Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

Windows Vista

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If that does not read this information

the link below is how to download and get a vista disk startup repair, which you can start from the

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-XP-Vista/

and if all else fails and you need to reinstall vista are the normal methods for computers preinstalled vista portable

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send vista recovery discs

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

    Hi TheCookeNinja,

I suggest you run the check disk (chkdsk) of the Recovery Console & check if you are able to boot to the desktop correctly.

Step 1: To start the Recovery Console, you can follow this link.

To start the computer and use the Recovery Console

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_overview.mspx?mfr=true

Step 2: At the Recovery Console prompt, type the following command and then press ENTER:

    CHKDSK [/ p]: [/ r]

Note: At first, try to run chkdsk/p & check if it helps. Later, you can run chkdsk/r.

If you have not saved your data and you want to start the computer with Linux Livecd such as Knoppix and copy your data files on an external hard drive. It is a precautionary measure before the step follows because things happens. ;-)

    Then do a repair installation.

If the repair installation does not work, test the equipment to ensure that none have been damaged during the blackout and then do a clean install of Windows.

  • Does anyone has found a fix for the black screen of death on Mass Effect 3 on Xbox 360?

My game Mass Effect 3 crashed on Xbox 360.  It freezes and becomes a black screen of death just prior to the start menu.  For some reason, is that xbox live associated profile.  It works on any profile other than the one I used and played through all 3 games.  I spent an hour and a half with xbox live support and they could not solve the problem. They also recognized that I'm not the only one with this problem.  We tried to remove and reinstall my profile, I downloaded my profile on the hard drive of my another xbox 360 console without result. We also moved all the parties backed up to the cloud and remove all content of Mass Effect 3, still no luck. They suggested that I come here and try to find answers and start a rallying cry for a patch to fix this problem.  It's extremely frustrating after playing every game Mass Effect 3 thanks to several times that all of my choices and just saved games be erased by a stupid bug in the game.  I have hundreds, if not thousands of hours invested in the series.  I don't want to start over with Mass Effect 1 and play through it again on a new profile.  Who can say this bug won't happen on my new profile anyway?  Please, if anyone else has this post problem here if you have resolved, or simply to add your voice to those who need this fixed a bug.  Thank you.

  • Got the blue screen of death on the old Dell PC that I can to restore without losing my son especially pictures files

    Insurmountable boot disk

The safest option is to remove the drive from the computer, mount it in a USB caddy and plug it into another computer to see if it can be read.

This involves absolutely no changes on disk and therefore has the greatest opportunity to recover the files intact. Although you can try to boot from a Windows DVD and run a repair when it comes to something like the photos that are by definition irreplaceable, I would always look a 1 passive recovery.

You can then go to active repair knowing that essential equipment is secure.

  • I downloaded an update and restarted my computer, received the blue screen of death shortly after the computer restarts. Now it does not start

I don't know when the downloaded update, the computer has been restarted on September 10, 2010 to install updates. Shortlyl once the computer is restarted, I got the blue screen of death.  with the details of error like:

Stop 0 x 000000050 (0 x 000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88001DCAE4, 0xFFFFF8A00B490027, 0 x 00000000000002) do not know if the number of zeros is exactly right in one of those, but it's super frustrating.

I tried to restart my computer in repair as recommended (get blue screen of death), I tried to reboot normally, loop just restart procedures asking if I want to restart in repair mode.  I tried SafeMode (BSOD), I tried to restart with last working restart (restart loops), I tried to choose the "Computer repair" BSOD I tried a diagnosis and all past.

    Help!

    Thank you.

So yes actually hear nothing helped me.  Seems that, given that the computer is not stopped correctly and my hard drive was not recognized there starting the cycle upward or give me the BSOD.  Put it in my Ubuntu CD spare which I've had since my last PC hard drive became corrupt and force back across my hard drive.  After doing this, I was able to do a boot repair, who led for the BSOD.  Not sure how that actually fixed, lost about 10 hours of my day.  So I guess I can chalk up to Microsoft and a reminder on why I should buy Mac for now on... an update shouldn't really cause such problems.

I get that not everyone has the same PC, so it is difficult to tell if an update is bad, but he should not do this and if an update is the cause of a certain segment of consumers who are updating must be taken down for everyone, or at least the users with the configuration that is known to have problems with an update.

Problem is solved, had to go back to a previous version of good boot where I have not install updates again.  Now, I'm trying to understand who was was bad, so I can leave my computer knows to ignore.

    Nice day.

  • Difficulty for nvlddmkm.sys Black Screen Of Death

I think I finally found a solution for the black screen of death bugs nviddmkm.sys and all the latest drivers Nvidia.  It works on my IQ816 with NVIDIA 9600GS, this should work for most TouchSmarts who have black screens randomly.

