switch from vista to xp - Int failed: E:\i386\asms.
I'm trying to switch back to Windows XP, Vista. I had to send my laptop in for repair and they loaded Vista on it because that's what was on this subject during the purchase. I bought this from a company that had upgraded to XP, which I like much better. I got an error stating - Int failed: E:\i386\asms. He also tells me that I'm missing some files - xmlp-*-xdr. Don't know what that means. As I load the CD for XP he showed some files would not be responsible and gave me the the ability to jump, which I did because it would'nt I would try again. They finished with xmp. Anyone got the answers or help for me? I cannot get my laptop to start because of this and don't know what to do?
Thanks in advance!
DeeUnfortunately, it seems that you are using the Windows XP CD is corrupt and therefore unusable for installation. Please see: How to replace lost Microsoft software

My system is Windows 7 from a Dell Inspiron 3000 on a hard drive reformatted. My system does not as well allow me access to Windows Update. I need these updates from Microsoft!
Windows updates:
Follow these instructions exactly.
First set of Windows updates never verify updates.
Next, restart your computer, and then install KB3020369, if not installed.
Then, install KB3172605.Windows updates should return to normal. You can then put your updates to automatically check for updates if you wish

Any ideas what this could be? My laptop not start so I tried to reinstall XP Home Edition and received this message. I reinstalled the XP several times before. Recovery does not even recognize the drive and when I try to put it into safe mode of any type, it will stop and say he can't put in safe mode. It would not come with last good configuration file either. Installation went as far as formatting the disk, install some files and stops with this error during the installation phase. I tried a Linux USB image to see if I could get to practice but it is not even appear as a disk. I also tried a hard drive carrier to try to access with this laptop, but it would not recognize the drive and assign it a letter. When I tried to map a drive to it, it would be dismissed saying hard disk is not accessible. The tech Center says this could be because it is password protected.
Any idea on how to get to that hard drive that seems impenetrable? Or does have a virus package root?
Any help would be appreciated. You can send me an email to * address email is removed from the privacy *.Thank you

Cannot install Windows Vista SP2 due to error code 0 x 80070490
Original title: conclusion it is impossible to install the Vista SP2
Hello. I'm trying to update my parents with Vista SP2 computer, but it's a disaster. It is a 32-bit operating system. First of all, I tried to install it with windows live update but got the error code 0 x 80070490. Then I tried to download it manually from the Windows Download Center, but this has led to the same problem occurs. I then removed all virus protection programs and tried again, but it still doesn't work. I then downloaded the Windows Update Readiness Tool 947821 KB but when I try and install it it freezes for hours constantly and will not install. I think of anything else to do and I was wondering if anyone can help. Thank you
Hi CVinaccia,
Follow the steps described in the article below, dealing with a similar issue

I have a computer comes with a Vista disk to the Windows Welcome page and now have acquired another (employee) computer that has Windows XP, service pack 3 on it. Can I take the Windows Home Vista disc and put it in my computer that has Windows XP on it and use the disk to upgrade to Windows Vista Home page?
Simple answer - No.
If the Vista machine is preinstalled, the software is locked to this motherboard and cannot be moved or installed on any other machine.

instead of my PC, I can play my files on TV
Is - my BDP-780 is not DLNA compatible with Windows 8?
I strictly followed the instructions of Windows to configure my network...
Hello Nicolas,.
Welcome to the community of Sony.
The BDPS780 Blu - ray player is compatible for the streaming of files of Windows 8 computer via DLNA.
The DLNA function works by using the Windows 8 operating system, if the parameter is set to desktop mode. To work, select the setting in Office mode if you are using the new Windows User Interface (UI).
Make sure that the firewall on the router settings do not prevent the media server to the client machine.
Follow the steps mentioned on the underside of the base article of knowledge.
