I started firefox in safe mode. Now all my Add-ons disappeared, my favorites, my preferences... everything! What is hell?
Here's what was contained in the dialog box. I checked all the boxes and choose the option "make changes and restart". Nothing has emerged to indicate that I was doing permanent changes... no type 'Are you sure you want to do' things... nothing.
Firefox Safe mode
Firefox is now running in safe mode, which temporarily turns off your custom settings, themes and extensions.
You can do any or all of these permanent changes:
[] disable all add them ons
[] reset toolbars and controls
[] delete all bookmarks except for backups
[] reset all default user preferences
restore default search engines]
[make changes and restart] [Continue in safe mode] [output]
You can restore the bookmarks from the most recent backup of JSON.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox
You can re-enable the extensions in tools > Modules > Extensions
You will have to redo the customization of the toolbar and preferences in tools > Options

At the suggestion of Firefox, I refreshed, now all my Add-ons disappeared and worst parameters associated with them are gone too. Where I could find to put the 'old'?
When updating Firefox, it creates a folder on the desktop called "old Firefox data." According to Firefox, it's when my old settings were saved. The question to the community, it is where I can move some of these old settings (and what are those FireFPT) to restore my old settings. Time Machine using nothing else that place an old version of FireFox in my app folder.
I have several clients and staff that need to be restored as soon as POSSIBLE.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Using Dell PC/Windows XP. I love how Firefox is running in SafeMode so inflated as usual. I would like to be able to start Firefox in safe mode, without having to always restart Firefox to get in safe mode. Anyway to do it? Thank you very much!!!
Ok. Thank you guys created and a new profile and restarted and all kind of memory freed, but of course Firefox is practically naked, so is expected.
Checked the plugins and extensions, no major problems that are not there, I could see. I have a Gig of RAM installed around a little more, do not think I can add as many more on my old Dell PC of 2005. So I'll just switch to Firefox Safe mode when memory begins to be tight. Thanks again guys for all the good info! -

I tried the setting of that my homepage to Google and Bing, but Firefox closes as soon as the page loads. He began a second time without any problem.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

You can try to reset Firefox.
Reset creates a new profile and attempting to import some settings of the old profile, leaving the old profile intact.
Also check the settings of your security software.
One possible cause is security software (firewall, antivirus) that prevents or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

After update today (20/11/2012) to 17.0 Firefox, when I click on the link to modules in the toolbar, nothing happens. I can click on downloads and window open, same for all the rest except the modules. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
Hello JPV555, another user reported that tab mix plus can cause this problem - you have installed too? If so, please start firefox in safe mode, go to the addons - manager & keep the mixture to label more disabled until there is an update available for the extension.

How to get back all my Add-ons that disappeared since I updated to firefox 13?
I've updated to FF13 and all my Add-ons disappeared and FF is returned to the default version when restarted the Web site. the disturbing part is that sometimes when I login on my system and click on FF, all my modules and themes reappear and other times when I log into the computer and launch FF, it say - appears again and I came back once more to the default version. This has happened for 2 months now and I'm tired of the situation. recently, I updated to FF 15.0 hoping things would come back normal, but it stops. What can I do to solve this problem and recover my FF custom?
Try:
Avast-> Protection->-> under Mozilla Firefox browser Protection, uncheck the box "run this browser sandboxed. -
Firefox said I need to update my Add ons and plug-ins at startup after rebooting my laptop
I'm running 10.0.2 and I get several tabs when I first launch firefox saying I need to install Update Add ons. I go through each one and click Add and then restart firefox and everything is fine. later, when I turn my laptop back and then start firefox I get the same message. Firefox is not save or recognizing the add ons that have already been installed. What should I do to fix this?
If you cannot disable this feature in the program, try Bitdefender forum.

When I first start Firefox, all right. And everything is fine as long as I type in the text boxes on any web page. I can type in the address bar or search throughout the day with no problems.
But, for example, just by typing in the edit box to ask this question on this site will result in the problem after I typed more say 150 characters. After this strike ANYWHERE in Firefox will be very slow, even the address bar or the search bar. It doesn't seem to matter what site use to type in the text. Cause the problem to occur after typing in enough strikes.
Navigation & mouse clicking remains fast - it is only typing seems to be affected. In order to recover, I have to restart Firefox.
If I look at the use of the UC Firefox.exe in Process Explorer, I see that once the problem occurs, the CPU usage starts whenever I type a key fortification. Indeed Firefox maxes one of my two hearts so the cpu is at 50%! He goes down to 0% again once I stop typing.
As mentioned in the subject, it is in Mode safe mode with all extensions & plugins disabled. I'm running on Windows XP SP3 with an old AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 3800 + (1.81 Ghz) with 2.00 GB of RAM.
I think it started to happen with Firefox 3.6 significantly (it's amazing how much time I can navigate without having to type), but it sometimes occurred with previous versions. Now he is annoyingly repeatable.
I have to use '-no - Pei ForTyping distance "to start a separate session of Firefox that I use just to type in the text boxes, so I can restart at will. I also compose messages in an external editor and simply paste in Firefox to avoid typing as much as possible.
This may be a problem with session restore. Firefox stores session data every 10 seconds to make it possible to restore a session crashed.
It may be a problem with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder
Delete the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak and all files files sessionstore-# .js with a number in the left part of the name as sessionstore - 1.js.

TED talks, videos, AOL and others will start with a flash of the video, then off. The audio continues. I deleted the plugins flash and quicktime - no luck. I restarted Firefox in safe mode and it works fine. I then rebooted and disabled all the plugins - no luck. Internet Explorer works fine.
Any ideas? One of the characteristics of Safe Mode is that it disables use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics. This method works around incompatibilities with some graphics driver software.
the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced
In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.
It takes effect after you quit and then restart Firefox.

How can I open firefox in safe mode?
I can find is no longer a way to open firefox in safe mode, I was able to before the latest version
It's always the same, although it might be less easy to find the Help menu which is now in the '3-bar' list drop-down menu button Firefox -
Reset Firefox in safe mode. Click 'Help', then 'restart with modules disabled.
After the reboot, Checked 'reset all the preferences of Firefox by default'
Once completed, found three new tabs, one asking if I wanted to continue the previous session, a second Firefox, by saying: "Welcome to Firefox".
And a third with the title, "Web Developer installed"
By clicking on the tab took me to: http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/installed/11/ saying "the Extension Web Developer has been successfully installed."
The new Web site, which also requested donations, seems not related to Firefox. Anyway, nobody has ASKED MY PERMISSION to install
AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE EXTENSION NOT DESIREE AND WHAT ELSE IT CAN DO WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
I DO NOT FAULT Chris Pendrick 'extension' on my computer, but do not know how to remove/uninstall completely.
Can anyone help?
