upgrade CPU i7 in dv6t: Win does not start

In my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6t Quad), I replaced my old processor i7-720QM with an i7-840QM (same TDP, 45W). However, my Win 7 x 64 does not start now. It receives with regard to "start Windows" / pulses Win logo screen, but then it freezes and does nothing. If I power off power, I get "Windows did not start properly. I have to select "repair Windows". I see "Loading Windows files", then briefly green, 'Microsoft Windows' with a bar and then, once again, nothing. I was now in my old i7-720QM (the fact that I was able to go back to my old CPU smoothly tells me that I know how to swap the processors correctly). I checked the BIOS is the latest available for my laptop (F1D 05/10/2010). No idea what I should try? Should win 7 some drivers to recognize the new CPU?

Second time the charm: I managed to upgrade to the 840. Not sure what exactly went wrong the first time around, probably that Win cannot install the drivers for the CPU.

I just upgraded to window 7 for windows 10. 6 Lightroom does not start because it cannot open the catalog or one of my backups

Yes, once the user account is the upgrade to windows 10 have permission on the folder of photo issue, which prevents the Lightroom to create the necessary temp file when the catalog is launched.

This is the reason why I asked to copy the catalog file to another location to narrow down the reason for the problem.

  • When I click on the Windows 7 Upgrade nothing happens and the program does not start.

This is on a Dell Vostro 1520.

I'm trying to reinstall an os upgrade Windows 7 32 bit.

I am currently using Vista 32 bit. I sell the dell so I formatted and reinstalled 32 bit Vista OS.

The computer was running on an operating system Windows 7 before the reinstall.

Now when I click on the Windows 7 upgrade it does not load.

When I try to open since the reboot it will not open either.

    What now?

    Hey, Slugger,

New installation leaves you a better overall installation,

    Installation custom own steps

You can use a Full Windows 7 or upgrade disk to do a custom clean install. This will remove all of your programs, but you can save your files and settings on an external storage before doing so. You will need to reinstall all your programs after installing Windows 7. Here are the steps:

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are known problems that might affect installation and if you can install the 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-Advisor

2 back up your files and settings. To avoid losing everything that you will need to save copies of all files, photos and other information that you want to keep an external storage device. Windows Easy Transfer is a free tool allows you to copy your files (but not programs) from your PC and then transfer them back after you have installed Windows 7. If you don't want to use Windows Easy Transfer, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick or CD/DVD.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/Windows-easy-transfer

    3. find the discs original installation and license/product keys associated to programs currently on your computer because you will have to manually reinstall your programs after installing Windows 7. Depending on what you have installed, you may be able to download programs from the Internet.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)." Note: 32 to 64-bit requires restart and boot from the DVD.

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, you can use Windows Easy Transfer (or a different backup method you used) to restore your files & settings and use your installation disks to reinstall all your programs. Then you're done - take advantage of Windows 7.

Steps 2, 3and 4 are recommended for Dell not offering systems not Windows 7 installed at the factory. Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to check that all of your software and computer components are ready for Windows 7. This application will scan your system and make recommendations on what to do before the upgrade to Windows 7.

    Hi all

I'm working on laptop HP Pavillion G7-1070us of my father, and I'm having a problem starting after the installation of 8 GB of RAM.  I upurchased 2 sticks of 4 GB of DDR3 PC10600 UN buffered, NON ECC RAM of Frys and everytime I go to start the laptop it throws an error that can not load Windows and offers to run the repair or start normally... little matter that you select, it goes back in the loop of what prompts to repair or load... The BIOS recognizes all the 8 gb... have you tried 2 different sets of different manufacturers (Patriot and Crucial). As soon as I pop 2 2 GB sticks in it boots fine... I even tried to start the the Windows 7 DVD to repair windows, but he always comes back in the loop... I tried the two current and previous BIOS without success... Help, please

  • Tecra A11 - 11N does not start after upgrading CPU

    Hello

I would like to do an upgrade of the processor for my Tecra A11 i5 - 430 M 11N to a probably much faster i5 processor. I thought that the i5 - 580 M'd, but the laptop does not start when I installed this processor.

I started the 430M, done some research on the internet and discovered that the 580 M has a very high FSB speed, and that is what probably does not work / not compatible with my machine.

