I install Windows XP on a new hardrive unformatted. The installation proceeds without difficulty until I got the message NTLDR is missing and the installation would not be continued. How to install file or fix the problem?

Hello

Is the hard drive has any operating system installed?

You can visit this link and check:

The hard drive on my HP desktop computer failed and died.  I don't have a recovery disk.  Can I reinstall windows XP on a new drive as Windows XP product key is located on the cover of PC.  If so, how?  Any suggestion please!

With the procuct only key?  No, you cannot, the product key is just a combination of 25 alphanumeric characters, where the installation files will come from?   You will need to contact HP for a recovery disc.

If your copy of Windows is preinstalled on a computer, it's an OEM copy - and the license CANNOT be transferred to another computer.

Nobody don't keep records of this license has been actviated by which - above all, Microsoft. Data for registration and Activation are stored on separate servers and correlate precisely for this reason.

Each license of the retail XP DO can be installed that on one machine at a time - the OEM licenses are not transferable between machines.

  • We bought paper license for Windows 7 Professional for a laptop... the laptop has now stopped working. Can I re install Windows 7 in a new laptop using the previous button?

    Operating system - Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Type of license - license paper

If previous key provided with the laptop dead, no, you cannot transfer to a new laptop. OEM licenses are not transferable:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

    Hello

No there is no way, how the do, because the license of Windows Vista is part of the computer compaq laptop - this is the license OEM - and cannot be separated.

(in case the laptop is broken and cannot be repaired, then the license expiresand cannot be used on another computer)

  • Install Windows 7 on a new 3 TB hard drive

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a new 3 TB hard drive.  During the installation, I get a screen that says no hard drives have been found.  Windows installs the boot files on the X startup disk but nothing else.  The motherboard is an Intel DZ68BC and the Bios is set to boot from the UEFI.  All of the suggestions.

    Hello Keith,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem can occur if the storage controller and chipset drivers are not updated or due to incorrect BIOS settings.

I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.

  • Old computer is dead, HARD drive still alive. Can I install windows 7 on your new computer without formatting the old HARD drive?

My old desktop computer recently died of a motherboard failure.  As I understand it, I should be able to install windows 7 from my old computer to the new, but only if I delete the old installation.

Does this mean that I have to format the old HARD drive?  Because the old computer HARD drive seems to be alive, I would retrieve the data on a new machine first, before I have to format and I need to install windows on the new computer to get the data from the old HARD drive.

No, it is taken on trust that the old installation is no longer active, there is no mechanism to remove the old license in order to make a valid new. Remove the Windows directory (or rename) makes the old system inoperative.

You find that the automatic authentication fails on new construction and need to call the licensing Center to check that you have only one installation. Apart from the OEM rules if a license has been activated too often, and recently, it fails in a 1 time.

  • Is it better to install Windows 8 'clean' on new PC compared to the upgrade of Windows 7?

Is it better to install Windows 8 'clean' on new PC compared to the upgrade of Windows 7?

    1. I use, for many years, Windows XP and Office 2003.
    2. Now I'm going to buy a new desktop PC for home use
(Internet, WORD, OUTLOOK, store a lot of pictures).
    3. I have a dilemma, which OS is better Windows 7 or Windows 8
as I see many problems in Windows 8, and it seems that the SW is immature.
    4. My first question is: what is your suggestion?

    5. in case I choose Windows 8, MS will support not me, technically, by phone,
If the SW is integrated in the PC (from a 'Mark' PC manufacturer)!

6 but if I install, first of all, windows 7 (legally) and subsequently UPGRADE to Windows 8.

    MS will support me.

    7. my second question is: put a time and money aside, concerns

the PC will be much less 'HEALTHY' after installing 2 operating systems

so if only Windows 8 will be installed on an SSD again, put in shape

(just for C = system drive, the data will be on a hard TB 3 second, mechanical

    By car)?

    Thank you very much

If you have Windows XP, Windows 8 might be bit overwhelming, though, you can familiarise yourself with it. Personally, I'd go with Windows 7 If you can get it.

    5. in case I choose Windows 8, MS will support not me, technically, by phone,

That's right, you will get support from the manufacturer, because its their equipment. In addition, you can get support here in the forums.

Yes, you will have 90 days of free technical support through Microsoft.

Well, if you make these facilities consecutively, there should be no decrease in performance.
