I want to stop Windows Live messenger to start automatically.

I never use Windows Live Messenger, but it starts up and asks me to connect. How can I prevent that to happen?

Hi Matona,

Ok. He "starts and asks you to connect"... When you connect to your computer? If so, login once more, and here's how you turn off this option. Click under your name, and then click options. Then, select the "sign-in" section From there, uncheck the box "Automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I connect Windows". This will stop messenger from starting automatically.

Hope this helps,

  • How can I stop Windows Live Messenger issuing alerts every minutes, hours and days of the year? I don't use it.

I do not use Windows Live Messenger, but he insists on the display of alerts telling me to connect. Why it does this and how can I stop without causing problems in other areas? I know nothing about it except that the people who try to contact me (I guess) can do it without going through channels such as email or telephone.

I assume you have Windows Live Messenger, because you have installed the Windows Live Essentials.
    If so, a brief explanation...
Windows Live Essentials includes some programs that can be installed or NOT, must be installed. You can choose whoever you want.

    Now, you have 2 options...

    1. you can disable. He will remain in the system but inactive.

    2. you can purely and simply uninstall it, and it will be out of the system.

Short of uninstalling this program (if that is even possible), how can I stop to open at startup and it detach all the time in the taskbar?  Thanks for your help.

    Hello

I can help you to stop Live Messenger from running at startup but don't know why it won't let you it detach from the task bar. It should leave you with the right button and choose "unpin this program from the taskbar".
On the login screen when messenger starts first, click Help on the right with the (?) and in the menu on the button, put a check mark next to "show the menu bar.
OK - now you can access the menus at the top of the window. Go to tools-> Options.
In the window that appears, click "sign in" on the list on the left and uncheck the box to the top right ("automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log on Windows ')
Next time you reboot, Live Messenger doesn't have to load at startup.
It may be useful to uninstall and download again to see if there is a updated version that works better.
    Hope this will help