    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/43537/
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/49653
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/49652

    and also http://ark.intel.com/

Now, I went back to the computer store, returned the 580M and got an i5 - 560 M compared to its specifications as I've seen it would not compatible because it has the same speed of the FSB with the 430 M.

I then later in the day tried to install this cpu as an upgrade, BUT alas!
It STILL does not START ALSO.
I was dumfounded left. The processors in the same line of the family are supposed to be compatible between them provided: lithography, FSB and socket type are similar.

    Or what I'm missing here?
I did upgrades of CPU in many cases for desktop computers and laptops, and this is the first that has left me with no word to say!

    Please offer assistance or advice.

    Hello

Recommend to check this doc from Toshiba:

+ Can I put th CPU, screen, or motherboard in my Toshiba laptop? +
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ35006D000RR01.htm

Upgrading the CPU is not supported (officially).
The point is that, even if the chipset would support the new processor, it would be possible that the laptop wouldn't start because of compatibility problems between the BIOS or other components on the motherboard and the new processor.

  • Compaq 6200 PRO MT: Makes the computer does not start after upgrade CPU

I have the HP Compaq 6200 PRO PC of MT 615114-001 motherboard and processor Intel Celeron CPU (LGA 1155). After I changed the CPU for Intel Core i5 (LGA 1155) computer does not start. He begins a minute (less than one second) and stops again. No beeps. After you have installed the Celeron back everything works fine. i5 CPU is brand new. What can be?

In my previous post, I explained the reason it has not worked, and listed the CPU that will work.

HP tests CPU in the laboratory and publishes a list of processors that will work in a notebook.

Notebook motherboard BIOS has a list of processors that will work. If it is installed, which is not encoded as OK in the BIOS ROM file, then this will not work.

Processors published (in the maintenance guide & Service for your nttebook series model) are available in models that can be deilvered in State CTO (configured to order).

  • Windows 7 upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit, 64 does not start on its own

I am trying to upgade win 7 32-bit to 64-bit. I bought a new copy of Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.  It does not start on its own, is there some

type of bootloader on the net. who's going to help or what!

To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

    -----------------------------------------------
You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

  • Firefox does not start (not safe mode), but uses the CPU

I have the latest Firefox 25.0 (and the last Flash 11.9.900.117) on Windows 7 and the following behavior is reproducible. It started not too long ago.

At first when I launch Firefox, nothing appears no matter how often, I restart. I see in the list of the process firefox.exe to 25% of the CPU, 2 x FlashPlayerPlugin_11_9_900_117.exe (CPU 0%) and plugincontainer.exe. No matter how many times I killed all of them, would not restart Firefox.

The following also not help in this situation:

    • Starting in normal safe mode: Firefox opens a window but immediately freezes and does not respond. The process list shows the same process even if I find the unexpected FlashPlayer.
    • Disable plugincontainer: same results (just without plugincontainer.exe)
    • Uninstall Flash: Same results (just without FlashPlayerPlugin)

The following can start Firefox only once:

    • Starting in SafeMode but select "Reset Firefox": Firefox does not start right away, however. Nothing happens, and you have to kill the process. However the very next time you launch Firefox in the normal way, it works fine (but it shows FlashPlayerPlugin.exe in the list of unopened Windows process despite the tab). Unfortunately, after closing Firefox the process (Firefox, FlashPlayerPlugin) are not deleted. I kill and the problem with Firefox do not leave reappears.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

    • do not delete Cookies

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

Use "Firefox > output" (Windows: Firefox/file > quit;) Mac: Firefox > quit Firefox. Linux: Firefox/file > exit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing by clicking on the X close in the title bar of Firefox.

Create a new profile manually (and not via the reset) as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem.

  • upgrade fails 3A 15 vom: unpacking OK but the installation does not start

Current version is on my Windows 2000 SP3 my Firefox 3.0.19. I can't update anymore!
    There are two phenomena:
1.) when you use the function "search for updates", it offers a maximum version 3.0.19 upgrade.
2.) when I update manually (for version 15), it unpacks the files correctly but does NOT start the installation program - without ANY error message.

And I can't find any archive version here to try a progressive example version 5 or 10 upgrade, unfortunately. Are there not all archives?... Or what problem you think, I have?...

    Thank you for responding.

