TO NUMBER A BLOCKED (no caller ID).  Said that they were receiving messages from my computer it has been infected by a virus. I ran the two Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, and as MANY say that NOTHING malicious was detected.

  Please advise me how to proceed. I asked them to call back tomorrow.

  If you allowed them access to your PC, then it is a problem. I considered reinstalling my OS and change all my passwords. It would also make sense, if you use the online banking etc., to inform your bank that you have a security hole on your PC. This will alert them to anyone using your current password to the Bank etc.

  In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value,
  If you leave them in your computer, which knows what losses they did are
  where confidential information they stole.

  So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following

  1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.
  2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other

  It is a total scam! Do a search on these forums and you will find a LOT of references. Never leave in your computer.

  I just got a call from someone claiming to be a representative of Microsoft to report that my network downloads could be accompanied by unwanted files without my knowledge.  I know it's a scam, but I played along anyway.  The representative asked me to press the keys Ctrl + key Microsoft Logo at the same time.  Of course I hung up immediately, but I can't find in any of my research, what will make this combination of keys.  Can anyone advise, please.  Thank you.

  I just got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft.  He directed me to go to MS Windows event viewer and County errors and warnings in the Applications and the system section.  Then he asked me to let them access my computer and fix any problems that would be 'crash' of my computer.  When I refused him access said he couldn't help me and hung up.  I do not think that it was Microsoft but are ratings warning and error a problem?  I use Windows XP.

I started to see through his bull quickly while I was talking to him, and after research I found confirmation that he indeed was a scam. As I was talking to him, I had on my computer, not to do what he told me or visit the page he was trying to direct me, but looking at the probability of this being a scam. My question is to get online while we were connected to the phone I made my system vulnerable? We have DSL and I was wondering if they already have my phone number could they hack into my computer or follow my ISP just connected. I think I'm fine, but now I'm getting paranoid who were able to carve in. It may just be a case of hypochondria computer. Any idea is appreciated. Thank you!
