  • Failed to load printer - clicking Add indicates a Printer Spooler Service does not.

Upgrade Windows XP to SP3 last night.  Now all in printers and faxes has disappeared.  Click on add a printer indicates the Spooler Service does not.   Went in and forced a start; Add the said printer still does not.

Deleted old printer drivers (Lexmark).  Downloaded updated.  Execution of Lexmark is set up; said the spooler does not (yet), tries to start.  Then, the installation fails saying "No. valid Ports for the driver.

Often, but not always, the symptoms you describe are caused by a corrupt print job stuck in the queue or a damaged printer driver.  However before you clean things up, on general principles, that you can download, install, update and run full scans with each of these two free programs:

    AntiMailware MalwareBytes
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not operate the two scans simultaneously.  Each will take a long time, so start it and then go do something else for a while.

I think that your problem is related to the way that Lexmark install printers, as explained in this excerpt from the article linked in step B below (step numbers refer to article in full):

If you have a Lexmark printer, these additional steps may be necessary (thanks to Robert Orleth [MSFT] to provide this information).  Sometimes, the Lexmark printer installation process installs a service that makes dependent Print Spooler service itself.  If there is a problem with service Lexmark or a Lexmark printer driver (or you have removed using the procedure above), Print Spooler service does not start (see also http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324757).  The steps below make Print Spooler service only on service (RPCSS) remote procedure (RPC) call, which is normal.  Print Spooler service dependencies are stored in the registry at

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler\DependOnService

The sc config step 16 command resets the value for this entry.

    1. Open a command prompt window

    2. the control key
sc config spooler depend = RPCSS

(Note the space after the = not before)

    3. Restart print spooler (see steps 8 and 9 above)

    Cleaning of printers

NOTE: If after completing step has the print spooler is not always running after you launched the command "net start spooler", you will not be able to follow all the steps in "First Article".  Instead, go to the other link and download and get and use the utility 'cleanspl' such as described here.

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

    B. clean the old printer drivers and install the latest drivers by using the directions in One Article.  If you have (or had) a Lexmark printer, follow the instructions on the following site before installing the new drivers, as explained in its first Article: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

  • LaserJet 1022n printer (spooler Services) question

Whenever I try to print, I get an error message that the spooler sirvice does not work. I use the troubleshooting to fix the spooler, but he won't stay fixed. My print screen won't let me choose the printer, it's a LaserJet 1022n.

Can you please try the following:

    (1) Press Win + r (run the window will open)

    (2) type "services.msc" and press ENTER.

    (3) in the window that opens, locate the "Print spooler" service

    (4) make a right click on the "Print spooler" service and select 'Start Service'.

If the spooler service was stopped, then this should help solve the problem.

My printer was printing not and does not seem to be installed any longer so I uninstalled the program. I am reinstal it and me "Spooler error message" I then went online to get info on how to take care of this error, but spent three days without result. Can anyone give me feedback on how to fix this error, so I can reinstall my printer?

    Hi dlbma.

To start the print spooler service

Click Start--->run---> type "Services.msc" without the quotes and click on 'OK'. And on the page that has ensued, scroll down to the "Print spooler" service. Right-click on it and select 'Properties'. Click the Start button in the "Service status" box and in the box "Startup type" , select ' automatic. . Click 'OK' and 'OK'.

    I hope this helps.

  • Print Spooler service keeps stopping

search forums/try solutions throughout the day, but still frustrated. I have upgraded from vista home premium to windows 7 Home premium. seemed to lose my main printer (canon mf4150) and when you try to reinstall, found my continuous stop print spooler service. I changed its automatic startup, as well as its dependencies, but it stops very quickly after I start it (its dependencies are started). I don't know even how to check that drivers etc are installed more, because I can't shoot to the top of the list of printers without this service. Help?

I was hoping just to see.  I don't really want to import the key into my system.

At this stage because the spooler starts not and you have already exported your key drivers.  I start by exporting the Print all button and then remove the print drivers and print processors under the key environmental.  Just the driver not any key.

Then start the spooler.  Open devices and printers, this will initialize the spooler, rather than having to wait 30 to 60 seconds, if no printing information is requested.

