I want to upgrade my RAM: 256 MB what anyone faster

I bought a Windows XP Home Edition PC in 2005. The space of hard drive 100 GB & 256 RAM. To date in 2012, remains great functions, but I desperately want to spend his RAM because it's horribly slow. What are the appropriate measures to do? Where to buy a kit of RAM? I should install it myself, is it simple enough, or take it to someone else?

You can install as much as 4 GB in your computer - which would make a significant difference in the performance: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Presario%20SR1710NX

It is easy enough to install the new RAM.  See, for example, the video on the site of critical above.

If you buy 4 GB upgrade kit, you remove the current 256 MB module and then install the four modules of 1 GB.  I'm not suggesting using the 256 MB module, even if you get only 2 GB of new RAM.

If you don't want to spend the $108 for 4 GB, the type of memory, you need to get is "DDR PC3200"--> http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611%20600006085&IsNodeId=1&name=DDR%20400%20%28PC%203200%29Specifications:

Hello, I want to upgrade my RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB.

The laptop box, said the other: 2 GB DDR2 800 Mhz, but when I check the CPU - Z it says 400 Mhz

    http://img140.imageshack.us/i/cpuz1.PNG/
    http://img267.imageshack.us/i/cpuz2.PNG/

The website of toshiba says also 800 Mhz, so wich 1 I need to buy?
    1 x 2 GB DDR2 - 400 Mhz
    or
    2 x 2 GB DDR2 - 800 Mhz

Also, I wonder when I switch to 4 GB, the amount of memory will be dedicated to my video card?

    Thank you

    Hello

CPU - Z is definitely wrong! Satellite Pro A300D-161 needs DDR2-800 MHz to upgrade according to the specs on the Toshiba site.
If the information on the laptop box is correct.

More video RAM will be assigned automatically and with 4 GB of RAM you will get more memory video too.

  • I want to upgrade the RAM in my Acer Aspire 5736z-4826.

I want to upgrade the RAM in my Acer Aspire 5736z-4826. I've seen different specifications on the laptop. Some people say that it can hold 8 GB of RAM and some say 4GB. I don't know the exact type of RAM that works. I ordered 2x2gb RAM PC3-12800 DDR3 of Crucial, and he was not compatible and caused the screen doesn't Flash at max resolution. I think the problem is, it should be PC - 8500 DDR3 RAM. Can someone please give me some information since there is NO information on the web on this particular laptop. Thank you.

I don't have the model of your computer, but sometimes when there's confusion about what memory, people use Speccy or CPU - Z or HWinfo to determine what memory is currently installed.

  • Satellite L40 - 139 - I want to upgrade the RAM

    Hello
    My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L40 - 139 PSL40E model, operating system Windows XP SP3, 1 024 DDR2 RAM (667 MHz) (512 + 512).

    I want to increase the RAM memory using 2048 DDR2 RAM (1024 + 1024).

Laptop manual can not find if support * _dual-channel memory_ *, which requires a dual-channel-capable motherboard. Theoretically, this technology double data rate of the memory.
Someone has the manual for this laptop motheboard, or may indicate the site for download?

    Apologies for my bad English.
    Thank you.

    Hello!

Satellite L40-139 can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. You can buy two modules with 1 GB of capacity with the specifications of DDR2 at 667 MHz.
If you use two modules, they run in dual channel mode.

The manual of the motherboard or repair for Toshiba laptops cannot be downloaded. They are only available if ASP.

  • I want to upgrade the RAM on Satellite 1400-253

I want to get more ram to a Satellite 1400-253 s but crucial tell me that they can not guarantee compatibility because there is no updated BIOS meet the new jedec standards.
Should I be waiting for an update of the Bios or try to find the old memory compatible, or is this model too old now?

    Hello

I found some info on this unit and hope this will help you. According to the specs of this device comes with 128 MB of RAM and can be updated up to 1024 MB. Memory compatible with this camera modules are:

    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

Check how many modules of 512 MB of costs. If they are not expensive, you can buy two of them and the use of RAM max. In this case your device will work much, much faster.

can I update its graphics card?

currently I have ATI Radeon HD5850

    Thank you

There certainly two memory locations and with 4 gigs, there probably 2 x 2, but you can run a diagnostics like CPU - Z program to check or just open the Bay of great utility and watch. If it is 2 x 2, you will need to launch the memory and install 2 x 4 to get 8.

We need the exact model number to be sure to direct you to the correct RAM.

There is no possible upgrade to the video.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - I want to upgrade the RAM

    Hello

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my Satellite Pro A120 Model No.: PSAC1E-05C00VEN

I'm getting conflicting reports as to how this can actually take, some sites say a 1 GB maximum per slot max so 2 GB while most of the others say max 2 GB per slot

I was hoping you could advise me.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Hello!

Your Satellite Pro A120 is equipped with the Intel 945 GM chipset and so you can upgrade it to 4 GB of RAM.
Only models with ATI chipset can be upgraded to 2 GB and I think this is the reason why some sites say that it can be upgraded to 2 GB and others at 4 GB.

However, for the upgrade of RAM DDR2-RAM PC2-5300 (DDR2-677). You can buy 2 GB modules for a maximum of 4 GB.
But don t forget that only a 64 bit OS supports 4 GB of RAM.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200-1TW - I want to upgrade the RAM

    Hello
I think to upgrade my RAM from 2 GB to 3 or 4 gig.
I know that 32-bit windows recognizes only 3 gig of max, but I was wondering if it would be better to install 2x2g then 1 x 2 GB and 1 x 1 GB?
    Another question I have:
I opened my laptop to see what was inside this time, and it seemed that she had 2 parts of ram inside (photo: http://i44.tinypic.com/xojyhw.jpg)
    )
. So I was wondering, is this 2 x 1 gig? Or one of them is just a fake to fill the slots?

So in short: do I have to purchase a 1 gig or a 2 gig RAM, and I have to remove the one that is installed in order to install the new one (2 gigabytes)?

    It s not a fake both modules with 2 GB (2 x 1 GB).

Your Satellite A200 can be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM. You can buy 2 x 2 GB RAM DDR2-667 for laptops.
But don t forget that Windows XP will only recognize 3 GB. 4 GB, you need a 64 bit OS.

Here you can learn more about the limitation on 32 bit OS:

  • I upgraded my ram 256 k xp in a crack of 1 gig in the same niche but the computer does not load. BIOS indicates still 256 k. What should I do?

By the bios indicates ram 256 k in the slot one.  I bought a 1 GB card (correct map I know) and plugged into the connector 1.  When I turn on the computer it load windows and when I hit f1 the bios screen still displays 256 k in slot 1 and I can't figure out how to change that and get running.

You can be sure, buy why don't we tell the brand and model of your computer (or your motherboard) and the brand and model of RAM you bought?

    Probable causes:

    1. bad RAM
    2. incorrectly installed RAM
3 damaged RAM or motherboard installation
    4. defective RAM

Hi, I would like to upgrade the RAM in my DV7-7205tx 8 GB to 16GB, but the specifications say that the maximum is 8 GB. Much appreciated,

Although not conclusive, the following information suggests strongly that the dv7-7205tx is capable of 16 GB (2 X 8 GB) memory.

    Memory 4 GB 641369-001
    Memory 2 GB 652972-001

The OP needs to open the memory Bay and check whether 1 or 2 modules of memory are installed and that the part (s) was/is. If a single p/n 670034-001 is installed, the system should have no problem taking another module of 8 GB, the maximum of the motherboard is rated to 16 GB. If two p/n 641369-001 modules are installed, something is fishy, as it departs the HP part Surfer information.
