I was contacted by a company to buy their software that will correct the 1633 corrupted files in my computer. He says that it is allowed by MS and could charge me $179. Is it necessary?

This company called me on my home phone and went through a lengthy introduction on how they could help my computer and would charge me 179.99 for this software.  The company said that whenever my computer is connected to the internet, these corrupt files affected the connection and slow down my computer. I want to know if I should try to fix this problem and should I go for help?

Not only this 'service' is not necessary, but it is also a scam. Immediately hang up the phone when you receive a call like that!
