  The engine number of images is purely the choice of the user. I do an image after a clean installed with all updates & my installed programs. I do sometimes still 5-6 months later if I did several changes in apps, etc, but not a necessity. Most important for me is to have the first image of my machine freshly set up. I can always return to this configuration in less than an hour.

  A person who installs / uninstalls many software may prefer to make several images as. You can save as many images you have the disk space or DVD for. I use USB external hard drive to back up my images which is faster to burn to DVD.
