Prepare Windows 7 upgrade to Windows 8

I received an email on my windows phone telling me that I had to upgrade my Windows 7 to another version to 8. Which version is only & 8 will work on my laptop without a touchscreen?

Who says you have to upgrade to Windows 8? Please note Windows 7 is still a version supported by Windows and continues to be supported until January 2020.

You are not forced to move to Windows 8.

Windows 8 does not require a touch screen.

In addition, the next major release of Windows, Windows 10 will be free to users of Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1. If you choose to update now for Windows 8, you will need to buy it.

    Hello

I bought the HP Slimline Office 450 - a60n last month.  He has often used to freezing. I downloaded Office 365, then Windows 10 and have a 3 TB Seagate drive and backup HD.  When the PC has frozen it cannot close by the Task Manager and I had to turn the PC off by avoiding the normal shutdown procedure.  I've been ripping of CD and recently it started to freeze in iTunes as well as on Google Chrome.  The PC was fine this morning with a gel, but returned upward again normally.  I went out for a few hours and turned the PC on to find the "prepare windows" message to arrive.  After a few moments the windows screen came, but everything changed.  He was missing a lot and what icons were left returned to the original size.  Office has dissappeared as had my photos and documents. The PC freezes if I try to restore the files.  "Preparation of windows" message every time and some work I did between start-ups is lost.  It's square. Please can someone help me because my computer knowledge is low. Thank you.

    Hi Sargoza,

Thank you for picking me up in it.  I apologize for the delay in answering this is only because I was only using my nephew more in computer science that we could work on it yesterday.  We had the impression to have obtained, by trial and error with only a few minor questions functionally remaining.  If we have the problem once again, we can miss all the - ass-in-bag that we went down.

The only way we could get this to work for him was the creation of an administrator with full administrator access privileges account and then create a new user account for the PC.  To transfer only the most important things through like photos, documents, music, etc. and the items selected in the folder of the Aps.  We believe that the problem was corruption or conflict within the folder of the Aps.  I asked the removal of all the Aps that I am unlikely to use (Wintangent was an I wasn't happy) and he also removed Trusteer? because research, he found that this approach had caused some problems with crashing.  It of early days but no crashes yet.

We noticed that the backup drive Seagate doesn't seem to be back up whenever the PC was the 10 Windows, but don't come back for me since September 15. It is a continuous backup and so we re-set the back-up and if everything goes well on the next day or so I'll be able to see if this is working properly now.

It is difficult to transfer contact in Outlook through addresses, but all my mail is held on the server of my ISP and came home once that Outlook has been reconfigured. I now also use the Onedrive and copied through all the precious objects as that contained in addition to rear up nicely with the help of 'SeaTools' would indicate that the Seagate drive is functioing normally.

So thank you once again for taking the time to help me, I hope situation now resolved.

  • "Preparing Windows" on every boot and all the lost data

    Hello

I was facing this problem since yesterday. The computer was running slow and suddenly, a blue screen with "" appeared. There was a status of error under completion data. I waited until he got to 100% and I was expecting then reboot as it was written. There can be no. If I pressed the power button to restart manually. The next time computer starts, he says "Prepare Windows" I couldn't do anything other than wait until he did prepare. Once logged into my account, I noticed that everything on my desktop disappeared. All my parameters passed. applications and personal files were not deleted, but they were not on the splash screen or the office. I had find them all and put them back where they should be. I turned off my computer, and today, I realized that, once started, Windows tried to prepare again. The same thing happened. It's dissappeared. I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

    I run Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit on HP dv7, 1070ee.

    Thank you

    Thanks for your quick response

I ran the tests on the main hard drive and memory, both managed 100%. Fortunately!

I created another account administrator and then disconnected (e) of the original account that I was already connected. I realized that the infamous 'prepare Windows' does not appear during the loading of the new account. It's a good sign. So I removed the first account I had. Kept records of course! Made some changes to the appearance of the windows. Restarted. everything was in place.

So, I guess that the problem was with the first account I was using. I don't know that is it right. Now, everything's fine.

    Thanks for the help

  • Preparation for the upgrade of Windows 2008 server to a more recent version of IIS

I am preparing a server from IIS 7 to IIS 8.5 upgrade and installation of Wordpress.

Based on my past experience with Windows, I just want answers before you begin the process of upgrading to these questions.

After the upgrade to IIS 7 to 8.5 IIS erases from my old site, and IIS instantly crashes whenever I try to restart it via the services or by doing an iisreset in the terminal, how do IIS running again so I can recharge my virtual directories?

