When I went to access the internet for updates, etc. the ethernet port was not working. There is no Wi - Fi available, but I guess that there is a wireless laptop card.   Did you install The Dell software system utility and drivers Intel PM45 Express Chipset Family, GM45 Express Chipset Family, PM55 Express Chipset Family, Chipset, HM57 Express Chipset Family, v.9.1.1.1015, A01 Cantiga first? The combination of these two drivers know what is connected to your system.

  Then try the drivers again.

From that it does connect to the moderm via radio, not it connect to internet via ethernet cables. It's also extremely and unusually slow, with errors continious for several areas.   After you install the operating system, have you installed the chipset drivers and the utility of the portable system? If this is not the case, the rest of the drivers will not install. How to download and install drivers in the correct order

• Laptop Dell Studio 1555 w / Vista does not wake from sleep when the lid is open.

  I have a laptop Dell Studio 1555 with Vista Premium 64-bit. Until last night, the laptop would run mode standby when I closed the lid and woke up when I opened the cover later. Yesterday I was downloading photos from a Canon camera via USB. I close the lid when I did. When I went to open the cover later the laptop screen remained in black and white. The power button is lit, but the only way I can get to meet is to hold the power button until it turns off completely, and then restart the laptop. A difference when the lid is closed, I think the power button will blink and turn off slowly while he was really in sleep. He remains on all the time now when the lid is closed. I tried to go into power management and put the laptop from sliding when the lid is closed, but has not made a difference.

  Does not turn my dell studio 1555 laptop computer. I tried all the troubleshooting option provided in the dell forums.

  Here are the steps:

  • Disconnected all external devices on the computer, including the battery and the AC adapter / CC.
  • Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
  • Reconnected the battery and the adapter.

  After checking all the options of this still my laptop does not turn. I am not able by any beeps as well.

  I even checked the video output connect my laptop with an HDMI cable on other devices (TV). The screen is blank.

  Kindly let me know what we can do more.

  PS: I have no warranty for my laptop.

  Check that the LED on the adapter lights before plugging the end of the book.  If this is not the case, replace the card.

  Try without the battery - if it will then light up, the battery is bad.

  Unplug, remove the battery, press power for 30 seconds and remove and reinstall the bars of memory.  Try again.

  If it lights with a good map and without the battery, replace the motherboard.

  I regularly use accented letters in formal and informal contexts in several languages and I need a numeric keypad for typing these. I bought the Dell Studio 1555 without realizing account as the keyboard completely lacking a numeric keypad integrated. I can't switch back between, say, Spanish and German keyboards standard because I use the Dvorak layout and feel that force me to change the layout I use natively just for a missing feature on a keyboard is not a real solution to the problem.

  Is it possible to assign keys fn key to, say, the top row? No combination of Fn, shift, NumLock (reassigned to F6) allows me to type alt codes.
