I have a document composed of separate PDF files that reside in a folder and are related to each other through hyperlinks. Each pdf file is configurΘ for dΘmarrer with bookmarks displayed, however if I have a link to one PDF file to another and use the "back" button to return to my starting point bookmarks are replaced by "vignette". Is there anyway to prevent this?

    Hi Mike,.

While the implementation of the links, if you choose to open the file in a new window then you will not experience this issue, then you can simply switch to the file view and previous bookmark will remain as it is.

Is that what helps with your query?

  • Open a new File() by Script and set the Type of PDF file fails...

    Hi all

I created a script to download PDFs from a server and store them in an Indesign Document. Everything works fine except Indesign doesn't not recocnize file Type when you try to place the pdf file and get an error that the downloaded PDF file cannot be due to the filter of the unknown.

This is because the file type is apparently set to TEXT (creator is CARO) event if I write the file with

    myFile.open ('w', 'PDF', "CARO");

    No idea how

-get Indesign all the file type of a file newly generated in PDF format

    or

-Change the Type of file later

    or

-tell Indesign what filter to use when you place this file?

    Thanks for your help

    BTW: Indesign CS5 (7.0.4), OS X 10.6.8

UH... but you might be better off placing both '\0\0\0\0' and leave the treatment kick file extension.

  • How can I get firefox to open a pdf file in adobe instead of the new pdf reader?

Before the recent update, 19.0, I google something and see [PDF] next to a link. I click the Center button to open it in a new tab. Firefox might download the file and open it with Adobe Reader. I like this.

With the new update 19.0, the pdf file would open in the new tab. I have to down load it and then open it in Adobe. I don't like this.

I'm going to preferences under applications. I look to see if I can change that. Next to document Adobe Reader, I choose to use Adobe Reader, but when I click on a link [PDF], it always opens the file in Firefox and not Adobe.

I want to go back to the way it was.

Problem: Open a pdf file in Firefox, he wants to save the file.
    Remedy:
In Firefox, tools, Options, choose the column on the left (Content Type) Applications tab, select Portable Document Format (pdf). Right column (Action) choose Preview in Firefox.
    I use Firefox 21.0.

  • Cannot open a PDF file that is downloaded from the internet

For the past two months, PDFs a lot (but not all) cannot be opened after being registered.

The message is Adobe Reader could not open "Worlds most competitive cities IBM 2013.pdf" because it is not a type of supported file or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been correctly decoded).

What is a solution that a layman can do?

    Jerry Hultin

    It is a Safari problem

    Go to: Mac/HD/Library/Internet Plugins

Trash the files AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

    Empty the trash.

Relaunch Safari and you can download a PDF file without error.

  • Added a link to a pdf file, but can't do the link box that is smaller in size

I need to have a link on each line. However, the size of link box is in 0.35 and it bathes the second line.  When I try to change the link area it won't have the tiny box.  Is it possible to change the area in another way?

I am able to create a rectangle and do smaller.

See the attachment - I want a link on the Allegheny and Armstrong, but the link box is too large.

It seems to vary.  You can have a "Check for updates" in your help menu.  If you are behind a corporate servers that cannot connect even if the option is there (see your administrator).

If you are independent, it should.

Otherwise, visit this page and download the update for your product.

    http://www.spfcp.org/bulletins.cfm

November PDF files will open OK. December watch boxes, no text.
I contacted their person tech, who assures me that nothing has changed on their end. I am able to view the files, normally, in IE, but I don't want to use IE.

    Help, please!

I too get the boxes on my end. This most likely means that they did not use a font that is not recognized by the Firefox PDF built in Viewer.
If you download the file to your computer and open it with Adobe Reader, it appears correctly.

I've just updated to Version 2015.009.20069 in the last day or two and have an annual plan for Acrobat DC Pro that is about to expire in December.  I am now unable to change PDF files, in particular I want to delete a page in a document but cannot.  Can you advise please?

    What "update you"?

Did you install Adobe Acrobat Reader to thing of error that you were "updated" your version of Acrobat? If so, you should always have Acrobat on your system. Open and use the file > Open to open your pdf files.

And if it works, you need to change your file associations to use Acrobat to open PDFs instead of the free software Acrobat Reader.

  • To open a Pdf file on the second monitor

Original title: two monitors and open files
    Hello!!

I have now two monitors on my desktop and I want to know how I can open a PDF on the second monitor, and keep all my PDFs on the first monitor? I want to simply click in the file - on the first monitor - and the file opens automatically on the second monitor.

    Thank you

    M. Vilela

    Hello

Try these steps and check if you are able to open the PDF file on the second monitor...
    a. open a PDF file. Now, UN-maximize the file.
    (b) move it to the other monitor.
    c. now, close the document without maximizing it on the new monitor.

    d. now attempt to open a PDF file.
    e. it should open on the second monitor.
    f. maximise, close the vial.
    g. now opens a new PDF on the new monitor, and it will be maximized when opened.

Adobe will remember whether or not a document has been expanded and open PDF one another in the same way, but it will update the monitor to use when a document is closed so that not maximized.

  • TimeoutException - during the web service method call that opens a PDF file

I am updating a legacy program that uses Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0.  The idea is that the customer is calling web service methods, which manage open a PDF file, reading or writing in the PDF file, if necessary and closing.  He then returned data (if reading) to the client.

The only problem with what I'm having is that the client will take a break for about 60 seconds and raise a TimeoutException.

I know that the method on the end of web services works, because I wrote a quick driver who calls the same method, but it is running normally and works perfectly.

My question is, basically, what would cause the client to be block/gel during the call to the web service method to perform this operation? Everything works on my workstation, and I've debugged to see that filename passed is the same in both tests.

    Thank you!

This would be better addressed in the forum of the Acrobat SDK kit.

  • You don't have permission to open this PDF file

    Hello

I have a new system with Windows 7 Pro.

I can't open any PDF file if they are in the MY Documents folder.  If I use Adobe Reader or Nitro gives me basically the same thing. A setting error warning that I'm not allowed to access this file.

The strange thing is that if the same file is in a different folder (for example public documents) they open smoothly.

It is only when the file is located in My Documents they open and only pdf type.

Any idea how to fix this problem apart from the obvious workaround solution working with other folders?

    Hi Eric,.

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to follow these steps to restore the default libraries and see if it helps:

    a. press the Windows key + E to open Windows Explorer.

    b. right click on libraries in the left pane.

    c. click restore default libraries.

    d. check if the problem persists.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to refer to the articles and check if the permissions are set correctly when files are in the documents folder:

What to know before applying permissions to a file or folder

every time I open a pdf file, it says an unknown error and it closes. I tried deleting the program and redownloading but it says I already have a better version. What should I do?

Which version of reader you actually have installed ?  10.1.14 X drive is the latest version for Vista.

Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].
