I have Vista 32 bit and would switch to the 64-bit... possible?

I would rather buy a brand new operating system so I would like to upgrade to 64 - bit, because the MOBO, I put in is capable of up to 16 MB of RAM.  But recommend them not more than 3 GB for a 32 bit OS.  Can I upgrade my OS without much hassle or $$$.  Thanks in advance KM

Hello

There is no way to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit.

You need a full 64-bit license and you must do a clean install.

And Microsoft sells more Vista; they are now selling Windows 7, which will soon be replaced by Windows 8.

See you soon.

EDIT: Here is the Windows 7 information.

Before purchasing Windows 7, follow these steps:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:
