You will need to go on the manufacturer of your pc and then ask for a windows xp disk and drivers. This will give you a new copy, but not out of the box state. For an out of the box, get a recovery disk. Just answer what you want.

Best advice: contact Dell - they will tell you what you must do in your particular case.

No matter what - know whatever it is you do not have backup (files, Internet bookmarks, emails, contacts, photos, documents, etc.) will be lost.

Success may be just a touch at the start.

  • Intermittent slowness; should I clean and re-install from scratch?

I realize that it is a trick question... I have an iMac 2013 that I bought as a referb to Apple a little less than a year before. Right from the beginning I had a lot of performance issues. I finally took it in an Apple authorized service location (they worked on many of my other macs in the past). They discovered a bad internal drive and replaced it. Compared to the original performance issues, he seemed much better (for once).

Within weeks, I saw a lot of downturns intermittent (lots of rotation beach balls). I brought them and the 'cleaned' and without asking, me improved Yosemite to El Capitan. I was a little annoyed by this movement, but with hindsight, I'm glad that I've updated (because I hate the upgrade - if it ain't broke, don't fix it).

Fast forward a few months. Things are still sluggish. Usually when you start applications. Once the things up a race, they seem ok. But after the awakening of the machine, it may take time for things to calm down. A lot, a lot of rotation beach balls. Very frustrating for the least and worst of all, it's computer main of my wife and I'm tired of all the complaints... "What is happening?" "Why mouse scroll? "What's taking so long?"

A bit of history that could enlighten us... I was happily running Snow Leopard on an iMac for many years. One day, he would not display (but seems to be start). The thing being out of warranty, I decided to take the plunge and get a new iMac. It came with Yosemite. I was told that I could transfer all my stuff using a firewire cable connected between 2 macs. I did it. I'm done with many broken apps, that I deleted.

My question is, if my problems could be related to a bunch of junk on the new mac? I hate to reinstall everything again, but I'm starting to wonder if it would be the best solution. Wipe the hard drive, install the OS, do all the updates, then create my user accounts (my wife and child and me), and then manually reinstall applications (that I still need).  Fortunately, I have a macbook pro that I use, the iMac is less important to me these days. All of my data on external drives, and I have a ton of backups. I was thinking about using Carbon Copy clone to clone internally, so that I can book still off the clone if I need to.

Any thoughts?  I know this is a long post, but I feel better get out of my chest.

    Thank you

  • What is advanced Mac cleaner and Zipcloud?

I have a MB Pro mid 2012. Recently, I received a notification that an update was available and he came an offer to install a couple of free program called Advanced Mac cleaner and Zipcloud that would protect and 'clean up' my Mac. Since these came with the update, I assumed they were a legitimate Apple auxiliary and safe to install. But when I ran Adware Medic (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) identified these programs as malware.  Can someone please comment?  I have not yet tried to erase those two requests.

They are two bins: If you have installed them you must get rid of them as soon as possible and do not use them. At best they they will do very little, but they can cause problems and can also be difficult to remove. They would never be included in an official Apple update - have you used another source? Updates Apple software or systems should come only from software update in the Apple Menu or the Mac App Store in Applications.

  • MY APPLE WATCH THAT I HAV 29 GB OF VIDEOS BUT I CAN'T FIND THEM, I NEED TO BACK UP AND DELETE

For the other category in the display of information storage, see this support article. If the display appears to be inaccurate, try to rebuild the Spotlight index.

Empty the trash if you don't have it already done. If you use iPhoto, emptying his trash internal everything first:

    ▹ iPhoto empty the trash

    In pictures:

▹ Show of the recently deleted ▹ file delete all

Do the same thing in other applications like Aperture, with an internal feature of the trash. Then, restart the computer. Temporarily, which will free up space.

According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot volume (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation, not the mythical 10%, 15% or any percentage. You also need enough space to allow the growth of the data over. There is little or no advantage in terms of performance to get more free space than the minimum Apple recommends. Storage space you'll never use is wasted space.

When Time Machine backs up a Mac laptop, some free space will be used to make a snapshots the, who are backups of deleted files recently. The space occupied by the local snapshots is declared as available by the Finder and should be considered as such. In the view of storage of the information system, snapshots appear them as backups. The snapshots are deleted automatically when they expire or when free space becomes less than a certain level. You don't need to usually and should not, remove snapshots them yourself. If you have followed the bad advice to disable snapshots the running a shell command, you may have ended up with a large amount of data in the other category. Ask for instructions in this case.

See this support article for some easy ways to free up storage space. A common waste of space is old backups iTunes to mobile devices. As shown in this support article, select the devices tab in the iTunes preferences window, select the backup that you want to remove and click on delete the backups. Keep at least a backup of each device you use yet.

You can use a tool such OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and discover what is take up space. You can also delete files with it, but not unless you don't know you know what you remove and that all data is stored safely. This means that you have several backups, not one. Note that CESO works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you use an older version of the OS, use GP.

Deletion of files inside a photo library or iTunes will damage the library. Such a library should be changed within the application that created it. It is the same for e-mail files.

Go further than if the problem is not resolved by the steps above.

ODS or GP can not see the whole file system when you run simply by double-clicking; He sees only the files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you must run it as root.

Back up all the data now.

Install the application in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it runs.

Triple-click anywhere in the row of the text below on this page to select it, and then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

    For ODS:

    security execute-with-privileges /A*/OmniDiskSweeper.app/*/M*/* 2>&-

    For PMS:

    security execute-with-privileges /A*/GrandPerspective.app/*/M*/* 2>&-

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing command + V. You will be asked for your login password.

The application window opens behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will finally show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.

I do not recommend that you make a habit of doing. Do not delete anything as root. If something should be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then remove by safer alternatives. If in doubt, leave it alone or ask for advice.

When you are finished with the app, he quit and also to leave Terminal.

I receive a "Low disk space" message and to free up space (d) car which seems full of backup files dating from when I got the laptop. Now I also have the message 'the last backup impossible' because I don't have enough space on this drive.  He had originally 110 GB Local disk (d :)) and it fell to 7.44 MB of free space.) Can I remove the back of the 'safeguards' located in the 3 files and start on the 17/04/2008 right up to 2011-01.05 and just keep the last backup or removing the back will cause problems? Can someone help thank you.

    Hi KarenRoss56,

You can try to remove the old files of backup from 2008 to 2010 and check.

Note: When you delete these files and later if you perform a restore, you will not be able to get previous data. If you need one of these files, you can transfer the files to an external drive before you delete the system files.

You can also use Disk Cleanup to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run more quickly.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    Hope this information is useful.
