Windows Vista Home Basic preinstalled on my Compaq laptop will not accept code provided with the computer installation. HP can't help. Your say talking to HP and HP technicians say they are unable to help him. I'm now using valid XP. HP say that conflict with Vista. Can anyone help?
original title: VISTA VS. XPYour technicians say talk to HP
Sorry, this is not Microsoft. This is a public forum from user to user hosted by Microsoft on its servers for the comfort of its clients, and we all here are volunteers.
You say you use XP. What is your question? What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?
I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer. If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com. There are several of these companies. If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model. If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.
Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date. Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates. You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7. You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.

Vista Home Basic Edition does install in a dell inspiron 1440.
I bought a laptop that did not come with an operating system because I happened to have a Vista Home Basic installation disc that came with my previous laptop. so I tried to install the operating system, but after that the display shows "windows is loading files...". "this message appears:
Windows has encountered an error... file cannot be found or corrupted.
file: windows/system32/boot/winload.exe
error code: 0-xC0000001
What does that mean? I tried twice to reinsert the disc and redo everything but shows same message. is there something wrong with the installation disc? Should what I do to fix this? Thank youi so much.
Recovery of the computer disks are often related to the hardware of the computer that they came with.
Also, you have rules of licensing:
If Vista is preinstalled on your other laptop, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.
The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptopSee you soon.

Impossible to upgrade to windows vista ultimate from vista home Basic using the upgrade disc
I bought a disc "to upgrade use only" Windows Vista Ultimate at my University and tried to upgrade my current version of Windows (Vista Home Basic).
At the stage where I had to select the 'Upgrade' or 'Custom' installation option, I noticed that the interface was telling me, 'Upgrade Disabled"with a message that has been along the line"this version of windows is already installed and cannot be upgraded."I know that the upgrade disc was probably intended for the upgrade from an earlier version of Windows like XP, but I assumed that because Microsoft also sells discs "Anytime Upgrade" to do exactly what I'm trying to accomplish this I would have had no problem. For any help or suggestion that contact would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance. It's all about Service Pack.
We don't know what you have.If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.In this case, your upgrade disk has NO Service Pack installed with it.
Take it back to the University, if you cannot uninstall SP1 operating system.

I have a right problem, my computer laptop need to format I have product key for windows vista home basic 32 bit service pack 2 but no cd, please help me
Hello
There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.
Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.
If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

I want to upgrade to 10 Windows Vista Home Basic.
Hello! I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 older laptop which is running on Vista Home Basic. I want to upgrade to a windows 10. Is this possible with the old system? What should I do to get that they system ready for any update or upgrade?
Original title: upgrade for older compaq PresarioCQ60
Hello
My personal opinion is that you buy a more recent machine as Vista Basic came on machines that have the material basis for it requirements.
Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.
HP:
http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/drivers.html
There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.
Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.
Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Follow these steps before buy you and upgrade (new installation) of Windows 8.1.
Microsoft sells more than 8/8.1.
Try Amazon.com, etc.
Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8.1 drivers available for your model.
If this is not available, Windows 8.1 not install and work properly for you.

Basically, I installed windows 2000 on my machine and I can't find a download for windows vista home basic that doesn't have some kind of crack or keygen. I want a legal copy not a hack. I have the serial number supplied with my computer. where can I find this download or get a drive.
Here are all LEGAL for Vista:
How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed. There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Looking for a difference in numbers/Service Pack levels.
If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.
Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have installed.