After I installed Wordpress and IIS starts crashing again, how can I me IIS regularly rerun?

When I get to the point where I have two Web sites running on the same server (which the Windows server documentation is both 7.0 and 8.5 are capable of handling), but it turns out that I can't get a site to run at the same time without the server crash, how do I turn to the second Web site so I can follow the two sites up and running?

  • 10/preparation for the upgrade Windows Update

Nice day. I have a problem. Almost midnight yesterday, I started to download the Windows 10 setting of Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade and almost finished 8oc' lock the morning followed by step "install". But I am surprised because after that and so far it has a window that displays "Upgrade ready" with a "Please wait" below written and the horizontal bar 'green' indication keeps 'ON' active... Why is having a continuous indication for 6 hours now when, in fact, the download and installation is already? How many hours upgrade do I need to wait longer, like this scene? Is there something wrong during the upgrade? I'm afraid that my files will be in disarray / lost because of this change.

Now stop this stage so that my electricity bill high? What is my next step to make this Windows 10 in the normal operating system to perform well. If there is nothing wrong with this new conversion upgrade, I can go back to the Windows 7 operating system?

    For your information. Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Reuben

    Working on it

Right-click on the icon Get Windows 10 in the Notification area

    Click go to Windows Update.

    Click Start.

    ----------------------------

If it does not upgrade to Windows 10, click Show all updates available, then see Upgrading to Windows 10 (Home or Pro), click OK, and then click Start.

    ----------------------------

If the upgrade is not available, wait a few days and try again. Once you click Start, the installation will begin. You will need administrator permission to continue. The installation should take about an hour (according to the FAQ). Once installation is complete, Windows 10 should install successfully.

My OS is Windows 7 Home and I want to upgrade to Windows 10. However, as I update all necessary upgrades by using Windows update, Internet Explorer fails. Some say that I have the IE11 to solve this problem. The problem is that when I try to download the updates, Windows 10 is download only. The rest No. I pressed as the GET has started to button, simply download windows 10 and then fails to install (maybe because I don't have the windows application 10 get in my notif bar). • Preparation of the upgrade of the operating system

I'm about to spend DV4-1028us my wife from Vista to Windows 7. I would have preferred a upgrade to a clean install so I would'nt have to re - install all the app given the number of applications installed and uninstalled during the years, there is probably plenty of leftovers "junk" on the disk, so I thought of running a recovery of the D: partition to get a Vista installation cleaning before moving to Win 7.  Would it be worth the effort, or should I just go ahead and install Win 7 without the recovery?

I wouldn't take any of the updates. Just run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and it will tell you everything that need to be updated or uninstalled before upgrading to Win 7.

  • Pavilion d4495.se - has: failed to upgrade of Windows 8 to 8.1

I have to prepare Windows 10, first upgrade Windows 8 to 8.1. The message I get is that it is not possible to upgrade the processor does not support the CompareExchange128. It's 2.2 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual core processor. Is there a fix or update available?

    Greetings,

Problems upgrading to win 8 to 8.1 Win with an Athlon 64 probably means that you will not be able to upgrade to Win 10.

See this article from 2013 to Neowin. It seems that you can install Win 8.1 32bits.

Anybody's guess if you can spend to Win 10 from there?

I wouldn't go there. Probably a great loss of time and effort.

Network adapters: Microsoft Windows Mobile remote adapter causes the Windows 7 upgrade to fail.

I did everything to prepare for the upgrade. The Upgrade Advisor says it all right. But I get the message that this network adapter is a problem. It does not appear in device menager even under hidden objects, so I can't uninstall or update.

It is obviously a problem for more than two years. Why is there not a difficulty now, or at least a well validated response that meets this situation rather than simply repeat the statement to execute the Advisor (done) or update the driver (which is impossible because the card network can not be found)?

    Hello

    You can try these:

    Step 1:

    a. click the Start button.

    (b) in the search box type devmgmt.msc and then press ENTER.

    c. find under the "Mobile Devices" "Microsoft USB Sync" node. If this is not present, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, right click "Microsoft USB Sync" and choose "Uninstall".

When you connect your USB phone, it should appear in the device under Mobile Device Manager. Education invites you to look out there and if you find Microsoft USB Sync, uninstall it. If she is not there, go to the next step.

    Step 2:

Disconnect, and then reconnect your device. Your device driver will be re - install and launch Windows Mobile Device Center.

