I just transferred my favorites of one copy of Firefox to another and all of my tags disappeared?

Using Mac OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 16.0.2. I just transferred a bookmarks.html file exported my current installation to a new copy of Firefox 22 on a new computer running OS 10.6.8. Imported bookmarks file into the new FF, moved this import of the 'imported' to the 'Menu' file and used the browser. However, when I went in to bookmark a page, I noticed all my tags and their associated bookmark links had disappeared! Quickly, I assumed that it was a 'tags' file in my original profile that I needed to copy, but I can't find one or all mention of one online. How to copy all my tags and their location of bookmark/url to my new installation?

When you use the "export" / "import", the tags are not included. Try to use the method of "backup" / "restore".

Backup Firefox bookmarks (.json file) format, contains detailed data on your bookmarks.

In the other to restore a backup Favorites file, you must copy it from your old computer to the new. You can either use the last automatic backup file, or it might be better to create a new one in a place that is easy to access rather than rummage through your application settings.

Try the procedure described in this article: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Does it work?
