaded the latest firmware (WRT300N - v1.1_1.51.2), but 6% there is a message "Firmware upgrade Failed. I have a WRT300N v1, download offers only 1.1 & 2.0. Feature non - wireless router still works.
For now I have disabled the wireless security, but reboot is still produced. I restored to factory settings to see if it stops resetting.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you Brent

    Broadcom 802.11n wireless network adapter
    Windows 7 Home premium 32-bit

    Hello
There are different reasons for this.
Someone wrote that the ZoneAlarm firewall could block the wireless network adapter.
In this case, I would recommend removing the system Zonealarm.

Another said that he could solve this problem by unplugging or resetting the router.

Also try to disable the wireless card in Device Manager.
Then restart the laptop and activate the card LAN once more.

    Good luck

  • Brand new C309g connect not wireless enabled wireless security options

Printer connects via wired ethernet. I can use the http utility.

Printer connects through secure wireless connections.

Default printer in the autoconfig (169.xxx) when connected via WEP (both open and shared), does not connect with an IP address manually. Can't access http utility.

Printer not autoconfig even when connected via WPA-Personal - instead only says: "no link found."

The printer is in the clean room with the router.

All OTHER wireless network devices work perfectly and deal with security changes.

I have inherited the network devices that make me want to run with WEP.

I ran the HP Network Diagnostics. It can access my router very well. It does not find the printer.

    Router is D - Link DIR-655.

I jump through the right hoops - router to refresh, restore the default settings on the printer, etc. All other wireless network devices work correctly.

I like to shoot a 'office space' on this brand new printer - save me please do!

    -mooi

Oops, my mistake.  Thanks for pointing it out.

Another idea is to make sure that the firmware is being updated on the router.

Moreover, since the control panel of the printer: Setup > network > wireless network Test.  It will be the radio of the printer self-test.

  • Pavillion dv6 Wireless Security Configuration Question: router beats Notebook?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook running Windows 7 that I connect to a new router.

The router offers a high security setting: WPA - PSK (TKIP) and WPA - PSK (AES).  My laptop does not show this as being available.

It shows that of the two, but not both combined.

Does anyone know if my laptop can provide this level of security setting so I can match my router?

My cell phone as a card Intel Centrino Wireless N-1000.

    Thank you!

    Dear Dragon-fur,

Thank you very much for your kind response and assistance.

I used the AES as WPA - PSK (AES) parameter.

However, it seems that a better level of security is available, at least on my router, which combines the AES parameter with the TKIP {WPA - PSK (TKIP)} parameter.  It shows like the WPA - PSK (AES) + WPA - PSK (TKIP).  My notebook, however, does not give this combo setting option.

    I'm misunderstanding you?

    Thank you very much!

  • I forgot my WIRELESS password to use my wireless printer... Please help.

I don't remember my password for Wf - Fi for the wireless printer.  What should I do?

    Hi Joel,

Contact technical support for your printer or your router or your computer (any device is the source location for the seizure of the password - probably the printer here because otherwise if you were wireless, you could get the password for your computer, as would use them the same as the one with the router and therefore would not have posted here).

Ask them to help to do a hard reset of the password (probably a button or code on the printer) that he should return to something they know as the default reset.  Keep them then on the line to help you add a new (with appropriate security algorithms if included) and update the router and computers as necessary and check that everything works again before let him you get away.

    Good luck!
