I had to upgrade to windows 8?

Hello

I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum for this.
I am running Windows XP on a PC a little old (5 years :)) with the following specifications:)
Intel Core2Duo, E8400 @ 3 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti
3 GB RAM
If I need to add something, please let me know.
I want to spend to Win8, but I'm not sure whether it would be better for my computer. I have heard from some people that Win8 is designed to work best for old computers but heard of some that it would slow down my computer.
I'm getting sick of all the shifts in XP, not being able to correctly perform several tasks (fetching a file .rar by surfing the web, for example, slowing down the computer in a horrible way), so I decided to upgrade.
So should I upgrade?
If Win8 isn't the best option, Win7 will be better?
Thank you!

If the custom of the upgrade wizard on your machine, it may be a roundabout way of you say that the machine is too old or not compatible with Windows 8.

Make a backup image of your XP operating system then try the preview of Windows 8.1 and see if that will take place.

As I have no experience with TV cards I can not really help you much further on this issue.

  • have to reactivate Vista Home Premium (for the second time), but did not have the product key - thinking that I had to upgrade to Windows 7 instead.

Now, I had recover and restore to factory settings on my PC for the 2nd time in 2 years (I think a problem for Vista?).  Rather than activate Vista Home Premium (which I did not anyway-25 character product code), I thought it would be beneficial (and relieve another instance) upgrade to Windows 7?  I would appreciate any thoughts. Is that what I do online and Windows 7 will work around the Windows Vista Home Premium?  No risk of problems since Windows 7 is new?  I basically use it for home, but like following applications.  Windows 7 is having the same issues that has Vista?

You cannot switch to windows 7 since Vista without activation of Vista.

  • Windows 7 X 86 (32 bit) acknowledges that 3 of my 4 GB of RAM. I had to upgrade to Windows 7 (64 bit) x 64?

Hey everybody... Here is a... I just upgraded to Win 7 from Vista (both x 86) on my Sony VAIO VGN - 280 which was delivered with Vista Home Prem x 86 and State of Sony that it is capable of 4 GB of RAM. I just upgraded from 3 GB to 4 full... and of course only 3 usable according to the properties of the system. You all say it is cos x 86 OSs are not capable of 4 GB of RAM but it is simply not the case with everyone, I have read other forums where people... and also where x 64 users can access all their 4 GB, only 3 or 3.xGB. I ran Linux x 86 here, which uses the 4 full and have an installation of OS X Leopard which detects and uses all the 4 GB. My BIOS detects all 4 too. Is there ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I can get Win 7 to use the full 4 GB DDR2 (2 PC 5300 667) RAM I have installed? Other system specifications:

Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
T5450 processor from Core 2 Duo 667 MHz
Intel GMA X 3100 Video (total available graphics memory: 358 MB - system 64, 294 shared)

    Any help appreciated thanks

ALSO: If I upgrade to Win 7 x 64 and the full 4 GB of RAM is used by the system, is not the compromise that a x 64 OS is more demanding on system resources, including the RAM? That is to say. Probably performance I am not any better? Err

Additional question: how update BIOS? My BIOS is showing the full 4, in fact, is my install OS X (and he also uses). But Win 7 x 86 says 4 installed, using 3. How will I know if that 1 extra is or is not 'lost', IE is going to graphics (c.300MB in my case), etc.?

There is no way to get a Windows XP, Vista or Win 7 32 - bit operating system to use all 4 GB installed RAM. It is set for what call compatibility Microsoft issues.

If you want or need to be able to use all 4 GB or more, you will need to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system.

Yes, 64-bit requires more RAM than 32-bit in order to work properly.

A motherboard which only supports a total of 4 GB of RAM will not, generally, the memory of the mapping feature that allows 64-bit to use all 4 GB installed RAM, so won't be able to use around 3.7 GB.

RAM usage is not the most compelling reason to move to a 64-bit operating system. More general users will get even close to 2 GB of RAM memory used heavy resources intensive applications.

The most convincing is security because 64 - bit done very little concession towards backwards compatibility in a time where security was not considered a problem.

Do NOT update your BIOS unless you have a problem with the BIOS. It seems that you do not have. Mike Hall MVP - Windows Desktop Experience http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/

  • I'm on Vista. I had to upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8? The Upgrade Advisor offered both.

I have Windows XP Pro. and lose the connection with my printer (HP Officejet 6500 and I was told that I had to upgrade to Windows 7) Can I upgrade to Windows 7 without having to first install Vista?

You can - clean installation however.  No direct path from Windows XP to Windows 7.

If the machine is old, but - I wouldn't bother.  You will end up by it hate because it is slow and probably blame the operating system.

The upgrade to Windows 7 is not a solution for the loss of connectivity to a printer - not a logic.

    Is what SPECIFIC printer this?

