  First of all, try to search for it...

• Lost e-mail account and subfolders in Windows Live Mail.

  I closed my laptop using the power button on a hurry last night, now I connected this morning my hotmail account to Windows Live Mail, Inbox, and sent Follders etc. were lost. Ridicule me. • Lost Live Mail account

  My wife uses Windows Vista and Live Mail.  Under the direction of a sky Help Desk - trying to get his work having been locked - email said to delete his account underTools/accounts.  She duly did.  Of course, on the creation of a reconfigured e-mail account, she had lost a lot of important emails.

  Question: Is there a way to the possibility of using this account, or even just the emails?  They will be backed up to a place or be recoverable in some way?

  Do you have Time Machine backup of your data before moving on to the Sierra?

  Are your POP or IMAP account? If the IMAP, simply remove the account and then add the account back. However, for messages "on my computer", you will need restore from Time Machine.

  Hi Tom,

  You should be able to try one of the two options:

  (1) If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can click on the start menu and search for the email client you use (if you search for the term "mail" should help, you will find the program)

  2.) you can also go to the following location c:\program files (or c:\program (x 86)) to search for the folder of the program that you were using.

  Once you have found the program, you should be able to copy a shortcut to the original location.

• How to recover lost e-mails (partial) after compressing files

  I use windows XP sps, three days ago, I made an oulook express process of compressiom files, after that a windows command prompt I was asked to do.

  Unfortunately, some of the emails (Jan. 2011 - August 2011) was found missing in outmail storage file, after the file compression. I think they were

  automatically removed during the compression of files. Although I found a backup (master) folder in the trash, I still can not return emails lost after running

  recovery in the trash. Can someone help me recover lost emails?

  For your information: until the compression of files - outmail storage folder size is approx. 1.2 GB / after compression: 827 MB

  OE does not compress.  It compact, which means that it removes the space in the file.  This should be done regularly, otherwise it will be too fat and become corrupted, what happened to you.

  See point 2 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 and you can try to manually import the file bak (just give it another name - see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm).  If this does not help, then my DBXpress program (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) may be able to recover lost messages.

  I tried to write my signature in this area on the screen, but it doesn't seem to work? : v lol

  The solution was that I did a REFRESH of Windows 8.  Agreed that I had to use a MS accout for MAIL, CALENDAR snd PEOPLE activated.  After the UPDATE, which removes all of your added applications, but saves your files and your information, I was able to use the present TILES on the Start Page of Metro

  It was a back door solution but at least it got me through all this. It is a solution of sorts!  Jack

• Lost my mail after the scan at startup

  After starting my computer vista the other day, Chkdsk ran at startup, I opened outlook express too find all my emails have disappeared. I checked my files outlook express .dbx to discover a new Inbox.dbx file was created.

  I assumed that the old box of Inbox.dbx has become corrupt and checked the temporary "c:\found.001" directory created by chkdsk, there were only two files in this directory not associated with outlook express.

  I tried to run two programs of recovery of files get data retrospectives and restaurateur xp but cannot find the missing inbox.dbx file.

  Do I have a chance to recover this .dbx file or is it gone?

  Search for inbox.bak or any file backup of Inbox.  If the emails are not there, the mails are gone.

  So in this case you can help can bypass the file system on a disk and extract messages directly from the hard drive, allowing the extraction of messages from deleted files, or of readers including the partition table has been damaged, or drives that have been formatted.
