I used "Show Hidden Files" in a folder and all my files disspeared

I used "Show Hidden Files" in a folder on an external hard drive and all my files disappeared after I changed the settings and press ENTER.

I also made the change not in a folder, but the subfolders. I have many files duplicate on my external hard drive and I noticed that each file said that she had more files that were contained in each file, so I wanted to see what were these hidden files. After you have clicked on enter, each music file and folder just disappeared.

I searched my pc but can't find these files. I got more than $ 100 of music who has simply disappeared.

What can I do b/call, the music were in a separate folder, and there were more than 50 files with hundreds of songs. I mean how to do a cover for it?

Return to the folder options and use the "Restore default settings" button to change all the options back how they were, and see if it helps.

You can also try to use the drive in another computer, if you think that the configuration of your computer could be the problem.

  • Show hidden files and folders option does not

I'm trying to access a hidden folder, C:\programdata\... I can't see it in Explorer. When I go into control panel > folder options > discovers... the option box to display hidden files and folders is already selected.

I tried to change this option to not display hidden files and folders by selecting the radio button, and then clicking on apply. Then I exit the menu display. However, when I return to the menu display the radio button beside display hidden files. That is to say it is not "saved" change.

I changed other elements in the advanced example view menu Hide extensions of known file types, and it works very well.

I was not able to find this problem in the forum. Of course, I have restarted my pc. I don't know when this problem was that I don't often get this hidden folder.

Original title: activate the hidden files and folders. -Registry problem! Windows 7

I had a meeting with a virus, which had a game with my registry so that I cannot view hidden files and folders. Whenever I click on "View files and folders hodden" and then click on folder options, it is by default to "do not show hidden folders and files". I've been browsing around, find people who give advice and I have seen some changes, but it STILL keep diverting back to do not show.

    I am running Windows 7 Profesional x 64

There are a few default values and checked in 2 subfolders in the shadow folder.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden

Any help from people who know a little more about the registry that I do, would be greatly apprechiated.

    Thank you.

    Nick.

P.S. is there a tool to repair/reinstall just a specific part of the registry? aka. Replace the folder hidden by default?

    Hi Nicolas,.

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: Check if the following registry value exists.
    a. Click Start, type regedit and press to enter.
    b. look for the following registry:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
    Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
    c. click the SHOWALL folder in the left pane and check if the CheckedValue element is present in the right pane and if the value set on this is 1.
    d. If CheckedValue element is missing in the right pane, and then right-click in the empty area in the right pane, click New-> click on the DWORD (32 bit) If your computer is running 32-bit Windows, 64-bit by clicking another value.
    e. name the item that you created as CheckedValue.
    f. double-click CheckedValue element and type 1 in the value data box, and then click ok.
    g. close the registry editor and restart the computer.
    h. turn on hidden files and folders to see if it works.
Important: Modifying the registry incorrectly will cause serious damage to the computer. Back up the registry until you make changes.
Step 2: Online virus scanner and check the result
    a. visit the Scan of viruses online
    b. click full service scan and complete the scan.
    c. restart the computer once the analysis is complete.

  • How to display the hidden files and folders even if I've already enabled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" to "Advanced settings"?

How to display the hidden files and folders even if I've already enabled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" to "Advanced settings"?

After I enabled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" in 'Advanced settings', I can't yet see in the folder but I know there is a file in this program of WinRAR folder form as pictured below where I opened the case both at the same time.

Hope you can help in this case...

It would be possible that the file is marked as a system folder (which is just a check box in properties such as the hidden check box). So in your folder options, uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files" and see if it will be visible.

Or another thing to try: remonter back a level, hold down SHIFT while you right-click the complete file and choose "Open command window here", then type DIR to see if the file is listed.

    Hi Claudia,.

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

You may experience this problem if the folders are hidden or library is corrupted. Follow these steps and check if that helps:

Step 1: I suggest you restore default library and check if it helps:

    1. press on the Windows key + E

    2. If you are not able to view the library

    3. the Ribbon, click view

    4. click on Navigation pane

    5 check display libraries

    6. right click on libraries and click restore default libraries

Step 2: follow these steps to restore default folder settings.

    1. press on the Windows key + E

    2. the Ribbon , click view

    3. click on the Options button.

    4. on the general tab and view , click Restore default.

I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.

    Hi ZohaibJamil,

If you have one machine to another,
Then, click Run, type Regedit, go to the next topic & select export.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden

Copy the file on the problematic machine, double click on it & select Yes.

If you do not have another machine,

Navigate to the registry entry above & change the values as below:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden

    NOHIDDEN - Checkedvalue (2)

    DefaultValue (2)

    SHOWALL - Checkedvalue (1)

    DefaultValue (2)

    That's all!

  • Subscription to a folder and all subfolders (folders_g)

For a content server WebCenter 11 g using folders_g, I have a requirement to allow users to subscribe to a folder. This means that a user should receive an email notification when any content in this folder (and subfolders) changes.

With a subscription of criteria I know I can create criteria based on the dCollectionID of the file, but that only fires for content in the top-level folder. In addition, subfolders are constantly added/removed by the users, so the subscription is very dynamic.

I know I could write a custom component to accomplish this, but first I wanted to check here to see if there are potentially a component existing that does this.

Has anyone written or heard talk of such a component? Or know of a way to achieve this functionality without custom code?

You mentioned using the name of the collection in your response, but I think you meant "path", correct?

Yes, that's correct. The table stores the name, but you'll need all the way to use the ' *' wildcard.

If you opt for a customization, especially if you want users to subscribe to a folder, I'm afraid the standard functionality can be obstacle - see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10797/c04_working_with_files.htm#CSUSG898:

-Subscription point content: users manually subscribe to individual content items.

-Subscription criteria: the system administrator (in an administrative applet) sets up a subscription based on one or more metadata fields. When a user subscribes to the subscription criteria, they are automatically subscribed to all content items that match a particular value of these metadata fields.

In this case, I probably would implement everything from scratch. I can send you a component that sets the quota of the file - it will still require much work to adapt to your needs and make it ready for production, but you can use it as a starting point. In addition, if your db is Oracle is using its hierarchical queries perfectly.

  • Hidden file containing system 70 GB of disk space, even by showing hidden files reveal what who or where he is.

I just noticed today that I have only 5 GB of disk space. After checking the properties of all the directories on that drive, I can determine that about 70 GB has been lost.

I followed the post here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaperformance/thread/93892180-aa3f-4cd3-90a9-87d6aca6ddca

    and it made no difference.

I don't know I have no viruses because my PC is completely swept every day, I also run Diskeeper Pro in order to reduce the fragmentation (this one works permanently).

I deleted all my Windows and application event logs, and this too made no difference.

As indicated in the title, I have exposed system files etc. and always impossible to find what.

Just to reiterate, checking the properties of each folder to root quite well shows the use of the disc I expect, if I check the properties of the root of C:, it shows 5 GB free.

I am running Vista + SP2, Avira AV, Comodo Firewall, Diskeeper 2010 Pro.

    Concerning

    Andrew

If your computer works normally without any problem follow these steps: right-click (c) click on disk cleanup, wait... click More Options, click on clean for the system restore and shadow copies. Now check the free space.