15.0.1 Firefox will not install on Windows 2000. Your best bet is to upgrade to Windows XP or later version, or install Firefox 12 of ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/12.0/.

For more information, see Firefox no longer works with Windows 2000 .

In addition, update your windows, you are missing a service pack

  • First HP: HP first does not start after upgrading firmware 20160414

    Hello world

Yesterday, I tried to update the firmware of my first HP as the connectivity kit he advised. Now, the first does not start.  The only way I can get it to do something, is pressing the Symb key and reset at the back. It then enters the V16 recovery mode.

I am able to download the firmware, but after that it just does not start.

I have reinstalled the kit connection several times.

I used the option "use the new method of update" in the connectivity kit. But it won't help. I tried to download older versions of firmware.

I tried the factory reset options: A, F, key simmultaneously O and then with the reset on the back

I tried the Apps, Esc, now.

    It just does not start.

    Any suggestions anyone?

    With sincere friendships.

The suspect first IMO is win10. You are a brave man to make an update based on win10. Try to do this on a computer with 7 or 8.

Some on this forum may say they made a correct update of the firmware with 10 victory.

However, to win 10 is known to his problems with the drivers and the software which is not original ms or not correctly connected.

  • TPSMain.exe does not start on Satellite U400 - 14 p PSU44E running Win XP

    Hello

    I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on my U400 PSU44E - 14 p.
I found all the drivers on the official website of Toshiba (thank you) but one in the origin of the problems: TPSMain.exe does not start when I start the computer.

Once I type my password and login, I hear a typical Windows error sound, but no message is displayed. I noticed that when you try to start the Toshiba Power Saver utility from the Control Panel, I got an error message telling me that I have enough privileges to run this utility...

    I am the administrator!

If you guys encountered the same problem and got a hint of trouble, feel free to post here. THX.

I have a Toshiba Satellite U400 and I installed Win XP too.
I have a user account administrator and Toshiba Power Saver works properly!
No problem don't like on your system!

However, in the Toshiba Power Saver Settings (installation options), you can find the option called limited allows the user to change the settings and allow different actions for each profile.

    Check that both are enabled!

If this doesn't help then reinstalling again this tool.

  • Satellite L670-1EE does not start after upgrading RAM 4 GB to 8 GB

I'm trying to upgrade the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB. If I replace two 2 GB of 2 modules of 4 GB modules, the BIOS (which is the most recent) realize the 8 GB, but does not start at startup. There is just the white cursor blinking not.

When I put in the 1 4 GB module and 1 2 GB module the system starts without a problem and has 6 GB. I checked the two 4 GB modules, they work in any combination, but not when both are installed together.

I couldn't find any rider or the settings of the bios for the RAM...

    Any idea?

Thanks in advance for the help

The last plausible explanation is that both modules are ok, but not compatible with each other.
The laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB of RAM. This should not be a problem since the unit is supported by the Chipset Mobile Intel HM55 Express.

So I think that you need to replace the modules Kingston modules are great and work without problem.

  • Re: Smoker L30-10 X PSL33E does not start after upgrading RAM

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop.
    It has 1024 MB of RAM (2 x 512), but it wasn't enough, so I decided to update to 2048 MB (2 x 1024).

I bought two modules and my computer does not start after changing them.
It was only a screen black (same BIOS has not started). I tried another combination of installation of memory modules RAM.
    2 x 1024 - did not work
    1 x 1024 - did not work
    1 x 1024 + 1 x 512 - working but not properly.

BIOS find that I only 896 MB (1024-128 for the video card)
I said OK. Let's see what will show windows. He was also 896 MB.
I launched CPU - Z and it shows that the total size of memory is 1536 MB (medium detect both modules).
I found that CPU - Z detect 1 module 1 024 MB and 512 MB secondary, but the BIOS detect only 1024 MB 1536. How is that possible?

I have fought, is that my BIOS is old, then I update the toshiba Web site form most recent version, but the problem persists.
Please someboy help me and tell what to do.

PS. the Modules are new and work correctly.
    They have been tested.

    Hello

Have you used two identical RAM modules?

What kind of modules did you use?

In my view, that the problem is related to the new, inserted modules.
There must be something wrong with the modules or modules are not completely compatible if the laptop can not boot after installation.

According to a few pages of the book handles the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM modules.

    Did you use these modules?