    Click on add a printer

If the wizard starts the spooler is running.  If you get the error spooler does not work, then it's time to remove some entries from registry of the monitor.  Alan Morris Windows printing team; Here Microsoft Knowledge Base search: http://support.microsoft.com/search/Default.aspx?adv=1

    Hello

    ·        Have you tried the steps that are listed in the article manually and see if the problem is resolved?

    ·        Who is the manufacturer of the printer and what is the model?

    ·        When did you get the error message when you try to install the printer or when you try to print?

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to check if the Printer Spooler service is started.

    a. Click Start and click Run.

    b. type services.msc in the box run.

    c. find the print spooler service and right click on it.

    d. click Properties and verify that the startup type is set to automatic.

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

To start in safe mode, follow the steps mentioned below.

    a. restart and keep tapping F8 until you reach the start menu.

    b. Select safe mode and press ENTER.

    Step 2:

In safe mode, delete the printer and spool driver files. To do so, start Microsoft Windows Explorer, and then delete all files and folders in the following two folders (where C: is the drive where you installed Windows XP):

    C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers

    C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86

    Hi Marius,.

As you mentioned that you are unable to find the folder of spool, check if spoolsv.exe is present under C:\Windows\System32.

Follow these tips and check if that helps.

Method 1: Run the built-in printer Troubleshooter and check if that helps.
    Open utility troubleshooting printer

Method 2: I suggest you refer to the suggestion of Gokul T responded on November 6, 2009, for a similar problem.

You can also consult about it and see the advice given by Freak05, Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

  • Printers are lost after installing updates and could not start get error 1053 service print spooler service message has failed to demand launch or control in a timely

Original title: print spooler does not - error 1053 - Windows 7

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-511 with Windows 7.  2 weeks ago I ran a Windows Update and all my printers installed have disappeared after a reboot.  I did a system restore and they were all back.  Yesterday, I installed an update to a software (Soonr) and it's the same thing.  I clicked on the print spooler service to see if I was able to restart and got the error 1053 saying "service did not respond to demand launch or control in a timely." If I click on "Add a printer" in the menu devices and printers, I get the following message: "Windows can't open add printer."  The local print spooler service is not running.  Please restart the spooler or restart the machine. "I rebooted the computer and the same thing continues to happen.  I did a system restore and the printers are all back.  It seems that every time there is a change to any software, it creates this problem.  Help, please! Thank you.

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

When the updates are installed, the printers will be lost and when you try to start the print spooler service, you get the service saying error 1053 has failed to demand launch or timely control.

The problem may occur if some system files are corrupted or because of malicious content.

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: File system (CFS) Scan Checker

SFC scan will find all missing or incorrect system files and repairs them.

    See the site:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Method 2: Scan the computer to remove all possible malicious content

    See the site:

    Microsoft safety scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx .

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

I hope this helps. If the problem persists, let know us and we would be happy to help you.

  • Print Spooler service is not running, or active directory domain services is currently unavailable.

Original title: my printers on WIndows 7 seemed to have disappeared...

Printers are not listed for printing set up in Word, Notepad, Adobe, etc., when I try to add a printer, he said the local print spooler service is not running, or domain services active directory is currently unavailable.  Printers are shown on the list of devices, and when I run the troubleshooting it says that the print spooler problem is solved.  but I still can't print.  The question is on a laptop Samsung bought in store Microsoft to OakBrook, Illinois.

It started on 8 July and I was not able to resolve since.  In reviewing the restore points, I don't see any problems, and printers are recorded in the other PC, I plugged in.

    Thanks for your help.

    Imran,

Thank you very much for the reply onse.  I appreciate it.  I tried your suggestions and everything in the fix he said that the print spooler has been repaired, it would not print.  I ran the scanner and came without any problem.

I did a restore of the system to a point prior to the issuance and the printers are busy, apparently something in an update has a problem.  I'll look next week and see what happens.

Thanks again for your reply and your suggestions, I appreciate it.

  • How can I activate the print spooler service on

My computer says the print spooler service stops when I'm going to use a printer. How do I reactivate.

    Hello
Please tell us the version of the Windows operating system you are running on your computer.

I'd take a peek at this thread as well. It is specific to Windows 7, but you should be able to many of the same steps apply to Windows Vista or Windows XP if you happen to have one of the people.
