I scored my c drive as active by mistake is a solution... ??

By mistake I scored my drive C Active now what to do, please give me a solution...

Do not mark a partition as active if it does not contain the loader for an operating system. This will cause your computer to stop working.

In time, switching from the Active partition from one partition to the other does not meet the objectives of this issue.

In cmd

type:
DiskPart
type:
display the volume
Check out the volume, and then type:
Select volume x
x is the number of the volume
then type:
inactive

  • New computer, old hard drive. Activation?

I got an old compaq presario 5140 or something and it came with vista on a hard drive of preset. I recently built a new computer with parts and essentially have a new computer. I decided since my old hard drive worked well and was compatible SATA, I want to just install it in the new computer, too.  Now, windows tells me to restart my activation key is not valid, and I need to get a new (I him I had preinstalled about 7 years I have therefore had no idea here), buy a new key or visit support.
So I ask here what I have to do. I need my computer today for a job if I got quick responses would be greatly appreciated!

You cannot transfer a preinstalled license.

    OEM and retail licenses:

If your computer is pre-installed with Vista, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

A single license is a single Installation.

    See you soon.

  • Installed new HARD drive and activation key has expired

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop and my HARD drive just died. I bought a new one and I used a program called Ez Gig to clone my old HDD to my new HARD drive, before it died completely. Now, I get a message "this is not a genuine copy of Windows. He sends me to a Web Macintoshëoperating site and it runs a check and then tells me that my activation key has expired, and the Microsoft Web site wants me to buy another copy! Why is he doing this and how to fix it? Thank you

    Michael

Your Windows license is related to your hardware. Since you just cloned the BONE but has changed the hardware, the Windows Activation does not recognize your new system. Thus, the solution would be just to reactivate your Windows.

The phone activation does not just work. You will need to re-enter your product key.

Click Start, right-click on computer , and select Properties.

On the Windows Activation section, click on change product key and enter your key.

If you are using a retail version of Windows, then the key must be with the disk when you buy it.

If Windows is preinstalled on the laptop, the key lies in a sticker at the bottom of your laptop.

  • Hard drive constantly activity led blinking - new WIN7 Ultimate Dell PC

I've been solving this problem and for weeks on my new WIN 7 64 Ultimate Dell XPS 8000 (I7 - 860 1 TB HD 8 GB of Ram).    Looking around for a found many recommendations and a couple of issues resolved, (more unresolved), but none of the recommendations has helped me.

I had the feeling that it is perhaps a Dell-specific question, but I had no answer in the Dell forums.   I don't know if I call the Dell technical support, all I get is recommendation to return to the factory default.  No thanks!

I disabled all the suspects, at least temporarily to see if it has an effect:

    Indexing of Windows & research
    Windows Firewall
    Windows Defender
    System restore
    Remote differential compression
    Windows Fax & Scan
    SuperFetch
    Sea port

With all these off, flashing was much less busy, but there was still a steady pulse of the blink type.   I have since the Defender reactivated and restore the system.    (Even if they were to blame, it is almost a solution/workaround acceptable!)

I studied the disk activity in PERFMON, and there is an occasional activity of nucleus and the recording of events.  I took a few shots of window I can post (if I can figure out how).   I also have a HijackThis log.

Sometimes the PERFORMANCE of disk activity monitor window is empty but still the light continues to blink!  huh?

I did not disable Hibernate (there was a suggestion somewhere he could play a role).  I use it regularly.   But I can try that too, you think it might help.

I'm at my wits end and a bit overwhelmed by all the data in order to study and seek.  I hate diddling with the services and the registry, fearing to wet my head and creating a mess that I can't get.

In addition, there is no additional security software and I haven't installed everything preinstalled trial crapola.

    Help!

I'll post the hijack this log in the next post

Updated to clarify: what I reported above is essentially on the out-of-the-box behavior... not or associated with CPU-bound application. The system was fairly clean with an installed extra software/hardware minimum.

Hard drive blinks quckly because Microsoft made what is called something like Write Cache Flushing flushes written disc that maybe in this cache on the disk?  Simple.

The reason is... If you have a power failure... you lose this memory data cache and/or corrupted something that may be important.   Also taking a hit on the drive's performance and life expectancy.  If some experts say.

If you have a battery backup... or most laptops with a battery can... Turn it off!

    .. In Device Manager, the properties of the hard drive has usually a checkbox to activate cache of writing... and some will have another check box...  Disable Microsoft Write Cache Flushing.<  add="" a="" check="" to="" that="" guys box...now="" look="" at="" your="" non="" very="" often="" blinking="" hdd="" light... works=""  same="" with="" some="" of="" the="" dvd/cd="" drives, same="" controllers="">

  • When I insert a CD, the drive shows activity by the flashing, but the CD does not work

I can get it to display video files and clicking on them, get them to run, but I can't get the disk to run it as it is supposed to. If I put the drive in another machine, it wil open to a screen that shows the options to choose from, by clicking on an item will take place that point and, therefore, the entire disk can be explored. I had heard that Microsoft had removed the autorun installation and initially, guess that's the reason, but I've learned since Microsoft had allowed the installation to be replaced, and so had done through Microsoft, so I always use the autorun facility.