It is a free utility called RivaTuner which works with Nvidia cards.  You can get it here:

    http://downloads.Guru3D.com/download.php?Det=163#download

    Follow these steps:

    Install Rivatuner.

Click OK when it gives you the box of not being a supported card or whatever.

On the screen that appears, click on the small icon next to customize it's under the driver settings in the middle of the screen.  Then click on the map icon.  It looks like a video card and should be the first icon on the left.

On the screen of the base clock, click the check box at the top to allow.  Click on detect when he asks.  The value of the drop-down list on the right to 3D.  Then set the clock of kernel to 550 or as close as you can get to it.  I had 551.

You can check start with Windows or to wait and see if it is correct, and then return to the screen and check start with Windows.  Who will ensure that the setting will stay all the time.  Otherwise, it is just to the original settings.

Click OK.  And it should be.

If you need help, watch the video tutorial about it here:

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=NU8_EMjSUf4

So far, since I did that, no black screen at random death.  So this can be.

I am pleased to announce, this was the solution for my plant video.  I got not a single accident because I did.  RivaTuner saved.  My pc works perfectly now.

  • Windows 7 black screen of death - please help!

Hi, so due to a failure, I had to turn disconnect a computer from work from the wall, wait, and plug it in again. I made sure to turn off safe and everything...

in any case when I turned it back on, I got the black startup screen. I tried safe mode (cannot start... end by themselves KSOD followed by restarting the computer), I tried to repair the system and the system restore (does not work because I have no restore points). I have tried "enable boot logging", "departure from the last known good configuration", "safe mode", all with the same problem. If I can get past the login screen that it just goes to the black screen of death, followed by an automatic restart. Then when it starts again it says "BOOTMGR is missing".

Any suggestions? I did a system repair disc and started with the CD player, and who also did nothing. Starting to think I'm a little screwed here.

    Hello

I realize has the inconvenience that you are experiencing with your PC to start. I will certainly help you to question.

I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. However, this error indicates that the boot sector is corrupted or missing.

I suggest you to refer to the section of rebuild data BCD (BCD) of Windows recovery environment (WinRE) from the link below and check if it helps:

  • Satellite L450D - 13 X - black screen of death/Blue Screen of Death

    Hello everyone.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D - 13 X for children, and for the price it's a good laptop. Have had no problems with it until two weeks ago, when the screen froze for boys while playing a game and downloading a program on the net. Had to make a stop of force and since then, we have a BSoD on each startup. That's what we tried:

On "Starting Windows", we are given the option to either 'Launch Startup Repair' that ends as BSoD or "Start Windows normally" who returns to the list of option "starting Windows."
Any attempt enter 'Safe Mode' BSOD results.
Attempt to boot an ISO of the disk recovery Windows on a USB key (we did put highlight and make promotion up) results in BSoD. Borrowing a correct installation of Windows 7 DVD and highlighting what an option cause BSoD.

In fact, the only option that we used who threw something different has been using advanced startup options. On one of these options, we've got the Blue Screen of Death with the following information:

    Unmountable_Boot_Volume
Disable memory the Bios Options such as cache/occultation

    Technical info

    Stop: 0x000000ED (0xFFFFFA80023C2CDO 0xFFFFFFFFC0000185 0000000000000000 0 x 0 x 0000000000000000)

I don't mind erase the hard drive and leave, there's nothing on what is essential. Very, very well, I'd appreciate a steer on it. Checked the Web for things and nothing seems to help for other options. I'm not particularly tech literate but can follow directions.

    Thanks in advance.

It is really possible that the HARD drive is faulty.
If possible try to get another same HDD used for test purposes and install OS using the Toshiba recovery image.

A friend of mine had a similar problem and after Exchange of HARD drive, everything went well again.

  • I just got a black screen with "this copy of Windows is not genuine".

Original title: OS not real question?

Well, I bought a computer off Craig's list this week. Yes, I know this isn't the safest place to get a computer, but what's done is done. The current operating system of the computer is Win7. However I just got the black screen with "this copy of Windows is not genuine". I looked at the back of the computer and saw that he has a real sticker Win XP Pro. So is there anyway I can just download XP Pro on this computer and be good from there?

    Thank you
    KnightChain

Check with the manufacture of the computer to see if you have a "recovery partition" and how to use it to restore XP or if they still have the support of Windows XP available with they can send you to usually a small fee.

    Hi Mamluk,.

You seem to have answered your own query...

If a new user account works and one does not, then it is clear that the old user account is damaged.

You can follow the instructions in the link mentioned to transfer all your files to the new account below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

Then, it is recommended to delete the old profile without work.

According to test results, you posted, and it does not point to hard drive failure. Is your older machine for less than 12 months?

In this cases aged under 12 months contact HP in your local area and organize a repair service.
