    Hi Happyrockgeek,

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!

This problem occurs if the Windows security .dll files are incorrectly registered.

To resolve this problem, you can perform the two methods of troubleshooting, check if the problem is resolved.
    Method 1:
Run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool.
To do this, follow these steps:
    1. download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations. For more information about how to download and run the Checksur.exe tool, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/947821
    2. try to install the updates again.

    Methods 2.
    Reset the Windows Update components.
    1. to reset the Windows Update components automatically, click the fix button in the link below.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
    2. click run in the file download dialog box and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard.

I also suggest you to install the latest version of Windows Installer 4.5.

and you can also try to install after you turn off the firewall.

    It will be useful.

  • Difficulty getting the updates of Windows in April, fixed - now in trouble again with the month of may

I, like so many others, have problems with updates of Windows, as well as to download and install. My problems on my computer Windows 7 began in April 2016 during the "patch Tuesday". After having done everything I could think of, including communicate with Microsoft (which were absolutely no help!), I found a fix here - installation KB3145739. Since then, I was able to check the updates without problem - that is to say, until the most recent "patch Tuesday," which was this week may 10.

I had set my computer to "check for updates, but let me decide whether to download and install." Well, the computer doesn't seem to be looking up everything on Tuesday at all, so I checked manually for them, and as last month, the search seems to never end. After looking at some of the posts here, want to ask questions on exactly what to do. First, should I reinstall KB3145739? Also should I install or the other of the following - KB3153199 or KB3138612 - in addition to KB3145739 (fell on these two elsewhere on here as possible fixes)? Finally, should I change my settings to "never check updates" rather than as I have currently and always just manually check updates? Thanks for any help on this. I am so tired of MS causing problems with getting the updates (never had any problems until they start us pushing the 10).

(Just thought of another question - GWX control panel installation would be a good idea?)

Your most reliable way to identify the update is to check this page:

    http://Wu.krelay.de/en/

Other than that, start with Kernel Mode driver updates. ;)

You may be unable to access the Windows Update site...

You must be at Service Pack 3 level before you can use Windows updates.

To determine which service pack is currently installed on your computer, follow these steps:

    1. Click Startand then click run.
    2. Copy and paste, or type the following command, and then click OK:
      winver

A dialog box displays the version of Windows and the service pack that is currently installed on your computer.

If you haven't already done so, you will need to install the SP2 and SP3 (SP1 note no longer exists).

  • error 80070490 trying to do the update of windows Vista. How to solve

I'm urged repeatedly to allow an update of windows.  I'm sure that I need, but it is no help ANYWHERE on the web for 80070490 'unknown error' this error prevents any update and is a problem.

There are dozens of other error codes answers, but none that apply to this error.  I'm just the update proposed by windows on a laptop with Vista that has no other significant attachment problems.

There must be an error code and "how to fix" somewhere.  At least, it seems to reduce the demand for technical assistance from IS.

  • I can't get the updates of windows in Windows 7

    Original title: 123ash

Hi, I installed Win 7.1 Professional 64-bit on my Gateway laptop. It has been authenticated

Everything works except that I can't get windows updates. When I try to download the green lights in the bar and just continues to run. I got it on for hours. I checked to make sure that the update services are on and set to manual startup. BITS is running as well. The update of the victory is not blocked by the firewall.

I don't have a single update to date. Explore Internet settings have been changed by default.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

I made sure that the BIT has been started.

I have disabled the Windows Firewall (as I have a Bullguard internet security firewall as well).

Then I tried the udater and it worked! Thanks for the advice above.

  • Vista: Error 800700c 1 trying to apply the update for Windows (KB2416400)

    As the title suggests.

The system is trying to update, but it fails.

This is a security update so I thought it would be important, but can not find a single article about this problem.

I tried the email support option, and it was unnecessary

    Someone at - it solutions?

I solved the problem on my own and... surprise!  once more he had nothing to do with a virus.

You're far, far, far, far from quick access to call virus without having any evidence to support the claim

Microsoft also has a huge problem of not providing enough logging to help a user to determine the cause of a failed update.  It doesn't help anyone.

What I have is as follows and hope that helps someone else.  I don't know what point fixed, but the patch has finally been installed

Connected as an administrator, I did the following:

    -updated to the latest java

-updated the last flash and shockwave

-emptied the cache for IE and purge the temporary folders

-deleted the cache used by windows update

-removed all is not plug-ins associated adobe (I have some that I need for school)

    -a ran a disk check

-conducted a scan of CWS to ensure that no problem

-turned off the startup applications all

    -restarted

    -Ran update as an administrator.

Miracle or miracles, the installation of the update worked – shocking once, that nothing related to the virus.

I think that this virus card is played far too often

Which of these actually didn't solved the problem - no idea.  But it was much better than what is suggested in the recommended response.

Its this kind of pain that makes people so mad at Microsoft.
