  I stopped using Firefox as nothing I've done has corrected this problem.   1. Go to Firefox > Preferences > advanced > general
  2. Always check "use the cursor keys to navigate through the pages.

• External WD My Book 1 TB HDD has disappeared

  I've had this car for many years.  Use this external drive for Time Machine backups for some time.  Yesterday I received a message from Time Machine what no backup was done 10 days (ouch! more timely message, please!), because the hard drive could not be found.

  I read through a number of posts about this, but most is old and did not fully address my question.

  What I tried:

  1. stop and started from scratch.

  2 checked preferences to ensure that 'show external drives' is checked - 2 places.

  3. open disk utility to check if it shows - not.

  4. search for 'My Book' system

  5. check the trash (to see if I ejected it).

  6 unplugged and reconnected all connections and power.

  7 attach another USB cable.

  8. no other Mac at home, so connected to a PC to see if it was acknowledged at least (he saw the car and I disconnected as soon as I could).

  9 prayed - maybe I should have done this first!

  Any advice on where to go or what else to try?  Thank you!

  Well, I think I solved the problem - at least for the moment. Wish I could remember where I found these tips, but I have done many research and checked a number of support forums. A great big thank YOU to those who suggested this.

  The notice was to unplug the computer and the external hard drive to the wall and "sleep on it" from one day to the next.  I did that last night and when I plugged everything back and re-started this morning, the hard drive was on the list of devices.  A fact a 'backup now' on Time Machine and it does not work, too.  Missing a lot of backups between the two, but I'm OK with that!

  The lesson I learned was to monitor more closely at the list of devices!

  Best solution for you is to order the original Toshiba recovery disc. This disc contains original recovery image designed for your laptop model. Recovery image is the operating system that includes all of the drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.
  After using this disk, you will have original as first boot settings after the purchase.

  OK it's a bit chilly but it is cheaper than the original disc of Microsoft and after recovery image installation will be installed and it is not necessary to install important drivers. Everything will be perfectly configured.

  I suggest, to be more certain check the disc on another system, that you know works. Use good cables and connect the drive correctly. If it is present in the BIOS, you good to go.

  The BIOS is the level the lowest recognition system, this is what you should check first.

  If it does not appear, you could just try and RMA the drive because it is very probably strongly affected by the power surge and can not work any longer.

  The OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) license is for the computer. If the computer is sold to another user, then the license is valid for the new user. The former user is no longer the owner of the license.

  You could try story ('Alt + S') > "Restore preivous session", then also of the story then 'restore Windows' > 'restore all windows.

  You get back them or re-create them, I would suggest that you save all in a folder of bookmarks for your restore them immediately and pin them each, or altogether if you have the extension «Multiple Tab Handler»

  Although I don't have a problem with them disappear when I run Firefox, they have always seemed like a potential problem over time. I use them, but I often start their from a folder Favorites so are 'clean' only one page by app - tab.

  It has been activated Windows without problem and just "authenticity windows 7" were not working. But I had the opportunity to download all the files to update windows without notifications.

  After 6 months of work, my child is delited some .dll files that I understood and also he deleted all the windows recovery points to sistem windows recovery.

  And when I tried to use toshiba HARD drive recovery, I was surprised.   First some facts for you. I hope that this will help you understand some important things.
  Computers notebooks are specific products of countries and every laptop on the Turkish market is actually for people who use Turk language. In other words, they will get operating system and keyboard for that language.

  Each book is available for some countries of preinstalled language and there is no way to activate a different language. If you live in Russia and use the Russian language you should get Windows7 on your language and install it on your laptop. All the necessary drivers tools and utilities can be downloaded from the Toshiba support page. Of course, to the clean OS install, you must pay for the license of Microsoft. The button down belongs to the original version (Turkish language).

  When you install the operating system using the recovery image of HARD drive you Turk language again and the problem is not solved for you. In my opinion you n t to use this image at all. You can't choose your Russian language and, in general, this recovery mage Turk is useless for you.

  My advice to you if you want to keep this notebook:
  -change the keyboard (Russian language) the nearest Toshiba service for help. they can order and exchange it for you
  -installation disk install Win7 using Microsoft original (Win7)
  -install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities from Toshiba download page the link is on this forum page (support Top sites)
