I know that many have had the problem with Windows 7 check disk at startup and having to press a key within ten seconds... solution as a guest... but

The command line does not work.  I am the administrator and it is automatically elevated command prompt.  I type CHKNTFS /X c:

I get an error message: "is not recognized as an internal or external command executable program or Batch file" won't play with my registry.  Any help please.

Thank you and all who responded.  It seems that the chk dsk is enacted by System Mechanic (which I think is an excellent program).   I learned, however, to run a command as administrator prompt.  I always started it with the command run and not as a typed command.

In the thread above, I was following the post on 30 August.  According to Option A, I completed step 5 for the uninstallation of McAfee Security.  At this time, my network card has stopped working.  On the recommendation of the officer, I posted to the Malwarebytes forum.  The officer determined Malwarebytes that I don't have a malicious software.  I ended up posting on forum McAfee to get my network card works again.  Then I reinstalled McAfee and start to run Windows Update.

I started with Option A, step 8 to reset Internet Explorer using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737.  The difficulty it has worked very well.

Then Option A, step 9 says reset Windows Update using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  When I ran the difficulty in default or aggressive mode, I got an error message saying: he cannot start wuauserv.  The message asks me to verify that the user has privileges to take this step.  Well, I checked through user accounts who am the only one user set up on this PC and I have administrator privileges.  Help me please run this difficulty or recommend another way to get Windows Update works again.

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed and would like to change to Windows 7 32 bit.  How can I do this?

    Original title: Harold

Usually this is impossible on computers with Windows 7.  In almost all cases, you need to go to the store, buy Windows 7 32-bit and use the CD to install it on your computer.  This also requires the deletion of your system, you will need to reinstall all your programs and settings.

  • I had a problem with windows 7 so I have 2 Toshiba disk for recovery in vista 64.

I had a few problems with windows 7 on my Toshiba laptop. A recovery disc were sent and I have vista 64. Should I re install the winows upgrade installation package 7 provided with the laptop?

    Hello

If Toshiba provided your with an upgrade to Windows 7 for your machine, you would think that it is Compatible Windows 7,.

But that's the advice I give to posters to follow:

Follow these steps before installing Windows 7:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    "Windows 7 system requirements"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/system-requirements

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

    Windows 7 upgrade paths:

«Installation and reinstallation of Windows 7»

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

And as you have Vista 64 bit, upgrade, you will need to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit

    See you soon.

  • What is the problem with Windows Vista?

It's Windows Vista just bad or what!

Sorry for my title, but I have had serious problems lately and it has been really frustrating.  This all started when I got a game, Civilization V, to be exact, as a gift.  Now, I use a laptop that is not done for the games, but I am able to run games of different strategy on a low setting without problem.  When I installed Civilization V, however, it did not work, saying that I had to download Windows Vista Service Pack 2.

The reason why I didn't have SP2 was because I disabled the auto-update feature.  I did not want Microsoft to auto-updated my computer because it just add more files to my computer - right which may be unnecessary, i.e. IE and take hard drive space.  However, because I really wanted to play the game, I was like, so can download SP2.

This is when the problems started to arise.  First of all, somehow, I'm done with DirectX 11.  From my understanding, XP is associated with DirectX 9, Vista with DirectX 10 and Windows 7 with DirectX11.  I have Windows Vista, but I have DirectX 11 is installed.  How is that possible?  This in turn makes Civilization V quite unstable.

But, I'm not really upset to have the correct version of DirectX, because in all honesty, I have accidentally installed when I installed the game.

WHAT I'M REALLY UPSET is how SP2 has completely messed up my computer.  First of all, he did my laptop completely unstable.  My starting times vary.  Sometimes, I have a blue screen when I start my computer.  Also, it has substantially increased the amount of energy/process my uses of the computer.  While my laptop has a skinny 1 HR autonomy on SP1, it has now a little 15 min autonomy on SP2.

