  I'm not familiar with the Microsoft Dreamspark program, but install Windows 10 on a Virtual Machine on a host Windows 7 is pretty simple using VirtualBox, a free application.

We then implemented the taskbar with the tools that we use more. Some of them disappear and are replaced by a generic folder icon. When attempting to launch what it was, we are told that the item is missing and we want to remove the item from the task bar. This only happens with some icons, MS Office - ALL of them, and a few others we installed. This machine is new and has been used for anything except certain configuration and a bit of web browsing. I wasn't expecting to face something so important so early - as the first day! Anyone know what is happening? I saw the other, similar questions (but none where the program behind the icon is lost) and we can't do a system restore - definitely not yet!

  You can try rebuild icon cache. To do this, please follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, then computer.

  2. on the toolbar, click on organize, and select folder and search options.

  3. click on the tab display and mark to select the option of hidden files and folders, and then click ok.

  4. Enter the following directory:

  %UserProfile%\AppData\Local

  5. find the IconCache.db file and rename it to IconCache.db.old.

  6. close the window and restart the computer.
