  The print spooler service is stopped and the printers and Faxes screen is empty, you cannot add a printer and (usually), you cannot print either.  It happened just before this problem occurred?

  Start the print spooler and make sure that it is configured to start automatically:

  Start > run > services.msc > OK

  When the Services window opens, scroll down to the print spooler.  Double click on it.  Make sure that the "Startup Type" is "automatic".  Click on the button 'start '.  OK, go out of your way and close the Services window.

• I have to keep repairing my printer spooler service whenever I start

  I have a XP Home system and a Brother DCP-130 c printer. I closed all night and the next day when I need to print, I told myself I need to intall printer and that the Printer Spooler service is not operated.   As you mentioned that you are unable to find the folder of spool, check if spoolsv.exe is present under C:\Windows\System32.

  Follow these tips and check if that helps.