But perhaps what really upsets me is that since I installed SP2, I've lost half a gig of hard drive space whenever I restart my computer.  And since my computer has become unstable, I have to reboot more often then usual.  I got 10 GB of free hard disk space and now I only have 200 MB.  I tried 'disk cleanup', but now my computer has only 4 gigs.  Where's the other 6 GB?

And the worst, Vista is that research is absolutely useless.  Find recent files that have been created (since if I lose 500 MB every time you start, I need to create some sort of file), but my search comes up with no results.

I write because I need solutions to these three things:

    (1) how can I make SP2 uses less memory and processes?  I wish that my life of battery 1 h back instead of 15 min.

    (2) MOST IMPORTANT: How can I prevent my computer whenever I restart the loss of 500 MB of hard drive?

    (3) what are the means that would allow me to search my computer so that I can understand why I keep losing hard drive space?

I can't believe that Microsoft will come out with an "update" which downgrades your computer actually.  And I am sure that I do not have a virus, because I have not downloaded anything / visited all websites summary recently at 90%.

    Thank you.

Access your site from manufacturers of portable, specific to your model and update all the drivers available.

Then to winupdate parameters depend on important updates ONLY, by installing not important updates, you leave your computer at risk and bug fixes will not be implimented

  • Problems with \WINDOWS\AppPatch\drvmain.sdb at startup

So I start my laptop and get this message-WINDOWS-AppPatch------drvmain.sdb is missing or damaged.  After searcing for answers through google, I found others with the same trouble.  I tried chkdsk and I do not have my original supplied with the portable disks, but when asked which version to check I'm doing it, then it asks password admin, what I do, and then run the command chkdsk and it says that this is a problem.  Other that that, I can't do anything.  I appreciate any help anyone can give me.  IM on the wifes PC right now and I did connect the drive to the IDE/Sata-USB PC and can see and use everything very well, so I know it isn't a problem here.  ANY help is GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

You must run chkdsk on any volume (C, D) where is installed XP - where is the problem.

I had another idea - after that you run chkdsk r, restart to the F8 Advanced Boot Options, and select Safe Mode and see if things seem better.

The thing that you see sometimes with Norton (and this affliction 000218), is your file system is corrupt when Norton loads at startup.

You run chkdsk/r and then allowing you to start once more--long enough to uninstall Norton, using their special uninstall tools (but will not start you again until you run chkdsk /r again).   This thing of Norton began to show up to a few weeks on systems with older versions installed who got an automatic update.

When you start using safe, Norton does not load, so who can you get long enough to make progress.

I know that you have uninstalled Norton and maybe it's not the problem here, but I think it's what I would do.  You must run chkdsk/r much more probably until you understand.

A single case of the 000218 was resolved after you run the fixmbr command in the Recovery Console, but see what makes fashion safe for you first.

I'm signing for a while, then maybe AlbertMC2 can help more.

    What can I do else?

    Thank you

I had the same problem and then by chance, I tried a video on YouTube and it worked for me. Here's how I went on this issue and solved my problem:

    1. go to the computer, then OS (C).
    2. you will need to open Program Files (x 86) and Program Files.
    3. go to Windows Media Player in Program Files (x 86) and open the folder.  Then, remove the wmplayer file.  You may need to work around the error TrustedInstaller.  I'll tell you that, in a moment.
    4. in Program Files, go to the same folder for Windows Media Player and select the same file again. Wmplayer.  Copy the file in another window open.  Copy ensures that if the question comes up again you can at least try to fix it again.
This should be the end of your problem.  If you need to circumvent the TrustedInstaller question is how:
    1. right click on wmplayer and select Properties > Security > advanced > owner > Edit > other users and groups.
    2. Enter your username and then click on check names.  Click OK.
    3. close the dialog boxes as he has requested.
    4. open again the properties and click Security.  Select your username from the list and click on edit.  From there, select full control.
This should give you full control over the removal of the original file for WMP and easily allow you to copy the other files (x 86) programs.
Please let me know how it goes for your problem.
