I'm trying to set Firefox as browser-home page. Please advise?
Words in the window 'Question' above pretty much all mean; earlier this afternoon, 10/10/2014 a really strange thing happened I can't explain clearly, but it made me try to set the browser Firefox (search engine) as homepage... maybe I should have typed "Mozilla", but I'm not sure...
Detail: I would probably say that I use W8.1 I hate, but am trying to learn.
Could someone please tell me how to go about setting FM or it's just "M"? Each so-called article explaining the process begins with "Mozilla Open", and really, I don't know how you do that in this new OS.
Someone tried to tell me that FM or is it all just M isn't a search engine browser thing. Hoping that no one was wrong!
Please advise? TIA,
Omnigusted.
Mozilla Firefox or rather Firefox (Fx is the appropriate abbreviation) is a web browser, because it is not a search engine or a homepage. A web browser is what allows you to view sites like this forum, for example.

I contacted you before on Babylon. I have reset your browser and your Internet Explorer browser, but nothing has worked so far.
I uninstalled Babylon and looked up solutions on the web. Please can you help me?
Hello birddog2, if your manual changes don't 'stick' after a restart of the browser, please make sure you have all associated Babylon extensions or other suspicious entries like 3 rd-party-toolbars currently installed under firefox > addons > extensions and the windows control panel (Babylon could install unwanted stuff that comes under the names 'browser Manager', "Browser Portector" (, 'Bprotector"'Object Installer', etc.) or in the control panel > programs section.
in the case, it does not resolve the issue please, try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "view folder", then a new window will open. in this search on a file named user.js window (it can be used to overwrite your custom settings). where it is present, delete or rename this file and then restart firefox.

I use firefox as my home page. On a regular basis, it tells me im not not using the latest version. When I click on the help icon it says im update. Sometimes a large orange icon appears to the left of the part that says im not not using the latest version. Have uninstalled and downloaded again but still the same.
Help would be appreciatedFirefox is a web browser, not a homepage.
Looks like you have the old www.google.com/firefox/ start page to be the default home page in Firefox before Firefox 4.0 sometime. It is not maintained by Google more so either ignore the message or while in Firefox, go to tools-> Options-> general-> home page section and change your home page.

I want just a single tab with my home page at startup. After updating to Firefox 5, I can't get rid of the home page. After update to support download, I can't get rid of the tab saying I need to update to 4.9.3 4.9.4. I removed Download helper and reinstalled but still have the problem.

I have never set up email in Windows. Please advise me on how to do it. Thank you
* Original title: Windows mail
I have never set up email in Windows. Please advise me on how to do it. Thank you
See Bruce Hagen answer and I would add that there is no obligation to use the e-mail program included with Windows.
As far as I am concerned, as with other programs provided with Windows (almost all programs in all versions of Windows), the application of electronic mail that ships with Windows Vista is a very bad choice. Are a lot of other choices available: some by Microsoft and by third parties, some for sale and some free. They are almost all better than what comes with Windows.
I recommend that you don't just use what comes with Windows, but try several others and choose the one you prefer. -
I was on the Firefox help page and tried everything that was suggested. I have yet to find a default selection value where I can put my home page to open to say 125% or a way to have it open where I don't have to enlarge each page - whenever I open it.
You can increase the chain pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1,0 to 2,0 to 0.1 or 0.05 as follows to adjust the size of all fonts and other elements in Firefox (percentage divided by DPI, for example 150% / 96).
In current versions of Firefox this pref is a string parsed in float value and allows you to adjust the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) more precisely.
To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access this page.- Use the filter at the top bar of the on: page config to more easily spot a preference.
- Preferences that have changed see the bold (user set).
- Preferences you can restore the default value or change via the context menu.
-
on the tab General options, I have a home page at startup. But Firefox 28 ignores this option. It opens rather than who had open last time.
My root problem could not turn any subject: config parameter. So, I guess
My preference were corrupt. I did like one of your suggested links and launched the safe mode and reset to factory default. I'm good again. Thank you!! -
Why firefox changed yahoo home page. Now different from IE
For some reason any Yahoo homepage which I always use has been changed on Firefox. On IE, it's the good old home page that I not only like but was used to. I prefer Firefox as my browser but want to the Yahoo homepage back regular. Any ideas?
The left one looks like a 'mobile' simplified layout. It could be that one of your Yahoo cookies that Firefox is sending to the site has a preference for this layout. Private Windows having a separate set of cookies, which would be consistent with the results of your test.
You want to try to clear all cookies from your Yahoo to see if that fixes it? First, save all work in progress such as the draft e-mail messages. While displaying a page on the site, try either:
- Right click and select View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".
- (menu bar) Menu Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".
In the dialog box that opens, yahoo.com should show at the top. You can delete cookies from the site individually, without affecting other sites.
Then try to reload the page. Who help me?

Firefox has a home page, like IE or should I use a different browsers home page?
I want out of the MSN homepage in IE and I was wondering if a homepage is available in Firefox? I can't seem to find anything that could answer this question, but I'm not well versed in the use of the computer.
Probably a thing of the age.Firefox and IE are web browsers. You can set any page you want the home page in Firefox, or leave the field blank. The default homepage in Firefox is Subject: Home

I ran scans using Norton Security Suite and Microsoft Safety Scanner and cannot get rid of the malware Taskeng.exe. My guess is that because it shares the same name as a legitimate file, the antivirus software does not recognize it as a malware. Also, I went online to get suggestions and tried to open the computer in Mode safe to look for a second file with the same name, but it does not appear. The malware Taskeng.exe turn away from my Firefox at Yahoo homepage which slows down Firefox when opening and it slows the opening of other sites as well. Suggestions?
Favorite and use this.
Mozilla search reset {web link}
This module is very simple: when installing, it backs up
and then resets your search and home page preferences
at their default values and then to uninstall. This

page.FIRST BUT cela;
Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:
- Microsoft safety scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more information, see this other AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one.