    HP Officejet 6500 All - in - One Printer series - E709

If you download and install the latest appropriate WIndows XP complete software driver for your printer and maybe upgrade the firmware of the printer itself-, it would probably solve your problem.  If you use it as a wireless printer (it is printed through your network, but not connected by a cable [ethernet]) so you can check for updgrades to the firmware of your router (level) and reconfigure your network completely wireless if you start with a good foundation.

  • Vista 32 bit Home Premium upgrade to Windows 7

I have been using Windows Vista, 32-bit, Home Premium with success.  Recently, it has been suggested to me that I had to upgrade to Windows 7.  I want to keep, at least, I currently have the same capabilities.  I have a few questions.

    1. because I don't want to back up or modify files or programs, is it wise to upgrade to Windows 7, 32 bit, Home Premium?

    2. in the case, which version do you recommend?

    3. should I download it from Microsoft or do I have to download it also?

    4. If not should I buy in a store?  Could you recommend one?

5 is it complicated to install?  Do you know a good site that could help me to install it?

    6. Finally you would give a price range that I have to pay?

I know this has been long, but it seems to be a complex issue.

Thank you very much for your time and your support.

The only legal Windows 7 download available is now Microsoft, as Microsoft has stopped DigitalRiver Windows 7 ISO downloads.

  • Prepare Windows 7 upgrade to Windows 8

I received an email on my windows phone telling me that I had to upgrade my Windows 7 to another version to 8. Which version is only & 8 will work on my laptop without a touchscreen?

Who says you have to upgrade to Windows 8? Please note Windows 7 is still a version supported by Windows and continues to be supported until January 2020.

You are not forced to move to Windows 8.

Windows 8 does not require a touch screen.

In addition, the next major release of Windows, Windows 10 will be free to users of Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1. If you choose to update now for Windows 8, you will need to buy it.

  • Cost of upgrade for windows 8

It is actually a question of both parties. I just bought a desktop computer with windows 8 and found that I can't play or burn DVDs. It has been suggested to me that I had to upgrade to windows 8 pro, so I can get the windows media center. I found that upgrading to windows 8 pro, it will cost you $99.00 currently, but I was not able to know how much the center of the film windows cost. The cost does anyone know? With regard to the second part of this question: when I got windows 7, it came with windows media player. I often use to watch DVDs without problem and sometimes burn home made DVD I would do in windows live movie maker. import my DVD files to windows live movie maker has been possible as well. I can't do that with windows 8. So the question is: if I upgrade to windows 8 pro, and then get the windows media center, it will be possible to perform these tasks (to play DVD, burn DVDs and import to windows live movie maker)?  P.S. I am upward in age and had computer for about 3 years now, so I'm still not too familiar with the computer language. Thanks for you effort in this case.

My laptop had Vista and I've upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. My laptop computer motherboard went bad shortly after I upgraded and the portable computer is no longer in use.

I suggest that you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage diagnostic tool in normal mode (not safe mode) and copy and paste the results into a response for further analysis:

Run the tool and when it ends, click the copy button, open a text such as Word or Notepad file and select Edit, paste. You can paste directly into an answer here. Open a response, right click and select Paste.

  • I tried a number of times to upgrade to windows 10. I get c1900101 - 4000D as a mistake. Once, my entire hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall Windows 7.

I tried a number of times to upgrade to windows 10. I get c1900101 - 4000D as a mistake. Once, my entire hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall Windows 7. I am also having a problem installing Adobe Flash player. It is said that API-MS-Win-Core-Registery-l1-1-0.dll is missing but I don't know what it is. Any suggestions?

"Configuration settings" is the final phase and fault codes look like c1900101 x400xx. The most common failure here is 40017, which means we could not start. Since this is the first time start us Windows 10 with all the drivers in place, once again, drivers are usually the cause of the accident. These issues tend to be less transient than the 30018 s, then a second test is less likely to solve the problem. Yet, it never hurts to try.

    Try to upgrade manually:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

If the problem persists, try the upgrade manually, but choose the option to keep personal files only, you will have to reinstall applications.

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 which has had significant problems.

Hello, I do not speak English and I use a translator. I apologize.
On a laptop, where I installed Photoshop CS4 11.0.2 unfortunately not disable the program, I've upgraded to Windows 10 which has had significant problems. I managed to turn the PC, I found the old Windows Photoshop file and launch the program gives me "error 6".
Can I do anything to retrieve the software with its customizations?
    Thank you. Cristian

Error code 6 indicates a failure of the installation.  You cannot drag the folder of Photoshop from your old operating system to your new folder Windows 10.  It will not work like that.  You need to reinstall windows from Windows 10.

If you do not disable Photoshop in your old operating system, then you may need to contact customer support, explain the situation and ask them to reset your activations.  They will certainly do it for you.

You can download the installer from here.  Scroll through the list to find your language version.
