I want to format my hard drive, I have Windows XP Home product key, but not drive.

Is there anyway that I can format my HDD without the disc? As indicated, I still have the product key.

You must contact your computer manufacturer to see if there are any available recovery disks. Another option would be to buy from a reliable source. Several times shopping online disks can be counterfeited or contain malware.

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

  • I want to format my hard drive

I need to format and reinstall Vista Home Basic. I can't even formatted hard drive with the installation disc. When I get to the options where the choice should be shaped is not there. None of the other shortcuts not work either. Help, please! I tried to use driver disk, when he asked during the installation where it says the driver had to be loaded to access hard drive and he could not find the file. Any ideas?

    Hello

You don't say what kind of installation disc you are using.

The manufacturer's recovery disks normally don't give you a lot of options; they do it automatically.

  • I want to improve my motherboard. I have Windows 7 Home Premium OEM set level to professionals.

I bought the parts to make my first computer from Newegg about 8 months ago. This figure includes Windows 7 Home Premium OEM. I had to move on to professional for my school.

Now my motherboard (out of warranty) became lethargic and I'll upgrade. But I was told that I have to play for Windows AGAIN.
That's what I've collected questions on this site, even the thought of service Windows (in India) told me that I would have NO PROBLEM spending these two licenses to my new motherboard.
I have already sunk $180 in this product. VERY well, I'm hoping not to have to reinvest to solve a simple problem.
    Any help is appreciated.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

MY COMPUTER HAS INSTALLED VISTA AND I WANT TO FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE AND RETURN TO WINDOWS WP

BACK is not involved in any part of this situation. You don't want to format a drive to be used with XP with BACK; you would format the drive within the XP installation routine instead.

General information about replacing Vista with XP:

    A. on a computer OEM (HP, Sony, etc.):

    1. go to the OEM Web site and find the XP drivers for your specific model computer. If there is no XP drivers, you can not install XP. End of the story. If there are drivers, download them and store them on a CD - R or USB thumbdrive. you will need after installing XP.

    2. check with the OEM - either since their technical support site, either as - to see if you will cancel your warranty if you do this. If void you your warranty, you make the decision.

    3. If the OEM supports XP on the machine, call them and see if you can qualify to demotion and ask them to send you a XP restore disc. This is by far the easiest and best way to put XP on the machine.

    4. if XP is supported on the machine but OEM does not have a disk to restore XP for you, understand that you will need to buy a copy of XP to your favorite online or brick/mortar store retail.

    5. also understand that you will need to do a fresh install of XP, so if you have any data you want back first.

    6. If none of the above applies to you because you can't run XP which return (see point 1 above), the computer of the machine and buy a running XP instead.

    B. on a generic/home computer built (of the non - OEM company)-you will need the drivers for all your hardware. See the second link below for more details:

  • Can I install Windows 7 Professional on my Windows 7 Home Premium without formatting the hard drive?

I have a genuine copy of Windows 7 Professional, I would like to install on my laptop, but I'm afraid to do that because I don't want to format the hard drive and lose all my files, programs, etc. Is it possible to install it without formatting the hard drive and lose all my data? Thank you.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

    Hello

You received with the laptop Toshiba Recovery CD! Am I wrong?
    So what s the problem?

Simply insert the CD and try to boot from this CD.
The restore CD contains all Toshiba drivers, tools and utilities Windows OS + additional software like Win DVD for example.
The installation will set the laptop to factory settings, but will also format the HARD drive!

Up to now, we come to the point 3; --> How do I save the data
If you have purchased a second HDD and connect it to the USB port and transfer all the necessary files on the second HDD
If you have purchased only the HARD drive, then you will need a USB HDD 2.5 case.

    Best regards
