I am trying to enter in the appdata folder to retrieve a trial that I lost and someone suggested looking here. How to do this.

One way:

Start-> Run-> Explorer %APPDATA%\protector.exe

Where you type '%AppData% explorer' in the box before hitting 'OK '.  (Omit the quotes)

  • Where is the location of the file Outlook.pst in Windows 7, the AppData folder does not appear in the user specific folder?

original title: where is the location of the Outlook.pst file in Windows 7?

I want to copy my Outlook.pst to my desktop (Windows XP Pro) data to my laptop.  Outlook displays the outlook.pst file which will be located in the "C:\Users\Specific User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" folder on my laptop.  However, when I try to access this folder in Windows Explorer, the AppData folder does not appear in the user specific folder.  I find in my office because Windows XP does not hide it, but he must hide in the Windows 7 operating system on my laptop.  How can I get it so that I can copy the file outlook.pst from my desktop to my laptop?  If the file is hidden, is there an easier way to copy outlook data from one computer to another?

To see AppData, enable the display of hidden files and folders in the Control Panel > Folder Options > view .

  • I can't delete the post of WinRar on my files that were downloaded and now I can't get anything to open

    original title: open my files

I can't delete the post of WinRar on my files that were downloaded and now I can't get anything to open

Please describe your problem in more detail. Tell us that that "cannot delete" means. Exactly how do you try? What happens when you try? If you get an error message, please quote verbatim.

Or do you mean 'change' expansion, rather than "delete." Have you tried?

And one last point: If the files have the rar extension, what are rar files. The file format does not remove or change the extension.  If you remove or change the extension, they will always be rar files. A rar file can only be successfully opened by Winrar or a compatible program.

  • I am trying to transfer an old profile in Windows 7, but the AppData folder does not appear under my name in the USERS folder. How can I find it?

When I go to the troubleshooting help and click Open containing folder I get a window of Windows Explorer that displays the path used (s) - Edward-AppData, etc.. But when I click on the small triangle to the right of the King Édouard the menu drop-down does not include AppData, and if I just go in Windows Explorer and the Edward users, there is no AppData folder. So I can't overwrite the profile file with saved my laptop earlier profile information. Case beside Edward symbol has a lock on it, but I don't know what that means or how to unlock.

%AppData%\microsoft\windows\sendto is the name of an environment variable.
    On XP, this variable points to C:\Documents and Settings\ < user > \Application Data\

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden files, use %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto in the file name field

  • How can I know which files or documents I can safely remove in the appdata folder

My appdata folder contains many files that are empty. I can remove them safely?

    Hi dem1uth,

Welcome to Microsoft windows vista forums!

APPDATA: Stores the path to the folder that contains the user-specific files that install applications. For example, Microsoft Word may install a custom dictionary to the location specified by the value of this entry. You can enter any valid Universal Naming Convention (UNC) or mapped drive name in the value of this entry.

Is it not recommended to remove the content from APPDATA, because it contains information of the applications.

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use disk cleanup. It removes temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of file system and other items that you no longer need.

Please see the link to perform a disk cleanup

  • What is WER? I see the AppData folder.

What is WER, which is a record in tha AppData folder, located in the windows folder, which has some kind of reports. What is the pupose of this folder / application. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi Caroline

    WER = Windows Error Rinputs.

This is the error report files are generated when a program crashes, unresponsive, or has other problems.

If you open the C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive folder, you will see all the individual files. These files are code gross and non-human readable.

You can view these errors in two ways.

    1. open the Control Panel/Center of the Action. Click the down arrow in the " maintenance " section and click on the item in the history of reliability .

If you see Red icons in this graph, click the icon and look in the section at the bottom for the description of the error.

Note: If you see a link to seek a solution in the background details window, click on this link for any update known solutions.

2 open the Control Panel in the Search box (top-right), type: problem reports. In the center of the Action, select the view all problem reports item.

This will give you another way to view these reports.

When you experience a power outage and you see a window that asks you if you want to report this accident to Microsoft, these generated files contain the data that is sent.

    I hope this helps.

  • What is the AppData folder in the user folder?

    Thank you

The Roaming folder is used for the data is copied from/to a server when the user logs on power in a domain environment. This allows the user to access their data from any computer in the domain.

Folders are used to them for data specific to a particular computer. LocalLow is used by programs that run with a low integrity, such as Internet Explorer in protected mode. This is a security feature that prevents the file system is accessible from the Internet.

  • I get an error message "an error has occurred while trying to write to the CONFIG folder. MSI"by updating to adobe reader.

I have a folder named CONFIG. MSI shows as locked in 'share with '.  I can't seem to change the configuration, that is, to unlock the file.  In addition, 'Properties' shows 22 files in the folder but only 2 files display in Windows Explorer.  When I try to update Adobe Reader, I get an error message that an error occurred during the attempt to write to the CONFIG folder. MSI.  I am the administrator on this PC.  What can I do?

Original title: locked file, CONFIG. MSI

    Hi Paul Rumbaugh,.

    (1) this exactly happens when you try to access the folder?
    (2) what is the error message or error code ?
    (3) have you made changes on the computer?

    Method 1-

You should check if the problem persists in Safe Mode as well.
To connect in Safe Mode, you must follow the steps in the article-

Start the computer in Mode safe

Note: make sure you connect in Normal Mode after you perform the troubleshooting steps.

    Method 2-

Perform the steps in the article-

    Disable the anti-virus software

    Enable or disable Windows Firewall

Note: make sure that you turn on Windows Firewall and re- Activate the antivirus after performing all the troubleshooting steps given the computer can be at risk of infection by the virus.

  • I downloaded FF 8.0 for Mac. When I drag it to the applications folder, I get an error that says that I don't have permissions to install it. What should I do now?

How to change the permissions? I had the option I have to get the permissions window, but I don't see that I can change anything

If he has problems with the update or the permissions then simpler is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop disk image (dmg)

    • Trash the present application Firefox to do a clean (re-) install
    • Install the new version you downloaded

Your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re) install Firefox.

  • Deleting files in the AppData folder.

I uninstalled Google Earth because it causes problems and eat hard disk space cache files.   However, Google Earth and Google EarthPlugin files records still exist in a folder AppData/Local low/Google.  Files in these folders combined occupy more than 256 GB of hard drive space.  Can I simply delete these two shirts without causing problems for the rest of my Windows operating system?  The folder AppData/Local low/Google would stay in place.

  • Why the popup Thunderbird Windows open in mini that are unreadable and UN usable size (cannot be clicked)?

Firefox does not have any problems with the pop-up unlike Thunderbird. In Thunderbird, for example of the tools pop-up window or parameters opens in tiny size and is elusive, unreadable and unclickable. That of why it is, for example, cannot print all e-mail messages. Printing is no problem with Firefox.

How do I fix this problem?
