I need to update my video hardware (video card)? How can I do?

I need to update my hardware (video card?) video for a game that I want to play and I have no idea how to do that. I don't know where to look for what I have installed on my computer. Help please?

[Moved from comments]

Hello

When you ask questions here at least provide your computer model number and version of the operating system and the system requirements for the game in particular.

And a little tip for you: If you don't know what you're doing on your computer, you expose yourself to expensive damage to it by opening and remove the material and installation of new equipment.

I suggest you get out your computer a good computer repair shop, local as well as the requirements for the particular game and ask them to upgrade the hardware that run the game.

As well as installing a graphics card upgrade, you need memory RAM (memory) must be installed as well.

System requirements for the game will tell you that information.

See you soon.

We have an integrated video card, but I need graphis better to play better games. Can I install a geforce 8400 gs?

    Wisterial, welcome to the forum.

Yes, you can upgrade to a PCI (NOT PCI Express 16 x or AGP) 8400 GS.  You have only three PCI slots.  Now for the things to consider.  You should check the power of the power supply unit (PSU).  You can do this by opening the case and by reading the label on.  The 8400 GS I found required a minimum of 300W.  If your PSU is equal or greater to 250W, this one would work.  Most of the manufacturers overstate the power necessary for the performance of their cards.

There are many PCI cards available, but they are not very good for the games.  If you buy one, you should consider switching at least 2 GB of memory, too.  Crucial is a good place to buy it.

  • I have an IBM thinkpad with an ati mobility radeon series display and when I try to play a game says I need to update my video card...

I am totally lost and spent two hours trying to figure this out. I just bought the sims 3 and when I try to play said: device 0 cannot run this title. Your video card does not support at least Shader Model 2. Please update your card.
I tried to update my drivers but to no avail. I have no idea what to do here, can anyone help please? I just want to play this game!

Your video card is basic it is perfect for office 2D work which is what this laptop was designed for. It is not suitable for playing games and video chip does not respect the Sims 3 system requirements. There is nothing you can do about it. This isn't a limitation of software (drivers), but a physical limitation (this video card cannot play this game). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Diablo III runs slow on my pc, not that I need to update my video card and power supply

I have a HP Pavilion p6523w. I can run diablo 3, but it is extremely slow and I guess that choppy looking. I tried to work with blizzard on the problem, but it's slow going. I have looked and can't find anything concrete, but feel that my video chip can simply don't have the necessary ooomphh. But before I go out and spend money on things I didn't need. I thought someone here might be able to help out me.

    :-)

Yes - but what happens if you want a better card next year that requires 550W?
OK this requirements are without physical limits at all - it also depends on what you have changed or that you want to change next to the graphics card - an additional audio card? Other cards? A second HDD? Another drive?

Just check out what is offered, if you can get a 550W without much more money, then take it. Look for a big fan - he will be more silencer/cooler.
It will of course make no sense to take a 1000W for an additional card.

Look at what is offered in your area.
    Maybe Enermax, Thermaltake?

Check tests of the computer sites.

Try disabling the AMD APP SDK Runtime as follows.

    1. Go to your control panel and select "Uninstall a program" or "programs and features".
    2. Locate and select 'AMD Catalyst Manager.'
    3. Along the top of the list, you should see "Organize", "Uninstall", "Change" and "repair".  Select 'change '.
    4. Follow the instructions until you select "uninstall Manager".
    5. Select custom.
    6. Uncheck the "AMD APP SDK Runtime" and continue to follow the guests.
    7. Finish and restart your computer.

Recently, I downloaded minecraft. I played only once and I know that its law does not. I had to lower the acceleration so it will play. * original title - my computer cannot update video card but he can't play minecraft as it should. What should I do? *

    Hi Craig l. Williams,.

Have you checked on the website of the manufacturer directly?  If you bought it separately from the video card you want to navigate to the Intel Web site.  If it is preinstalled on your system, you want to go to the Web site of the manufacturer of the system for the updated drivers.

I think I need to upgrade the video card. If that's true, this what should I update with and should I update anything else to ensure the uninterrupted right game?  Thank you for helping me.

    DC, welcome to the forum.

The computer being 7 years old, I think not a video card would help.  The maximum amount of memory system that will support the motherboard is 1 GB.  It is not enough to run one of the newest games.  In addition, the processor is not capable of those running, either.  I suggest saving your money for a new computer.

  • trying to run Windows 7 on my computer, but I need a good video card that can support Aero

Hi, I am trying to run Windows 7 on my computer, but I need a good video card that can support Aero. I would like a card that can run games too. Does anyone know a good AGP video with at least 256 MB of RAM?

I just installed Windows 7 temporarily so I have a work desk. I have a new copy of Windows 7 was waiting when it is nearing completion, and I will install my new copy after I get a graphics card and processor for it.

Also, I was looking for some video cards and I found some but I would like some opinions on them. And I would like to know if they're going to run Aero.

  • SR2180NX adding memory and a video card, how?

I finally decided to do a upgrade to my PC but I pushed my brain batty, trying to figure out how I would add memory and if I should update my video card now cause my Sims 2 game, instead of smooth running, it runs a little rough and frame by frame. Very annoying. I also want the Sims 3 to be able to run on my computer, I hope I can get it all done before they release.
I have windows vista Home premium, and I have a PC I did not do anything for her, so it's a bit as if it was from the factory around a few programs of vanilla.

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but can run relatively slower. Autonomous cards installed in vanilla (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP) PCI slots, such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform badly. Intel chipsets integrated starring parts underclockes would not run properly.

Chipsets integrated such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should operate satisfactorily.

Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that is not listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or make the game work do not at all.
The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

and he also said when I watched the news of the memory of the BIOS screen:

    Installed memory 1024 MB/PC2-4200

    Memory bench 3 512 MB/DDR2 SDRAM

I know that I have to add memory and a video card, or even a power supply according to the video card, I get. Memory seems simple and easy to do, but the power SUPPLY and the video card, makes me a little nervous, any suggestions on what I should get and instructions on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated Thx! I apologize for this post being so long.

Adding instructions are here. When you buy new memory be sure and go to the website of the manufacturer of the memory. Use only brands so that they ensure th your product compatibility. Use the memory Configurator tools on the website of the manufacturer of the memory. Here are a few major brands for you: Kingston, Crucial, Corsair:

Change the power supply: This video on youtube is pretty decent for generic power supply switching.

Thislinkhas information on opening the cover and remove the cover.

When you select a video card do not get cards great physically (i.e. ATI HD 4870 / 4850) because they are double wide and does not have limited space. Fantastic cards but are not for the pre-built PC.

Any ATX PSU fits your case. 450 watts or therabouts enough for almost any addition of hardware on your pc. Do yourself a favor and stick the best brands such as Corsair, OCZ and others. Generic brands are not worth the problems they can bring even if they are cheaper.
