  Thanks David... it seems that my problem might with Windows8 not having the ability to update itself... after I finally solved the problems of Windows8 update... then I was able to access and download the standard Adobe XI... I was using IE 10... and tried to download it from "my account history".

  You will have to start all over again if you want to install XP.

  Since vista and win 7 are later versions. You will need to reformat / make 3 partitions, install XP, Vista and Win 7. Or if you have Win 7 Pro or Ultimate use XP mode

  You will need to get both if you want to reinstall Windows on your computer.  The key is in your Windows system, if it can be started and run, by using a utility such as Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder.  With respect to the disk, your computer manufacturer may be able to provide one for you.