Do you mean that you can not use the AutoPlay feature?

    Hello Jack,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your question details.

This behavior can occur if the hard drive or network drive settings are not configured correctly.

I suggest you disable the Autorun feature and check if that helps.

    Please see this link:
How to disable the Autorun feature in Windows
    https://Support2.Microsoft.com/kb/967715

Note: See sub-section "Let me fix it myself" under the section "How to disable or enable all .

Features of AutoPlay in Windows 7 and other operating systems"in the article above.

Important: problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • WARNING: The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the version of the graphics adapter driver you activated. If you please update your ATI graphics driver or enable your ATI card using the display manager.

Original title:  Install the new NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 graphics card but now gets error message regarding the necessary to the old card drivers ATI Radeon.

I just bought a new computer from AMD PHenom II quad core Dell Inspiron with Windows 7 installed. For the graphics card, an ATI RAdeon 4200 on it there but I wanted a more powerful card and installed a NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 graphics card. The ATI Radeon is not delete because honestly, I could not recognize what it should look like and thought that maybe it was incorporated. The fine installed NVIDIA card and now shows as the graphics card used by the computer Information System.

My problem is that whenever I start my computer, I get an error message saying that the drivers for the ATI card are not compatible with the Catalyst Control Center. I think I need to disable the ATI card, but don't know how. Can you help me?

Dell Inspiron 570 is a desktop computer, the ATI Radeon 4200 is an integrated graphics card chipset usually equipped with laptops. Something is not here.

Go to dell support, enter your tag # and get the origonal system specifications.

You can uninstall anything about ATI through Add/Remove dialog

  • Samsung 850 EVO Solid State Drive works only with the MacBook Pro - Solution?

I recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB Solid State Drive for mid 2012 MacBook Pro father. The computer was working properly, but it was just very slow. I took the old drive and installed the SSD. I took it to an Apple store so that they could install the OS. A guy at the Genius Bar met with me and first tried to install the OS via the Ethernet cable. It is impossible to install some general error. He then tried to install it on a disc. Which also failed. He said he was not familiar with the type of error that he saw. But he said it was a mistake 'bad '. He said he saw the SSD for my SATA cable worked. He concluded that the reader must be defective. I explained how it is virtually impossible because they have a rate of close to zero. He said: "well they are produced en masse" and explained how they could install a hard drive themselves for some too expensive price. A bit annoying.

In any case, I took the SSD back to my house and threw it in my desktop PC. It works very well. Then what should I do? Why am I not able to get the SSD to install it? From what I read, the Samsung 850 EVO should be compatible with a MacBook Pro 2012. Can I do to install it at home? Is that all I can say people at the Mac store to help them along?

Most likely, the drive is formatted for use with Windows computers. First step would be to format correctly for Macs.

This is Mac OS extended (journaled) with a GUID partition map.

OS X will only be installed on a properly formatted disk.

  • Vista tips - drive hard main 'default' mistake, want to remove and use secondary 1 TB drive as primary

I have a 4 ~ 5 year old computer in a more recent case, with a secondary 1 TB drive that I added earlier this year. I upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium with upgrade software.

A few days ago I started having an error message saying that my hard drive is failing or corrupt, and that I should repair or remove.

I support from now all my personal files. But if I remove the drive and put the disk of 1 TB to act as principal, can I install the Windows Vista 'Upgrade'?

Or should I try first installing Vista on the 1 TB drive, and then delete the default one?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello badboodah77,

Thank you for posting.  Is there a way to do what you want.  It is a called xcopy command line commard.
You will need to have both drives connected at the same time to make it work.  Once the two are connected, you can use the xcopy command in the command prompt to copy on your disk to the new disk.  After you have copied the disk, analyze the new drive to find errors.  I have included a link below with instructions on the use of xcopy.
you will need to use most of the settings for the copy (example xcopy C:\ D:\/c/e/f/h/r/s )

    If you are sure then:

Open the command prompt > type "diskpart" & press enter > type "rescan" & press enter

You need administrator account to perform this task.

    Hello Lewie,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What is brand and model your computer?
    2. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

I understand that you lose your screen when you play a game. This happens usually if the installed graphics driver has corrupted or unstable. Therefore, I suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

Method 1: Run the tool material and devices

Try running the next fixit and check whether the problem is resolved.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

Method 2: Update your graphics card

1 open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then, under System, click the Managerof peripheral . If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. in the list of hardware categories, find the display adapters and select the device driver you want to update, and then double-click the device name.

    3. Click tab driver , click Update driver, and then follow the instructions. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

For more information, visit the below mentioned link:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

If you are not able to update the device driver via windows update, you can visit your computer or graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA) Web site and download & install the latest driver. Or contact the manufacturer of your system to do.

For reference, you can also consult the following Web page. Click on continue to this site Web (not recommended) if you are prompted for any error of certification.
