I have a Dell with Vista that no longer accepts updates due to a corrupt or missing CBS Manifest.

I try to repair it with the disc of the MFR., and it will not just for the same reason.  If I buy a upgrade of Windows7 drive, will I run into the same problem?  The system meets the upgrade limit otherwise.

If the Vista system has problems, it is probably best to do a custom install and replace all.

Try this method to solve the problems of maintenance due to corruption:

  • I have a computer with Windows Vista business on her key. I have a dell windows vista Enterprise drive. the product to activate my acer desktop computer?

HI I have a computer with windows vista business on that key. Apparently, I do not have the original OEM drive but I have a dell windows vista Enterprise drive. the product to activate my acer desktop computer?

    Hello

A manufacturer of recovery disc is designed for a particular brand and computer model; they are not interchangeable.

Here is the link to order the Acer recovery disks:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

And if the Acer never included a drive to purchase, you should have a recovery Partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista to how it was when new.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the process of recovery back to new condition.

    See you soon.

I have a XPS from Dell with Vista system.  When the computer enters standby mode, it continues to run and does not respond when you click the mouse or press a key on the keyboard.  I have to turn off the computer and then it takes about 20 minutes before it will start up.  He must analyze the disc and then says windows is not stopped correctly.  So sometimes, I have a blue screen that says that windows has automatically stopped because of an error.

My system is only about 3 weeks.  This just started happening.  I have not installed any new hardware.  Here is a meswsage error I get

Download and install the driver for Windows Vista

This problem was caused by a missing driver for Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft Corporation.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    Hope these helps.

I have a PC with Vista, I tried to install Windows XP, it was rejected, and now I don't have an operating system

    Bruce,

Do you remember if you wanted to do a new installation or had you partitioned your hard drive to install it in a dual boot with Vista?

If you do not have a BONE now it sounds lik evous was the first choice that clears your current installation.

You need to reinstall Vista from your original media to recover your system if this is the case.

Unfortunately, if this is what you choose, you have lost all the data that was on your hard drive as well.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad new possible.

I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed.  My plan is to install Win 7 and then move on to Win 10.  I have a new full version of Windows 7 Pro SP1 with an activation key.  I have experience update to Win 10 of Win 7, but worry about the installation of Win 7 over Vista.  I guess I have to do a clean install.  There is no problem to meet the minimum requirements of 10.  Can someone give me some advice on the start-up of the conversion of Win 7?  Just insert the disk?  Everything has been backed up and it's ready to go!  Thank you.

Since the family migration to Windows Vista Premium to Windows 7 Professional it will install a clean place, why not simply use your Windows 7 Professional product key to perform a custom Windows 10 Pro install from the go?

I don't see the need to bother installing Windows 7 Professional.

I used my iMac as a hard drive backup to my macbook once. Now when I update to El Capitan he says that it cannot be updated due to being of a backup. How do I change the drive mode so I can update?

If you use your iMac as a backup to disk using Time Machine look for a folder called Backups.backupdb.

It's what keeps you upgraded your operating system, you must remove it.

Copy everything first if you are on a different drive. It would be wise to create a backup of the iMac on another drive also.

Check system preferences > Time Machine and make sure that the iMac is not selected as the Time Machine drive.

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

  • Reference Dell with Vista/64 won't go to sleep by himself.

I have a 3-year-old Dell running Vista 64 desktop computer.  I've only used the sleep (or hibernation... can't tell them apart) mode manually, using the keyboard command: [Fn] + F2 on this old HP keyboard.  It works fine, the machine goes to sleep, to be awakened by the mouse or any key, asking for a password for the connection.  Large.  But I set Power Options to get the machine going to sleep if she has been preserved for an hour, and he won't.  The screensaver comes on after 5 minutes as it should; the monitor turns off after 20 minutes, what is right, but the computer won't go to sleep.  What I'm missing here?  Thank you very much.

UPDATE: the problem has been resolved.  The first reference cited by Robert gives two options: a manual change to the computer (registry?) via start/run and typed in command in the folder C: / / command prompt, or a downloadable "fix" to the millisecond.  I had tried the manual, but then returned and did the download.  The downloadable patch is obviously more than one manual, and it solved the problem.