  • Prepare your system for Windows 8

We are two weeks of the release of Windows 8 (26 October), so it is important that if you plan to upgrade to Windows 8 your system is prepared and ready to be upgraded. This is good information that will be useful in the preparation of this upgrade.

    Check your system for compatibility

The system requirements for Windows 8 is listed below. If your computer does not meet the specifications, then you must upgrade the equipment before reviewing the upgrade still comes into play

    • Processor: 1 GHz processor or faster
    • RAM: 1 GB (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
    • Disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
    • Graphics card: DirectX 9 compatible video card with WDDM driver

There is a new store of Windows and to use it is a requirement of at least 1024x768pixels screen resolution.

If you want to align the apps then you have even more to high a minimum resolution of 1366x768pixels.

You can check hardware and software compatibility directly from Microsofts Compatibility Center.

    Compatibility for Windows 8 Center

    Gather your hardware drivers

As the launch date nears manufacturers will begin to prepare their pilots to be available for download. Make sure that the drivers are available for your hardware components before making the crossing to Windows 8. Remember that you can find all the drivers HP directly on the site of HP.

    Find software and drivers HP

    Clean your computer

Do your update as smooth as easy. Do all your normal computer maitenance before the upgrade to make the upgrade to go a little smoother. Don't forget that all additional unnecessary files on the system is a file more that the system needs to read. Clean this system as much as possible before hand.

    Computer maintenance and its importance

    Back up your personal files

Do not take risks, you're not ready to take. All personal folders must be backed up. Or on CD, DVD, USB drives, hard drives regardless of the thumb. Most HP computers are equipped with backup HP software. If you do not have this software or don't like it, you should get some sort of backup method to ensure that the data is saved.

    HP Backup and Recovery Manager

Get the keys to your software and license

Everyone has a software which they 'need' or that you must have installed on their computer. It is important to know what software you have and want to keep and if you need a license key for this what is the key. An upgrade to Windows 7 should be painless, but you never know what can go wrong.

There are programs available that help to capture this information in Belarc Advisor is one of these programs.

    Remove or turn off programs

There are programs and software than the State they can be installed only on a limited number of machines or a machine at a time. It is important to know what programs and disable and remove approval of these programs before hand. Once you do the new installation, you can then reactivate the program and continue to use normally.

    Know your password wireless

WiFi passwords are the worst! You put the password once and then never have to worry about this again. Make sure that if you're going to make a wireless connection to level you know your WiFi password. Alternatively, make sure you have this long ethernet cable ready to go if things go south.

    Have pending recovery disks

If you start the upgrade and it goes wrong, make sure that you have a point of return. Have your HP discs made and ready to go recovery is essential before the upgrade. It's the biggest 'if' of the upgrade. IF all goes well, then it was a waste of 20 minutes it took you to do. IF everything goes wrong, then it's a life saver. Only you know if your willingness to take this risk.

    Create a Microsoft account

If you plan to use the Windows store app purchases or you plan to use Skydrive to store things in the cloud, you need a Microsoft account. Make sure that you know the information and credentials if you can connect and be ready to go.

  • Whenever I connect to my PC Pro Windows 8.1, it says prepare office and all files/user settings disappeared

I restarted my computer this morning and when I connected my domain user, he said that it is "Prepare Windows". When it is started on the desktop, I noticed that all my customizations and documents had disappeared. Then, I added a document on the desktop and restarted the computer. After the reboot, I entered my password of domain (the domain user has been selected by default) and again he said "prepare Windows. I have then to reset the pc by using the update to your PC, remove and reinstall windows. After this process, I reinstalled all the drivers and add the computer to the domain and installed Office. I added Outlook, RUN and a shortened my documents in the start bar and a text file on the desktop. After reboot and the connection with the domain user, once more, he says "prepare Windows. Once more all customizations are missing and the office text file is missing. Navigating to the folder C:\users, the domain user account does not exist (even if I change the folder option see hidden and system files).

The only user that persists after a reboot is the local user (machinename/user). Even if the user account for the domain is registered to the title of the user accounts, there is no data (c:\users) for this user.

    Some information:

The two drives of the computer are healthy. Windows updates are performed on a daily basis. AV (Kaspersky Internet Security 2014) is updated on a daily basis. All the drivers for the hardware are up-to-date.

Creating a new local user work too and I can restart and pass between local users, but I can't create a user in domain evidence of reboot.
