I have 1 computer and I'm the only user - why are multiple users?

Hello

I don't know much about computers and terminology.  BIG PROBLEM.  I'm the only person on my computer, I'm not on any kind of 'network' or 'homegroup '... I constantly have problems that lead me to believe that someone has hacked my computer.  I honestly don't know how anyone could do this, but I have a few very strange settings, and I can't change!

Under group or user names there are 4 names.  That's what I don't understand.  Should not be a single because I'm (or should be) the only person who has access to my computer?

There are very suspicious files, folders and stuff on my computer and I have noticed in My Documents folder, there are a lot of files known as JScript Script file (js).   I have hundreds (or thousands) of strange files and folders I can't open or delete!  I can't believe that this is normal!  I have Norton and scans lift you own.

I am extremely concerned because there is no one in my life, 'A', who has been personally harassing and stalking me for over a year.  I have received and continue to receive hundreds of pornographic and annoying emails (sent in an anonymous way), I am constantly being registered for most pornographic sites, and the list goes on and.  She has even copied pictures of me to my websites legitimate and used for its own purposes - essentially to embarrass me.

This is driving me CRAZY!  And Yes, this person has always been incredibly hateful and full of a strange kind of "vengeance."  The police are without help.  The district attorney has been without help.

My basic question is - am I paranoid, or is my computer to access remotely?

I'd appreciate any help, comments, opinions, and others.  Thanks in advance.

Here's how you can run a robust show:

  • Guest account . Keep him inactive.
  • Account named 'Administrator' : keep it inactive. It is too easy for hackers to guess.
  • Your own account : keep active and use a non-empty password. Some people recommend that there not administrator privileges. Mine is but then I practice "Safe Hex" (see below).
  • Save the account : every day I deal with messages from people whose password no longer works for some reason any. They are locked permanently from their computer. Have a backup with privileges to administrator account, it's a very easy way to work around this problem, as long as you keep a paper of the account folder.

About your computer after having been hacked: it's impossible for me to say. You must have machine examined by an expert. If you have reason to believe that it has been hacked, then you must format the disk and reload Windows from scratch. The following measures would make it virtually impossible for a hacker to access your machine:

  • Use a hardware firewall to your Internet connection, such as a router.
  • Keep your Windows Firewall active at all times.
  • Keep your scanner active virus and up to date.
  • Be careful with attachments, especially those from strangers. They might be infected.
  • Even for drives flash you receive.
  • Be careful clicking on links on suspicious sites, especially those associated with pornographic, gambling and high pressure, selling content.
