  • Impossible to reinstall Vista after replacing the motherboard

    I have replace my mobo last week.  I still have the same hard disk, cpu and RAM.  After starting my computer to the top, she would not accept vista for some reason any (I don't remember why) he did without BSOD for half a second, and then restart.  I find out one of my RAM sticks, lock was not engaged.  I fixed that, but it did not work.  I tried the system repair and recovery system, but they do not work.  I tried to reinstall vista with my recovery disks.  I reformatted the hard drive and complete the installation.  When the computer reboots, it said I had a system configuration error and I had to contact my computer manufacturer.  Of course HP could not help me because I have replaced the motherboard. I'm able to run my conputer because I installed ubuntu later. Everything works. My question is, when I have windows 7, I have to but the commercial version or do the upgrade?

    You will need a full retail version of Windows 7 or you could just buy a license for Windows 7 system builder OEM.

    -OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

    -OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

    -OEM versions allow all the hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard- that's why you could not reinstall Windows Vista on the new motherboard, because his attached to the motherboard that initially provided with HP and Vista recovery disk system are supposed to work only with him.

    -OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Reinstall vista after a Windows Update due to die and not restart

    I had problems with update of vista on a 3 year old dell, alienware, 9700 computer.  Kept hanging up on the updates of windows.  So I bought a new bigger drive for the laptop.  Vista installed off the coast of resettlement came with the computer.  Has started to update the windows updates, something like 102 of them, for a total of about 320 MB.  Arrived at about 35 and he leaves, next time got another 27, then it froze, died the me... couldn't do restart to vista.  He is now in black screen _ hungup.  No recovery on vista recovery software came with the computer.  It will go in the first screen of windows when you use the recovery disk and then freezes.  All I want to do is get this hard drive even when formatted, cleaned, and reinstalled vista.  I will install one update, and if it does not the computer will go in the trash.  This is my backup.  Can you offer any suggestions on how I can get cleaned hard drive when it does not yet recognize the vista reinstall/recovery disk came with the computer.  Thanks for any help.

    Jim

    Hi Jim,.

    Ø you are able to boot from the CD / DVD to reinstall Windows vista?

    I suggest to try to start the computer in safe mode and see if you can boot to the desktop in safe mode. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping key F8 during restart. Once you see the option to start in safe mode select and press to enter.

    Access the link to learn more about how to start the computer in safe mode:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    If you can start the computer in safe mode, you can try performance a system restore to the point before the update have been installed and check if it helps.

    To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    A. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    B. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    C. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    D. click Finish.

    The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

    Access the link below to see the system restore:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-system-restore

    You can also try to set the BIOS default settings on the computer and try to change the boot sequence to boot from the CD / DVD and try to reinstall Windows Vista by formatting the hard drive.

    NOTE: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from configuration can resolved BIOS/CMOS settings. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

  • I had to reinstall Vista and now my display driver and the microphone does not work.

    I recently had to reinstall Windows Vista on my PC.  Now my audio works perfectly, but my microphone will not even if the Control Panel recognizes it is connected and working properly.  Also, my display driver stopped responding from time to time and crashes my computer.  Geek Squad, I need new drivers, and they want me to pay 130 to install.  I'd rather do it myself.  I tried to install the driver for my card NVIDIA and Vista, but that did not help.

  • Reinstall Vista after hard drive failure

    My hard drive crashed and another was installed by a tech where I took the laptop Dell Inspiron 1525.  The tech installed Vista Home premium on my computer, but it wasn't my reinstallation DVD, I had Dell when I buy the system.  I need to reinstall Vista using my DVD.  Questions: 1 - do reinstall it without losing my existing data?  How do I know if the reinstallation DVD contains Service Pack 2?  The version of the technology used included SP2.  I guess it would be a problem if the DVD of resettlement was not SP2.  Thank you

  • Satellite P300 - 18 M: how reinstal Vista after repair the HARD disk

    Hello

    A month ago my laptop has suffered a critical failure of hard drive. So I sent in under warranty and it come back a day or two ago. With him a piece of paper stating that I have to reinstall windows in bold, yet windows (Vista) originally came with it (without a cd or a dvd if I remember correctly).

    I thought I was going to see the same installation process of windows the manual tells me to go through that when I arrived to the laptop, instead, I get a black screen back apparently under windows 98 (?) with "C:\ > ' ask me for an order or a file.

    So yes, I'm completely lost.
    Thanks for any help in advance.

    > more windows (Vista) came originally with it (without a cd or a dvd if I remember correctly
    You are right. But the laptop came with the option of disk recovery HARD and with a GREAT recovery disc creation notification using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery disc creator.

    So if you didn't create the recovery disc then you would not be able to install Vista again. :(mais autant que je sais que vous pouvez commander un Recovery disk (pour tous ceux qui ne l t créer une disquette de récupération propre) from here):

  • Reinstall Vista after the installation of 10.

    Separated from this thread.

    I now have an HP computer running Windows 10. I had previously updated to windows 7 Vista, its Windows operating system to the original address. It runs very slowly and I want to either bring it back to Vista or windows 7 and from there, I put windows 7 on it. The problem is the recovery discs I got are not working. (he thinks that they are not the correct discs).  He had a 3-disc set that I created and it seemed to start working until he asked disc 2 and I tried to put in 3 times. It does not recognize it, so I guess that its defective?  Whenever I'm in restoring my computer and choose to take it back to the original, he begins to do something and turns off the monitor and the computer will beep. What continues?  How to restore my computer to original if I put windows 7 on it?  It is a 32-bit.

    Hello

    Please start your own Thread in these Forums.

    See if HP have yet available Vista recovery discs.

    ___________________________________

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

    "How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

    And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

    And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • How to reinstall Vista after installing Linux?

    Once tired of these multiple Vista Home crashes that I decided to install Linux (OpenSuse). Although a capable OS, I need some windows software and want to restore Vista on this machine. I have the system restore partition, but when I try to run it, it gives me an error. Apparently Windows no longer recognizes the MBR as it has been recreated by GRUB.

    I don't have a Windows Installer disk, just the installation of system restore (F11).

    Is there a bootable utility I can get to delete the Linux partitions, recreate the C: drive * and * difficulty the MBR? After that, I think I can use the system restore.

  • How can I reinstall Vista after a HD failure?

    I have windows vista OS, well I did until the HARD drive failed and I can't get it back. How can I get the system operational again without buying a new operating system that I own it. ???

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
